Day 9: Hungary vs France | Portugal vs Germany | Spain vs Poland

What was Henry doing at his age? Faffing about on the wing at Juve?

Mbappé at 22 is better than Henry at 22, but I'm talking about peak Mbappé vs peak Henry.

Mbappé isn't at his peak yet, he is 22, wait until he is 25 at least to compare with Henry whole career.

I really like this Portugal team. They arguably better on paper this time around than the last time they won it.

Bein better on paper doesn't match the results often.

Wasn't Portugal ultra favorite to win Euro 2004, and then lost the final to Greece?
I think Figo worth as much as the whole Greece starting line-up, or even more probably.

Arguably? This squad is a lot better.

We played the likes of Vieirinha, Eder and semiretired Ricardo Carvalho and Bruno Alves in 2016:lol:

Nani was one of the players of the tournament after being average in Turkey that entire year, it was a miracle

Oh yes well obviously. There's a surprising amount of people that don't take a player's age into account when making their proclamations about how they'll never be as good as X,Y,Z.

What an outstanding result, absolutely miraculous.

Now, on the one hand, France had more than enough chances to win the game so we must be happy with a draw. Especially considering the massive gulf in quality.

On the other hand, a fecking stupid route one goal by the effing world champions, after conceding from double deflections against the Euro champions... it rankles a bit.

But still, this has been fecking incredible. Even if we get destroyed in München.

Age doesn't meant they will end up doing that either. Too many people also assume potential guarantees success. I think that's more prevalent actually.

Low still persisting with the wrong lineup. Hope Portugal crush them on the counter tbh. For some reason in international football I want dumb coaches decisions to be punished more than usual. I'd genuinely like Germany to do quite well, but I don't think it'll happen until they go and just try and copy Bayern's selections which would involve dropping Kroos and Gundogan.

Let's make Ronaldo lose the 5th time in a row against us in a tournament.

Auf geht's Deutschland!

Poor germany team, hobbled by lows rubbish tactics. Expect portugal to win.

Just start, werner, sane, gnarby and havertz. Thats a young, fast and fearsome forward line. But will low do that? No.

I don't disagree but I'll never I'll write off a young player as there is the potential for improvement.

Why is Lowe and the other German dressed exactly the same again. It's weird.

Commentator on RTE said if Germany were looking for good omens they've never lost to a Portuguese side containing Cristiano Ronaldo.

Surely that's a bad omen as its bound to end at some point?

Vamos!

Don't do anything stupid Mr Taylor.

Wouldn't be the first time. Germany's Euro record since 1972:

Group stages: 3 times
Semis: 3 times
Runner-up: 3 times
Winner: 3 times

So top or flop really.

It's an amazing record though.

No wonder Germany has the most points/matches won in the Euro, also the second best team at WCs all time table only surpassed by Brazil.

He absolutely has the potential to be one of the greatest ever. Just maybe not the level of Messi/Cristiano

He's 22 and he's as good as Henry at his peak ffs
I'd have him over Henry at his peak. These people are crazy, if you don't score you suck. He's got these teams on the ropes, when the goals start raining in tunes will be changed.

Hopefully a record Ronaldo would like to break today :)
