Living not far from Wolverhampton and with loads of family and friends and most of the locals supporting them, I’m always happy with a win against these.

Great effort from the players today. :)

I'm delighted the youngsters and squad players managed to keep the unbeaten away record going, and a nice ending to what threatened to be an understandably disappointing end to a good league campaign.

Great to see a goal for Elanga, and good performances from various other youngsters. And nice to see league debuts for Hannibal and Fish. I've loved watching Hannibal at youth levels and hopefully this was his first of many games for us.

James should have rounded the keeper, pathetic attempt at goal. He knows it was a bad and try to act there is something stuck to his boots. Not Utd quality.
Yer his decision making is so off for a top team.
Had a great chance to put himself back in Oles thoughts and instead went and confirmed our suspicions, shite

Really entertaining performance, the Matic/VdB/Mata trio were great for 65 minutes and Amad was very impressive. Axel has surely locked his spot for the EL final and it was great seeing Elanga get his first senior goal and Hannibal get his debut.

Loved our passing and control of the ball. As well as the already mentioned players I think Brandon had a good game.

P.S.
Neves was class. We should buy him.

VDB to be fair to him had probably his best game in a Utd shirt I think. Which is quite a compliment to him when he was playing in such a thrown together team.

If only Matic wasn't so bloody old. We need an upgrade on him.

Already mentioned it once, but I'm so excited about Hannibal.

This game belongs to many great games we have played this season. Watching the youngsters playing well is the best! Some of them just need to grow a little bit more muscle and get more minutes in the level to make the next step. Happy for them.

Much more enjoyable than I anticipated and nice to go into a final on the back of a win, with key players having had a week's rest and an unbeaten away season.

Clearly a good deal of promise in the youngsters. Wolves having been a pain in our arse in the past it was nice to pish on their Bonfire.

Good , solid performance from an u23/bit part players.
Tuanzebe to get the nod to partner Lindelof on Wednesday(surely).
Finally Donny shows that he can perform in a United shirt and Hannibal is going to be top class.

Might be last games today for Mata and Matic. Both been good servants.

I've been critical of both in recent years, struggling in fast paced games but both played well today, wish them well

Was it just me or was that performance some of the best stuff we’ve played all season moving the ball through midfield?

There were some really decent performances and you know what sometimes Matic just produces performances where it’s like why can’t you do this all season. Thought he was good today. Was impressed with Amad Elanga and Donny. Williams was much improved as well and Dan James actually put in a decent ball.

some time within the next couple of years we could have a team like
Henderson
AWB (Laird) Axel (Fish) Maguire(Mengi) Shaw (? I hope Wijndal from AZ)
Bruno (Donny) Garner(? I hope Gravenberch from Ajax) Hannibal (Shoretire)
Amad (Mason) Mason (Martial) Rashford (Elenga)

I thought Donny and Matic really complemented each other well today in midfield.

I also thought Williams, Amad and Elanga had good showings.

Love me some Mata, but he looked spent after 50 min. Wonderful pen.

Bailly and Tuanzabe were quite solid in the back.

And finally, what more to be said about James. I think two years of chances is enough. I love the lad's work ethic, but the nerve and intelligence in the final third just isn't there. I always take stats with a grain of salt, but 9 goals in 71 matches for a forward (according to DAZN announcer) is not good enough IMO.

I realize he is quite young, but just don't see him ever becoming top team level. Can't when speed is his only offensive weapon.

I liked this game tbf. The second half could've been better obviously but given the rotated eleven I thought the lads did a very good job.

James should have rounded the keeper, pathetic attempt at goal. He knows it was a bad and try to act there is something stuck to his boots. Not Utd quality.

You miss the cross he put in for the first goal? Must be fun only looking at the negatives of a players performance.

Great win. Unexpected result given we were facing the first team of tricky opponent away and with a crowd.

