It does matter - I take it none of them were proper Utd fans then - Smith moved from Leeds when they got relegated so it's a totally different situation to what Harry is facing.

For goodness sake. You are being foolish. As multiple people in the thread have said, we don’t expect him to move to Chelsea directly from spurs.

There is a need when you can’t even take on a simple point.

what club a footballer supported as a child, or who they’ve played for matters very little. We would all love to think it does, but it doesn’t. Most people can comprehend such a simple point.

Harry wants to have a chance to win trophies, it is clear that that will not happen at Spurs. He has shown his loyalty already by staying for these many years, if Spurs cannot match his ambition, it is only fair to let him move.

Harry has to think about his career, not about who he supports.

I'm not arguing against that - I agree with that. My point is that I don't feel Harry would agree to join a direct rival to Spurs because of his strong love of the club. I could be wrong of course but everything I know about the guy tells me he wouldn't contemplate it.

i think it’s more than fair to say you are being foolish (in my opinion). If you are taking that as offensive, then I apologise - but think your persistence in light of lots of examples where players have done exactly what you don’t think Kane will do Is exactly as I’ve described.

Ole, O’Shea were Liverpool fans growing up. Carragher was an Everton fan

and so on. Wouldn’t read too much into it

I've worn a Liverpool shirt to appease my dad. I don't give a feck about wearing shirts as long as people know what club I support. It's a bit of a kid thing.

Posting a picture of him in an Arsenal top is just daft logic to insinuate he'd be fine with Arsenal or Chelsea or whatever as a club. His time with Spurs overrides all of that, I don't think Levy will even entertain something let alone a choice falling on Harry in the first place.
 
The real question is, why did Kane sign a new contract and committed his future to Spurs in the first place back when he did? He may have a feeling at the time that Pochettino is the real deal and to be fair a few years ago Spurs looked like a very competitive side on the verge of winning something. Still, knowing Levi and his history of dealings with top players trying to leave Tottenham (Modric, Berbatov, Carrick), if I were Kane I'd have insisted on a stipulation added to my contract before I put pen to paper and sign any extension, that if in say a couple of years another club comes with an offer no less than a certain agreed amount, I'm free to leave. Granted, Levi is probably too shrewd to agree to something like that, but there's no chance in hell he'd have allowed Kane see out a contract and leave on a free.

A great footballer does not a great businessman make.

In general, the agents should be taking care of this. However, this means you would have to pick the right agent. Plenty of great players make wrong choices that stifle their potential.

everyone could see at the time this was a shocking deal to sign just for the length of time. Even if he wanted to stay, it meant he has no leverage in terms of what he gets paid for 3-4 years. To sign a deal that likely covers half of your career (6 years) is ridiculous.

agents in the game get a bad rep, but whoever has been acting for Kane has had an absolute mare.

Would he have moved to United if he had left Liverpool and for whatever reason had to find a new club after his first transfer, with Liverpool long term adrift in mid table..? Yeah, I could see that happening.

The argument that you are not responding to is that it is not as comparable as you'd like to make it.

....he was eight years old at Arsenal's academy. Even if he supported them as a child you can't hold the actions of a freaking 8 year old as some form of evidence he's not loyal to spurs since he's been with them since age 11. That's like saying "I always wondered if my wife truly loved me. After all, i'll never forget that time she was seen kissing Billy Jenkins outside at breaktime in primary school".
