Newcastle United now owned by the PIF | PL receives "legally binding assurances that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will not control NUFC" ;)

Londoner here. Manchester is my 2nd fav City and if I didn't live down here it would be up there and this is nothing to do with United. Even my mother said she loves Manchester.

So much going on. The city is building loads of scrapers and it's such a multi cultural place, it'll never be greater than London or look as pretty as Paris but it is a very good city.

I'm a Londoner who lives in a city about 1.5 hours away from Manchester. I have spent many weekends in that city. I love it there. It's not London, but I love it there.

While I do agree with you that it doesn’t make sense, this ignores the fact that someone did in fact offer 2b for Arsenal. So we do actually have a market price to work with. And it’s also worth noting that the 2b offer was rejected, and that Chelsea would be worth more.
Great, now point me where in my post did I mention anything about Chelsea being valued less than Arsenal.

He ain’t staying long :)

Good for him and I think he negotiated a big pay out if he's fired if reports are to believed. I foresee a Christmas exit for Bruce as they identify targets and also stabilize the club a bit. Have to hurt for Rafa Beneathus, having waited out so long and how managing a skint Everton.

You are going off the reservation here.

Let me restate the point I was trying to make : Chelsea has turned out to be a profitable investment for Abramovich based on a minimum valuation of 2b, derived from Forbes and and a similar offer being made for Arsenal.

That’s it. Nothing to do with you. Now you can rebut this or agree with it.

The Fat Waiter should have waited a bit longer?

Everton are not skint.

I'd be bailing if that was my club. Would rather wait another 61 years for a trophy.

Tbf, I used to like Everton till you lot treated Moyes very unfairly. I'm sure you don't want an owner like that and your owner is loaded as well, but due to the mismanagement of previous years, you are looking at managing your finances a bit. Newcastle don't have that kind of limitations for a spending spree now. I also have to say that Rafa specifically was waiting for this takeover while he was the manager of Barcodes and then didn't take a job waiting for this to happen.

Well, there is alleged FFP in operation in the PL. We'll see how long that last (LOL).

If this goes through Newcastle will become premier league champions before Manchester United.

It’s funny seeing the media portraying this as a good thing for Newcastle and it’s poor downtrodden fans, all hail the Saudi saviours! rescuing their poor souls from the beast that is Mike Ashley.

I bet your bottom dollar that if it had of been us being taken over by them the talk of their human rights abuse, Khashoggi etc would of been at the forefront of the headlines.

If they want to invest in January they'd do worse than take a few of our players off our hands, could see Martial & Bailly playing for the Toon. Maybe even VdB.

I think you’re being as naive as everyone was when City’s takeover came.

They can, and will, blow everyone out of the water for wages and fees. They already have a large passionate fanbase and unlike City, a thriving Newcastle has huge appeal from the off.

It’s the club of Gasgoigne, Shearer and Keegan, not Shaun Goater and Wright-Phillips.
That might be true in the UK but outside of it, Newcastle United are no more well-known or popular than Manchester City. For foreign players, the appeal is pretty much the same: money and the prospect of winning stuff.

cheaper housing too. This lady works in my company based in Canary Wharf but she stays in Manchester on a London salary similar to mine. She basically lives in a brilliant house. In fact Man Utd players live near her.

Very true.

I live down south and 10 years ago you would never have seen a kid in a city shirt. There's tons of them now.

Absolutely no doubt it will happen to the magpies

I grew up with Liverpool and then Man United fans in London. It's natural for glory hunters to spring up, always has been.

Media will lap it up in about a month. Who cares what that regime represent and what kind of country it is. Football has gone mad years ago.

More state owned clubs, WC every 2 years, Super Leagues attempting to form, the romance in football is slowly but surely dwindling away.

because it is such a romantic thing when football is basically about 3 richest countries and their capitals, like it has been the case for a while now.

More likely to be like Everton. Spending money on shitebags like Iwobi, Sigurdson, Kean etc.

Not so sure. Newcastle are a genuine sleeping giant, and these owners have serious money.

Everton have Liverpool right next to them and Utd and City just across the way. Newcastle don’t have any other currently huge teams as very close geographical neighbours.

It’ll take a few years, as with City, but if they employ the right football people, and connect with the (huge) and loyal fanbase, Newcastle will be right up there.

Slightly naive. They will simply spend an absolute shitload of cash, exactly as City did. Newcastle will inevitably rise to the top of the game within the next 3-5 years.