The biggest takeaway from today is that Van de Beek disproved the fools that said he's not been good enough this season as the reason he's not played. 2x the player Fred is and at least 5x what McT can ever dream to be.

we rested 10 important players who would start in the final, as well as Greenwood who would definitely come off the bench. that's should allow for better preparation for the final

Great result all things considered. The youngsters in particular can feel pleased with what they gave today. A million miles better than against Leicester.

Best summation. I had zero expectations with that lineup. Not to say I was expecting anything bad, I just had no idea what we'd see. This lot acquitted themselves very well.

Elanga was much stronger this game than against Leicester. Amad did fine. James had good movement in the middle, but his finishing...

Van de Beek finally had a good game, and played well with Matic (who seemed a bit quiet) and Mata, who I'm glad took and made the pen.

Thought we played very well defensively, and Tuanzebe was my MotM for his efforts keeping Henderson out of trouble. Only downside to me was Williams on the ball - he doesn't seem to know what to do with it about half the time.

Ole took a bold track with this and got the points as a reward. The squad was impressively strong for the duration of the match, which was one of my main fears. Good on him doing what he did, we should be VERY fresh for Villareal.

A couple of key buys this summer and we should a solid basis for a squad for the next four or five years. Yeah, the kids are alright...

I am genuinely excited for the future. I have a feeling (hope more like) that Ole will be bolder with his selections and approach to games now that he has somewhat established himself with the fans and owners. We got a glimpse in the first 25 minutes of how I think he sees his team playing when he has his pieces in place. We dazzled them at times with sharp incisive passing and pressing, also progressive midfield .

Brandon's lack of progress has been really disappointing. If I would have earmarked any player coming through as a cert for not taking his foot off the gas once he made his breakthrough it would have been Brandon. I fear that may have happened to some extent. I have seen him smiling with opponents a few times during games which isn't the same focussed player I watched coming through the academy/u23s and during his first stint with the first team. He needs to get that all-consuming attitude back into his game. Of course it could just be he isn't good enough, and I do think he struggles with the physicality and pace of the premiership. So hard to gauge which players can make the step up.

Glad we kept the unbeaten away record going.

Big change from last season in the same fixture thankfully.

Great to see Hannibal and Fish making their debuts.

Really good to see some good football with a team that has not played together before. Tactics worked fine with the false 9, Axel, Amad, and VdB very good.

Descent game. Taking the line up into consideration it was a very good match.

I see a lot of potential in Elanga, Diallo and Hannibal. They have a very bright future ahead of them.

I also discovered what a clever player DVB is. Seems like the other players didn’t understand him, especially in the beginning - like they avoided him when he invited or wanted the ball.

Bailly was big boss in defence, and I’m glad his contract was extended.

I also hope we keep Williams. He sporadically offer something to the team. I like his offensive runs. He off course need to spend som more time in the gym and develop a more rough defensive play, but that should be quite easy. He has plenty of time and we all should be patient with him.

The one thing that won’t be easy is that Williams will learn how to defend properly. He really possesses no sense whatsoever, is very rash and switches off more often than my busted kettle.

We have a better one in the wings in Laird. I’d rather not sign a back up RB but this kid will really need to up his game

So that’s how to beat Wolves easily. Play the U23!
Ole probably had no intention anyway to play Rashford, Greenwood or McT today. They just travelled to support the other academy lads :)

Our academy wins again.

Has any manager given more minute to academy players? Or more debuts? And they've all had their own moment too.
LVG gave debuts to 15 United players: Lingard, Fosu-Mensah, Reece James, Andrea Pereira, Tyler Blackett, Donald Love, Regan Poole, Borthwick-Jackson, James Weir, Guillermo Varela, Saidy Janko, Tom Thorpe, Joe Riley, Rashford. Clearly a lot of these were one time only.

Blimey. Unfortunately only Lingard and Rashford were any good out of that lot. You could argue Pereira, as he should have a decent enough career.

Does Varela count? He was a Moyes signing was he not?

How shit was James’ effort at a dink over the keeper? Great cross for the goal with his left foot. Maybe he’s actually left-footed but he hasn’t noticed?
