Thats the thing. They will sort all of that out in the short term. The main thing is, its a coup of UEFA. The big clubs are clearly not happy with them and in truth they have a right not to be. I think an agreement will eventually be made or a new governing body will be created, but for all the top clubs to come together like this, it has to be for far more reasons that simply greed.
Imo UEFA and the individual leagues huffing and puffing will only lead to more alienation. FIFA and the leagues will eventually fold as the game is only popular today because of these teams and players. This is basically a public arbitration. UEFA overemphasized their power and the clubs who made them what they are are fighting back. Talk of greed, death of football, is all an exaggeration. Its annoying and it will take some time, but this matter will be resolved.

I think its relevant more in terms of the way the clubs will look at it, and the way they look at it will, no matter what fans think, eventually be the way we look at it.
If winning the EPL is no longer much of a financial bonus for the Glazers they will tell the manager to focus on Super League games regardless of the EPL fixtures. If United have a EPL game vs Liverpool on Saturday and a Super League Quarter Final vs Madrid on Wednesday and the board tells the United Manager to ignore the league game he will. If fans start seeing that the focus is not on the league then winning the league becomes less important.
pretty much this. Entitled owners who have had their pockets hurt when they werent good enough to qualify for champions league. Arsenal arent a patch on leicester atm but the owners want to ringfence the money they think the football universe owes them, and give two fingers to the champions league and spirit of football. The whole of football is based on the idea that its an infinite game with all sorts of outcomes. Look at Bournemouth for instance - nearly dropped out of league two then rode the leagues up to the premier league. West Ham have a small squad and some financial issues but look as though they might finish higher up the table than the raining champions.
This super league is a pisstake because theres no route in or out. Its not a competition its an exhibition.
It will be fascinating (perhaps morbidly so) to see how managers, coaches and players respond to this publicly now we know the stance of their clubs. I expect most will tow the party line, but conversely could mean a massive shake up in personnel. Wasn't Klopp, for example, really against the idea?

With the news of this wank league being confirmed by our club, I'm genuinely struggling to see the incentives the Glazers might have for NOT just selling the naming rights of Old Trafford to some American shit firm. Today they just took a dump on every fan of the club - feck all will happen - so why not say feck it, and rename Old Trafford the Coca-Cola Arena? Already fits with the colors. I wouldn't put anything past these...... people.

But to form an "exclusive" group of European clubs in an arbitrary period of time is completely unfair to all the other clubs in European football. It goes against the beauty of unpredictability, where a couple of good transfers and a good coach can make clubs like Atalanta qualify for the CL and make Ajax or Lyon reach the semi's.
Hell, there is no guarantee that Liverpool will be as big as in 50 years as they are now. Or Spurs. Or Inter Milan. Maybe they get overtaken domestically. But none of that matters anymore because this group of 15 founding clubs have decided they are exclusive and the rest can go feck themselves.

If there's more than greed involved then they've done a bloody terrible job of managing to actually communicate that to anyone. Given that currently about 95% of football fans are raging against them, including fans of 40 years plus like myself ready to stop supporting our clubs.

Well yeah, it's obviously being done to make money. Nobody is clever for thinking that, I haven't seen any of the statements coming from those involved claim this is an act of charity.
Yes, they want to make money. So does everyone in football. Sky, BT, the Premier League etc etc etc. Wanting to make money isn't 'the' bad reason.
To make money though, they need a good product, so even if it's for selfish reasons, they will want it to be a good product. You've created a hidden agenda that I don't see existing.
Do you think that they think that they are hiding the money aspect or something? When someone builds a stunning hotel, it is ultimately to make money, their interest in guest enjoyment isn't genuine, it doesn't go past wanting it because it leads to more money. They want high satisfaction because they've invested heavily and want a hefty return. I've never cared if the motivations behind creating something is purely greed, as long as I like the product. I know when I buy a coca cola product that I'm contributing towards some greedy wanker's Christmas bonus. I know that when I buy a TV, when I pay to watch a film, when I pay for a Netflix subscription, when I nip through Maccies on the way home and get a McFlurry. I know it when I buy a game like Cyberpunk 2077. The fact that the ultimate goal of those at the top is to make as much money as possible, it doesn't stop me from buying into that. If I held everything to that regard, I'd do nothing, ever. I'd boycott everything.

This already happens though when we play PSG - City - PSG this season. And in reality, the opposite of what you said will happen. Since the SL isn't super incentivized (you get a large chunk of the money for just participating) whereas the PL is, surely the boards would tell the manager to focus on the league since who cares if we're bottom of our SL group that year?

Spurs don't deserve to be a permanent founder club forever and ever for all of perpetuity. They're only ahead of Villa and Everton because of Charity Shield wins, having won a grand total of 2 league titles.

I try to stay cynical in life, partly due to my life experiences and on days like these, I can't say I have cause to doubt myself.
