Do you want the ESL to happen?

With all of these clubs out, I wonder who the three remaining spots will go to?

Ajax surely won't be interested either.

Marseille? Roma? Celtic/Rangers? Galatasaray? Benfica? Valencia? Sevilla?

Edwin Van Der Sar may give them the longest middle finger in football history if they come asking.

But you still going to have Burnley vs Sheffield and Newcastle vs Rangers isn't equal to United vs Newcastle. So I don't really see where you expect more money.
Because Rangers are a bigger team than Burnley. Most of England won't watch Burnley vs Sheff, but most of the UK will watch Rangers vs Newcastle. Marginal probably but a bigger game

Nah, we either stop it dead now or its too late for our clubs. Let's say they split off and then it fails horribly because not enough people watch it. Do you really think the FA will just hand all 6 teams back an immediate place in the top league? At that point the FA will hold literally all the cards.
Eventually it all comes down to economics of it , I believe Clubs would come up with some sort of understanding with UEFA with these super league clubs getting greater share of the spoils .
Domestic league FA aren't the immediate target for these Clubs ,Super league and Domestic leagues can easily coexist.
It's champions league which faces existential crisis.

Obviously. A bomb shell like this doesn't drop after just a brain storming session. Ever since billionaire/state owners became a thing this has been on the horizon. It's the logical next step to turn a sport into a pure entertainment industry product.
I look forward to seeing the undertaker keeping nets and Ric flair managing woooooh

Wow, that's a hard listen? Poor guy.. sounds like I feel.

Hope Sir Alex and Bobby tell United to take their names off the stands.

On the basis the Twattish Twelve threatened legal action because they've already got 4 billion lined up (as if we didn't know their motives before?!), Fergie and Charlton could surely take legal action if needed and argue United are using their names to profit from. Doubt either signed anything?

Every hour of the last 20 has got progressively worse for me. I keep thinking it can't get worse but it does. I've never been so angry and sad at the same time. Right now (and this audio clip maybe pushed feelings to the forefront) but I am absolutely heartbroken.

I’m sure they will win fans over when they announce that teams can have 5 subs in this competition ;)

Nah, you can't have teams in 2 concurrent leagues, and expect them to put focus into the one that brings them less financial reward. It's an existential threat to the domestic leagues too, just slightly delayed.

Do UEFA have clean hands? Absolutely not. The moment they started expanding the champions league, they essentially sacrificed its integrity for the money. Now they’re shocked that the big clubs have banded together to create a super league all for the money. feck UEFA, they helped create this mess.

Instead of expanding an already bloated champions league how about reducing it so that it’s only 2 or 3 clubs in the big leagues who qualify, with the rest going to an expanded knockout only UEFA cup. The quality of competition in both would increase and it would put to death the “top 4 trophy.”

With the almost universal condemnation of this idea I'm hopeful this might somehow get thrown out.

However, the damage is already done to us as a club given that we were one of the 12 who decided this was a good idea, the only way I see any possibility of damage control is if there's widespread condemnation from the players/manager (not gonna happen) or the Glazers go (sadly, unlikely too)

If that was true, NBA wouldn't be such a big deal every year, since there are no promotions/demotions system. They are choosing clubs for worldwide fan count, and Arsenal has millions more than Sevilla.
Besides, the asian and american markets reacted very well to this news. For them, loosing a few european viewers won't make that much of an impact when compared to the number of new viewers they will get. TV contracts will rain down hard, a matter of time.
The passion is on our side, the fans side. But those who manage clubs are businessman and will do what they have to do to make more money. This is something the big clubs were trying to do since the late 80s, we know the day would come. Maybe it will be not this year, but I think it will happen sooner or later.

It is more complicated than just saying "well, look at the NBA". That league (as well as the NHL, MLB and NFL) have been run by cartels since its inception, and have never been run differently. It's how the leagues were created in the first place. The draft system, the playoffs, the entire shebang is created with profits and cartels in mind. European football (or football in general) wasn't created this way.

Nevermind the fact that if a team becomes unprofitable (?), they just move it somewhere else, which has happened plenty of times.
I hate Arsenal and Spurs, but even I would be quite sad if they suddenly became "Arsenal Rome" and "Lisbon Hotspur".

Season ticket holders only currently get a choice to opt out of League Cup or Europa League Games.

