I was thinking that. That we might borrow from next season's budget to get Kane a year early and just leak that there will be no major signings next summer.
I only give it a 10% chance realistically, because I think Ole wants Haaland and because we haven't made any big money in sales this summer. But i wouldn't be surprised if United are still being kept in the loop and ready to swoop if City start pissing Spurs off.
There's zero chance we're paying the required £150m+ for one player. We've made two great signings, but now there's credible reports saying that we need to sell before we sign another. No chance we got that type of money for one player. We're talking about City or PSG. That's it.

Thing is, this ‘Gentleman’s agreements’ means absolutely nothing in real terms.

1) He's their player. He signed a contract. They're under no obligation to sell.
2) Yes, if he wants to leave, he should put in a formal transfer request and therefore waive any bonuses/payments he may be owed.
3) Revealing details of the contract while still under said contract would be very immature and unprofessional
4) Why does it need clearing up for everyone? The people who know what it says are the only people who matter.
That isn't necessarily true, it depends how it's framed, if there are any witnesses to it or associated paper trail.
Don't see what he's got to lose now by just explaining what agreement he thinks he has to go and why he's on strike.
They might be under obligation to sell depending on what the side agreement is. Probably have to go to court to force it though. Like with the Suarez Arsenal bid years ago. Even if you have a release clause club can just say no and court is the only recourse.
Per 3 and 4 Kane is being portrayed as the bad guy when he's the one presumably being screwed over by Levy not following what was agreed.
So he should set the record straight, put in a transfer request and take every measure he can to force the club to follow whatever agreement he thinks he has.

feck that. Kane is the City signing the rest of the league should fear not "most fouled floppy haired guy" Jack Grealish. He's been topping the scoring charts nearly every season and now is racking up assists too. City signing him really will make them incredible strong.
Yeah there's a moral defence there for him with the fans, if he confirms he's been promised verbally he can leave.
But the whole premise of a verbal agreement that totally undermines the written legal contract is a bit silly in legal terms.

Love how people are so willing to take Pep's quotes at face value, as if there's no possibility of an ulterior motive or agenda behind them. Also, is it just me or is Man City's official twitter tweeting his quotes about Kane totally unprofessional?
Also what really matters is whether this supposed gentleman's agreement specified a fee. As I can't see how Levy would have promised to sell him for 100 millions even a year or two ago. For them he's worth more and now given City spent the same fee on Grealish he's worth much more.

So, apparently Grealish has cost them 40m because they've recouped 60m last year in player sales. I think, for all the rhetoric of, "how can City do this? FFP is dead", you have to concede that they are simply doing something well; releasing wages from the club in free transfers, prolifically securing player loans away, and selling unwanted assets to raise capital.

1. If there was a release clause then Man City would just have to trigger it, like they did with Grealish, no requirements for negotiation, which shows clearly there is no release clause.

Levy could have easily said if the right bid comes you can go, Spurs have maintained for 18 months he is valued at 150m, so why would they want to give a 50m discount ?
This £100m is a made up figure by Kane, its a bit coincidental that he said to sky sports £100m and City offering that...

Personally, I think he realised made a massive mistake signing a 6 year contract and is trying every way possible to get him out the club.
He is coming to the realisation that he needs to win trophies and time is running out.
No one in their right mind would have signed a 6 year deal at Spurs with no get out clause.
He screwed up by employing Del Boy, who was out of his depth, to get him inadequate wages and trying to negotiate with Levy.
