Paul Pogba / turned down United offer of 300k as “nothing”

Man Utd are heading towards another disaster transfer window. If Pogba leaves, we have nothing lined up to replace him. As much as the Jordan Sancho transfer to United catches the untrained eye, the fact is it is strengthening in an area where we are strong. Our weakest positions are in central midfield. With Pogba we are weak. Without him and with nothing lined up... we are toothless there. Another season of McTominay and Fred beckons. And while they have been good servants, if you compare them to Jorginho and Kante at Chelase...well the Stamford Bridge lads are a class apart.

Alll the excitement of the Sancho transfer was extracted as a result of how protracted it was. Like with Fernandes. Now the Verane deal is in trouble because Real want £50m and we will only pay £50m. The Trippier deal has gone quiet and interest in Eduardo Camavinga is stalling.

Right now we are nowhere near challenging for honours. Pogba's departure places us even further away.

Honestly wouldn't be arsed if he left. Imo one of the most infuriating players to watch and massively overrated. That good he can't cement his own position down and more than once last season the balance of the team suffered to shoehorn him in the side.

Exactly! Which makes it all the stranger then when fans get frustrated with truly creative or flair players. Pogba is heavily scrutinised for losing the ball, forgetting the fact that he pretty much always produces at least one big chance per game. He’s also a joy to watch yet that seemingly gets ignored too.
The issue is that he's playing in central midfield. An attacking player can get away with a riskier style of play, losing the ball or inconsistency. But the central midfield should be providing a solid base for the team to function around, and then putting creativity and flair on top of that. Pogba struggles to provide that stability - he can do it for a game here and there but there's no consistency.

Getting verratti in place of pogba would be an enormous upgrade

Why would Verratti have any interest in coming here?

We would do well to get Paredes out of Pogba moving to PSG. Early last season I thought he would have been a good signing to give the option of a natural playmaking no.6 in the squad as he couldn't get into the team, but Pochettino came in and gave him more game time. Wijnaldum and Pogba don't play his position but Paredes could still see his chances significantly reduced as a result of their signings. He is a good passer and made a difference to PSG's play with too much of the same from Herrera, Gueye and Danilo Pereira prior to Pochettino's arrival - would be a good signing.

This post is literally dripping drama. I’m exhausted just reading it. Need to sit down and do some research into Jordan Sancho, never heard of him.

Hyperbole and you have no idea whether or not they've got someone lined up. Every day there's a new link to a CM or DM. There's still another month of window to go yet. Don't understand the need for drama when we're making good signings and have other big signings lined up.

What a poor take. United have lacked an RW since forever, it has been our most important position to find for years. We are clearly also looking for a CB.

We don’t need a DM (as much as I want one) because we don’t play in a setup that requires one as a stand alone.

So much hyperbole in here. Drama and sensationalism.

Fans driving talent away from the club apparently. Poor little snowflakes.

Pogba isn't important to our first team.

McFred helps Shaw/AWB to push higher up the flanks, and give Bruno more freedom to get in and around the box.

Pogba gives you more individualistic gif-worthy moments. But Manchester United are a better team without him.

Agreed on most of what you said except the Pogba part.

Yeah he's talented but imo him leaving is in fact a bless in disguise for us.

First, we don't have that fat fecker and his circus around anymore. Pogba won't renew so having him around only make things worse for the dressing room. And it's not like he or the fat fecker or his circus don't have a big mouth anyway.

Second, if we manage to sell him we'd have more money for our transfer budget and considerably free up our wages bill.

Finally, he can't defend well enough to play as a midfielder, he's not effective as Bruno as an attacking midfielder, he's not fast enough to dislodge Rashford on the left.

His best place will be on the bench and some occasional minutes here and there, for all that money and noises. Plus Bruno and Sancho will need a lot of possession to be effective. You add Pogba to that and you'd have a huge balance issue if you'd try to play the three together. I don't mind him being here, we'll have more options and a good sub but it's just too expensive and troublesome.

The context is that Pogba generally played in the easy games whereas McFred played in the more difficult games against the big 6.

If you add context, Pogba comes out looking even worse.

I think it's for the best to let him go. It just doesn't sit right to have him here and it never will.

This is why I don’t understand the doom and gloom if he leaves. Great individual player on his day but he has less than a handful of these over the course of the season, yet if we sell him some caf members are sounding like we are going to get relegated.

Our best player according to some. No bids from anyone and even some of the fans of the club he’s linked to don’t want him. This really doesn’t surprise me, he flatters to deceive and is so good he needs everyone around him to be world class to perform. We were robbed!

Pogba is important to us. When he was out last season, we struggled as we were only relying on Bruno. He is a very important player for us.

However he also does not really fit into our 4-2-3-1 formation, and our squad. And his contract is running out and he is on very high wages.

Its best to sell now. 40-50M. Get whatever you can and sell him. But also know that when we sell him our midfield would look like this :

Midfield : Matic, McT, Fred
AM : Bruno, VdB

That's a painfully average midfield apart from Bruno. So we do need to buy.

Now a swap deal with Madrid for Varans sounds good. But do Madrid want him rather than money for Varane?

Really unfortunate news. I just hope we replace him with the right quality. Letting Pogba leave and not signing a replacement midfielder will be insanely naive.
We did the same with Lukaku.

That's the issue I have with Pogba leaving, we'd need to spend considerably more on a worthy replacement than we can get for him. It's true that he doesn't really fit, but without him, we lack quality and creativity in the middle.

Best case, although not very likely, would be keeping Pogba for the season and replacing him with free agent Goretzka next season.

It would leave us dangerously short of creativity from midfield, with no concrete rumours of any replacement.
He’s not really done much here and the fanfare around him suggests he’s some kind of superstar who’s performed week in week out a la Ronaldo when he left. Sell him, but only if we actually replace him with someone/people who work in our system.

We were strong at right wing despite having no right wingers?

What’s the history behind the banner? It’s clearly not for footballing reasons if they mention his mother.

Paul can produce some really magic moments, unfortunately they are few and far between. If he was more consistent in his performances he would be worth a better contract. At times he is all hype and no substance. I actually like Paul as a person, but the people he surrounds himself with I can do without.

What’s the history behind this then?

Paul Pogba in 2018:

“I’m sure that I wouldn’t play club football at the Parc des Princes.

“I’m not attracted to that because my father and mother were fans of Marseille so Paris doesn’t really fit into my plans.”

This shows we wont miss him too much on field, we will lose some commercial revenue though

If we replace one of McT/Fred with a quality player like Saul/Goretzka i think that will restore balance in the midfield and we might win more matches, I like Pogba but his leaving could help us