We have to buy CL and FA Cup tickets... I see no reason why this would be any different.
maybe we don't know. we don't know if they will be more expensive than Cl games. but equally, you could argue they will likely bet better than most CL games, which are generally dire to till the knockout stages.

I wouldn't say that equates to a slap in the phase to fans. Better quality opposition equates to a rise in price. like season tickets go up when teams get promoted to the PL, or even in most cases Div 1 to championship.

Of course, i may change my mind when the ticket price comes out, but currently, everything these clubs are doing is disrespectful to the game, but not to there own fans.

There's no going back from here. United are all in.

We'd best get used to the idea of an ESL.

We will need to see how things pan out in the coming weeks and months. If the Super League goes ahead as proposed, that will be it for me. If we are kicked out of the Premier League, it's all over. If we remain in the Premier League, with around 400 million per year basic for six clubs and only a fraction of that for the rest, any semblance of a fair competition is dead. The 'big six' already have a massive financial advantage, but it still isn't enough for them: they want total domination of their domestic leagues and a closed shop in Europe.

This looks really bleak, unless the Super League clubs can be convinced to back down from this lunacy.

Looks like I will finally be rocking up at FC United, fifteen years late and with a massive apology. I will not watch a single minute of any closed shop Super League.

Joan Laporta in January: "I think the European Super League represents everything that is wrong with football. It's all about the money, you lose the essence of the beautiful sport"
Will Laporte change his mind?

What's the point of playing in a CL that doesn't include these 15 clubs and will obviously pay far less because it isn't prestigious anymore. In fact, now these Super League clubs will make so much more money that Everton can forget ever closing the financial gap with let's say Spurs or Arsenal. How is it different from Everton battling it out with Napoli and Roma in the Europa League?

You are missing the point of merit and competitiveness. These 15 clubs should not get to dictate that they are exclusive and automatically qualify for a Super League.

They've already been doing it sadly for 20-30 years.

I mean, when was the last time Real and Barca didn't qualify for the CL?

We've been out of it a couple of times, but still UEFA bent the rules so clubs like ourselves who have dropped in performance still had a better chance of qualifying by creating a top 4 qualification route even.

Football has been dying a slow, sh*tty death for about 30 years.

This is the first step if successful towards a permanent move from domestic competition. In 10 years time their weekday competition would be the main weekend competition!

Manchester has a population of 550,000. Birmingham has a population of 1.1m. If there's no Super League team in Birmingham and 2 in Manchester, then why wouldn't some business guy think that could be a great opportunity for relocating into an untouched market? Or why stay in the UK at all if its an international league anyway?

Yep on a market/demographic basis, there is absolutely no reason why there'd be even one team in Manchester.

Greater Manchester is around 3 million in a 10 mile radius and the largest urban area outside of London. It's just towns surrounding never merged. The City of Salford used to have over a million in it. So called Manchester (1 in the pic )is just a sliver and was extended into Stockport for the Airport.

I think the guaranteed spot in the league, and the initial teams chosen is what I don't like.

If they simply replaced the champions league and had some sort of promotion relegation system I could get behind it maybe.

But then it would not be the easy money cash cow that the clubs starting it want it to be. That's the point. This is nothing to do with taking on uefa and making a better competition it's all about making more money for these individuals at the top.

Because that's why franchises move in US sport, to exploit local markets. Stadiums are exploited to the fullest and generates revenues while local fanbases bring huge commercial revenues, they don't move just for the sake of moving.
Then the first ruling of the UK governments should be to force all football clubs to seek governments and fans approval to move out of a stadium.

The post literally said they are unhappy about having 2 teams in Manchester and 3 in London and will consider moving them.

Of course it will be city moved from Manchester but that's not the point.
I may have confused the post with many others which are saying the NFL move clubs around cities in the states. I don't think that will happen here.

Would love it if/when this falls flat on its arse and they have to go back pretending it didn't happen, tails between their legs. Mobsters and leeches might have played their cards a bit too early.

Anyone spot the really basic error here?

It's been leaked that the 12 clubs would consider moving the clubs around because they aren't happy there is 2 Manchester and 3 in London.

What does that have to do with anything?

The same PSG that has essentially corrupted both FIFA and UEFA and the world cup, I think it has a lot to do with it since his club is one of the main reasons this ESL has escalated.

As a club no we didn't decide, the fans, the players where not asked therefore it was Woodward and co decision they're not Manchester United, the fans, players, manager is not these bloated bankers.
