Agreed but as long as the the broadcasters hold the TV rights teams can't do that. They also know they'd lose money or Newcastle would end up owing money for streaming their games to no one.
I'll say it again: if UEFA want a fair game then the CL should only be for Champions. Don't cry about any shit when the likes of England get 4 places and the likes of Ireland and Scotland get to play 3 qualifying rounds. Absolutely no sympathy for UEFA at all. Now I'm in the unique position where I could just fully leave football and only watch rugby and Gaelic games so maybe I'm being short sighted.

You just need to go through United's Champions League results over the years to find plenty of defeats to teams you'd claim weren't better than the 5th team in England.

How would you feel if United refused to enter the super league but 5 other PL teams went instead? How far would a moral victory actually get us by the time the super league kicked off? You think we'd sign Haaland? Maybe Sancho? What about a Grealish? Forget it, we'd be shopping in the Championship for players.

Think there is bit of a difference between darts and football to be fair, and I do like my darts. If this breakaway means leaving the premier league then i am totally against it, and will stop following the club. If it is instead of the champions league then i couldnt really care less to be honest. Champions league was ruined years ago when they started to allow 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams in for television rights.
The big 3 clubs in Spain have spent a fortune in recent years (Barcelona have spent over 800m euro on signings in the last 4 years as well as having the highest paid player in the world, Atletico over 500m in the same time in addition to having the highest paid manager and Real Madrid spent over 350m in the summer of 2019 alone) as have Juventus. The 2 Milan clubs haven't to the same extent due to issues with their ownership while Liverpool have invested incredibly smartly for the most part and therefore have been able to win major trophies anyway.
So presumably based on the 12 clubs involved and that 7 of them have spent a lot of money, the idea is that Stan Kroenke and Daniel Levy are really going to start splashing the cash when they are guaranteed of the vast majority of their revenue regardless of where the finish?

Mate the biggest issue is that the PL allowed it happen. Why allow this shit to happen and then cry foul at the consequences? The PL should have stepped in and said that no way could we be bought and have that debt put on the club. Now what we have is the PL calling 'fair play'. These problems were created by the likes of PL and UEFA alone and no one else. "Wow scumbag owners who only care abut themselves are acting in a selfish way"! The time to stop this was years ago but they did nothing and now this is the result.
By the way we are already the relative bottom feeders in the PL now anyway.

I think it comes down to fan ownership. German supporter clubs have a controlling interest in their clubs which is enshrined in law.
