Harry Kane | "I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100% focused on helping the team achieve success."

Obviously the kind of works class player you just find a way to fit your team. However I do think him and Chelsea would be an awkward fit. They play very high tempo inter changeable tactics. Kane is used to move around but he is too static for what they are trying to build in west London. City looks a decent fit. United too.

if city does get him then we and other clubs can kiss goodbye to the title as that’s completely gone for the next few seasons. They’ll no doubt strengthen in other areas too.

everyone else is just playing for top 4.

Kane to City this summer, Haaland to join Sancho at Utd next season.

Liverpool sticking with Salah, Mane and Firmino forever more.

You'll seriously say no to a player in his prime years who has been one of the best strikers in England and world football over the past half decade? That is just madness, in my opinion.

I would say no if it means we don't strengthen the areas in more need. This is what we have been doing the last 10 years. Looking to make the marquee signing who is the last piece of the jigsaw and not fix the foundations.

Look if we can get a CB, CDM and Kane, great go at it. But mark my words, if the only business we do over the summer is Kane coming in then we won't finish any better than this year.

Kane to City is almost game over for us unfortunately, but still, we can't pay that much, that's all.

I don't feel as though he's a "city" signing. Maybe wishful thinking from me but I just don't see them paying that sort of fee for a CF who is 28

Does the CB & CDM's have to be elite level or would you take prospect signings with Kane

100 million plus Lingard. Get it done Ed(win)

I personally doubt he will leave. Levy will demand a massive fee, and Kane still has 3 more yrs on his contract and is not the sort that throws toys out of the pram.

City will continue to dominate the league for years to come. He will go there and win a few trophies.

It’s not like money is an issue (plenty of oil still), but Aguero’s wages will cover Kane’s and they’ll probably get him for the now customary £60m - £65m ;)

----------------Kane
Rashford-Bruno-Greenwood
----------Pogba---6
Shaw--Maguire---4---WanBissaka

Puts us right up there

He's going to City though.

It looks like Levy promised him he could leave last year.
Maybe, but not at any price. They didn't agree on a release fee and Levy will always say the offers received are too low and unacceptable. Spurs have a huge stadium debt and they will demand top dollar for their most prized asset, since they will also need to replace him and rebuild the squad.

In isolation whether we sign Kane or not doesn't particularly bother me, even though I think CF is an issue for us. It's not like we don't have other issues, after all.

However, the thought of City signing Kane does worry me. They are currently better than us and the goal is to overtake them next season. That becomes a hell of a lot harder if they fix the glaring fault in their side by bringing in the league's top CF.

We can close some of the gap by strengthening other positions, like CB or CM. But I struggle to see those improvements having a greater impact than Kane arriving as CF in City's team would.
You're right, it would push them even further out of our orbit but I don't think we should be occupying ourselves with City's plans right now.

All we can focus on is how we improve the areas in the squad that have let us down this season. Signing Kane out of fear rather than necessity is the kind of vainglorious move we would've made before Ole took over. The kind of move I'm hoping we've moved beyond. And I say that as someone who would love to see Kane in a United shirt.

Even so, if it's 3 top players to improve the whole side or just pinning everything on Kane alone, I'd hope and expect that Ole would do the right thing and focus on the weak spots.

We would if we knew martial was off...

a part ex involving Martial would suit all parties.

we know Martial really needs a new start, and if spurs do offload Kane - finding any sort of replacement is going to be hard for them.

Martial + £50m could actually be quite a reasonable comprise for them.

Striker isn't really an area of strength. The gulf between Cavani and the rest is massive, and Cavani is unlikely to play a huge proportion of games next season. Plus he's gone in 12 months and then there is very likely no one available to replace him, unless Kane and Haaland stay available for another season, and even then we're back to that old chestnut of being desperate and exploitable. If Kane or Haaland are free this summer, we should be going all out to get one, specially whilst we have two players in VDB and Martial who are nice incentives for a swap.

Are we liable to lose out on Sancho by waiting another year? Maybe, but probably not. I'd be happy with Greenwood at RW for another season. But this summer feels like the last opportunity to get a quality, long-term number 9 as I can't think of anyone other than Kane and Haaland that improve us to such an extent.

I think they need to be proven. My thought process is you try and strengthen your weakest areas with high quality and sign prospects for the areas you are already strong. If you look through our squad, it could be argued that after LB and GK, forwards are our next strongest area if you consider who we can field. Our problem is we can't control games and play well on the front foot. Why?

1) because we have a CM that is literally one of the worst in the league. Fred and Scott would start for almost any other team in the division as a pair.

2) Our starting two CBs just don't compliment eachother, they have the same weaknesses which means we are forced to play with two poor (see point 1) holding midfielders at the expense of playing a world cup winner in the position he helped lead his country to the world cup.

I am a massive fan of Kane. But just like Arsenal or Everton signing him wouldn't chance their positions massively, I don't think it will change ours. If watching how City and Liverpool have set new league standards over the past few years can teach anything. It's that you need to strong squad position to position, not just superstar amongst dross.

Kane transfer fee £65m

In completely non related news, Spurs' stadium debt is reduced by £200m after selling the naming rights to newly christened London Etihad Superdome

He agent must be crap. Why would you tie yourself to Spurs for so long with no release clause?

Not a City-type signing, even less so a Pep-type one. I think Pep's absolutely loving not having to field a central forward.

I desperately wish some actual fans could communicate to the higher ups that Kane is precisely the type of signing we don't want, even if it would be marketing gold.

We need a DMF, RWF far, FAR more than a striker now that Cavani is staying, and Greenwood is rediscovering his incredible form.
Kane would cost the whole transfer kitty.
He'll be 28, consistently misses large chunks of the season with an ever increasing injury list, and he's clearly already lost a few steps.

Please, someone take Ed's fax machine away.

Wasn't van Persie nailed on for City until Fergie had a word?

as was Sanchez, Maguire and Fred… doesn’t really matter how they turned out. Just because city want a player doesn’t automatically mean he’s going there.

If he goes, and that’s a big if, I think it’s 50/50 between us and city.

expect fergie to get involved in this one!

Yeah I am sure he will but think the likelihood is we have moved on now Edi is staying for another year which is the right thing despite being a big fan of Kane but there is no doubt we need a CB, CDM & RW above that much as he is a sure fire thing
