I don’t understand posts like this, why do you think you can dictate what everyone else will do? It isn’t clever.
It will become the new meta, whether you like it or not. If you don't want to watch it then don't but I'd be happy to bet every single person in here will watch a couple of United games by the time 2024 comes around. I'll literally put my money where my mouth is if the super league goes ahead

Never have I hated the Glazers, Woodward & Co more than I do now....

How far would the Glazers have to go before people stop supporting them?

We can say "I'll always support United" but just because these crooks bought the name and the badge and the stadium, are they the club? If they drag the club out of the league and country it was built in, is it still the club? If they establish us as the bottom feeders in a superleague just because they're guaranteed a paycheck every year without having to invest much, do we still support them because they own the business of Manchester United and we want to be loyal to what the club used to be?

I’ve said for a while they should bring in game passes. Where you pay a certain amount of money a month/year to watch every game for your team, or just every game period, which would obviously be more.
Agreed but as long as the the broadcasters hold the TV rights teams can't do that. They also know they'd lose money or Newcastle would end up owing money for streaming their games to no one.

I'll say it again: if UEFA want a fair game then the CL should only be for Champions. Don't cry about any shit when the likes of England get 4 places and the likes of Ireland and Scotland get to play 3 qualifying rounds. Absolutely no sympathy for UEFA at all. Now I'm in the unique position where I could just fully leave football and only watch rugby and Gaelic games so maybe I'm being short sighted.

Man City fan here. Real fans from all the clubs potentially involved in this do NOT want This to happen. It will end football as we know it. Glad I’m 47 and had a lot of laughs and tears out of the game already. Mate said a funny thing. Half of us are red and half Blue. Mates for 35 years. He said if it goes ahead we may finally get to choose a club like County and all go together as one for the first time in our lives if this move comes off. Match going 32 years for me.my last game was in the away end at OT March 8th I think. It would end my love for the game as I know it’.

You can’t tell me the winner of the Czech league is a better side than the 5th team in England.
You just need to go through United's Champions League results over the years to find plenty of defeats to teams you'd claim weren't better than the 5th team in England.

Is this not the best move for the club?

How would you feel if United refused to enter the super league but 5 other PL teams went instead? How far would a moral victory actually get us by the time the super league kicked off? You think we'd sign Haaland? Maybe Sancho? What about a Grealish? Forget it, we'd be shopping in the Championship for players.

You can’t say if you don’t want to watch it then don’t, and then say everyone will. If we leave the Premier League, I won’t watch any United matches or any European Super League matches and I bet i’m not on my own.

You think we'll be going for any of those players when the Glazers don't have to worry about qualifying for the big bucks league each year?

You are totally deluded if so.

Thaksin
Mansour.

Sadly, I cannot support the club if the only competition they participate in is to be this glittering morning star of a slap into the jowels of a jaded population.

PL statement condemning Super League plans: “The Premier League condemns any proposal that attacks the principles of open competition and sporting merit which are at the heart of the domestic and European football pyramid.”

Yet these bunch of hypocrites have allowed Chelsea and City to obliterate the integrity of their competition for the last 15-16 years

Couldn’t this end up being like the PDC breakaway from BDO in darts? Everyone was up in arms about in at the time but no one seems to complain anymore.
Think there is bit of a difference between darts and football to be fair, and I do like my darts. If this breakaway means leaving the premier league then i am totally against it, and will stop following the club. If it is instead of the champions league then i couldnt really care less to be honest. Champions league was ruined years ago when they started to allow 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams in for television rights.

Go and look at relative spend over the last few years compared to City, Chelsea and PSG. Any big club with the exception of United of course. I have faith you'll find your answers
The big 3 clubs in Spain have spent a fortune in recent years (Barcelona have spent over 800m euro on signings in the last 4 years as well as having the highest paid player in the world, Atletico over 500m in the same time in addition to having the highest paid manager and Real Madrid spent over 350m in the summer of 2019 alone) as have Juventus. The 2 Milan clubs haven't to the same extent due to issues with their ownership while Liverpool have invested incredibly smartly for the most part and therefore have been able to win major trophies anyway.

So presumably based on the 12 clubs involved and that 7 of them have spent a lot of money, the idea is that Stan Kroenke and Daniel Levy are really going to start splashing the cash when they are guaranteed of the vast majority of their revenue regardless of where the finish?

to not be carrying the weight and the costs of UEFA's plans to revamp the Champions League through all the extra games - so extra player's bonuses, extra travel costs, need for bigger squads to compete in more games etc. all for less of a share of the pie and less prize money - and a big load of spit in the face for daring to not be happy about it.
This, plus the issue with oil clubs already having inflated the expenditures of other clubs, eating into their revenues in part due to the rubbish FFP implementation.

Mate the biggest issue is that the PL allowed it happen. Why allow this shit to happen and then cry foul at the consequences? The PL should have stepped in and said that no way could we be bought and have that debt put on the club. Now what we have is the PL calling 'fair play'. These problems were created by the likes of PL and UEFA alone and no one else. "Wow scumbag owners who only care abut themselves are acting in a selfish way"! The time to stop this was years ago but they did nothing and now this is the result.

By the way we are already the relative bottom feeders in the PL now anyway.

Firstly I’ve never said I want it. Secondly I’ve stated there needs to be a way for others to get into it. However, let’s not pretend the CL is based on merit. You can’t tell me the winner of the Czech league is a better side than the 5th team in England.
Come on now, you know that was never how the competition was meant to work.

Huge respect to Bayern and dortmund aswell

I think it comes down to fan ownership. German supporter clubs have a controlling interest in their clubs which is enshrined in law.

Another thing... Yesterday I watched Newcastle vs West Ham... Because it had stakes at either end. Like feck am I going to watch 16th place Arsenal play 12th place Milan or whatever it'll be, what's the incentive?

Yes, we need to see the proposals and then what transpires from them, but there could be uproar from the support of all clubs involved.

We need big name players to keep the fans emptying their wallets for us and our sponsors.

 By that logic why do we bother buying players now? For the £5 million CL winners prize? The Glazers have invested more money in the last few years than United have ever had

Exactly this. It seems to escape the thick cnuts that the side about to win 3 of the last 4 Premier League titles is state owned. Absolute arswipes.

I mean if they did enacted that punishment then the clubs wanting to breakoff would have little to no option but to go through with it.

Everyone wants to have their cake and eat it to in this scenario. The big clubs believe they are entitled to more of the revenue which they help to bring into the league. The leagues are trying to preserve the status quo in a world that has changed a lot since the premiership's inception. I think a compromise may be reached with the olive branch consisting of streaming rights of x amounts of games through the clubs own media channels.

No, this has been happening for years and they keep coming back asking for more. If they want their super league then let them have it but it the mean time they can reap what they sow.
