I am trying desperately hard to keep that poll going but being worn down slowly by the usual suspects talking up Pochettino
it's pretty bizarre. I understand people might prefer Ten Hag, but there's some serious undervaluing going on around here when it comes to Poch.

Why? There's no evidence to suggest Ten Hag could handle a club like United, let alone be competitive in the PL.
They didn’t win anything, but like - it’s still Tottenham! Taking Spurs to a champions league final is a bloody great achievement. Under him they went from a laughing stock to a serious proposition, and we never had an easy game against them. I feel like that’s a base level we need to recover before we start thinking about winning anything tbh.

It's because people didn't like the football Spurs played in his last year and have concerns over his methods.

That is tongue in cheek as I think Ten Hag seems very talented and would probably do a fine job but I would probably put him slightly behind Pochettino in my choosing based on the fact that Pochettino has already shown that he can make a "banter club" into a serious threat in the top league and can do so with difficult owners.

We have seen Poch at work and probably seen his ceiling, I am up for taking a chance on a up and coming manager. Ajax isn't a small club and Ten Hag has excelled in the CL. Nothing suggests he couldn't make the step.

The thinking is that if he can get Spurs to 86 league points (far better than any tally we've managed post-Fergie), and reach a CL final with a net spend of a midtable team, he'll be able to make that final step with the sort of players we can attract to the club, and the sort of squad depth we can build. Now football doesn't work that way that just because you can buy better players then you'll be more successful. But at the very least there's some logic to the appointment. With Ole, he had no credentials to even suggest he was a premier league level manager, arguably not even a championship level manager.
Put it this way, if we'd have given Poch the job 3 years ago and he'd have got the £450m Ole has spent, I suspect we'd have a very, very good footballing team right now that we'd be excited about. Unfortunately we've ended up with a team that can't pass, can't press and can't defend.
And no matter what you think of the job he's doing at PSG, the fact he's there in the first place is telling. The likes of Ole and Moyes would never dream of getting a top European job, they wouldn't even be on the radar. Poch was destined to be chosen by an elite club when he left Spurs and it was just a matter of which one was going to pick him up first, and I can't believe they're all fools for recognising his potential.

You can achieve a lot if you have one of the 2-3 strikers in the world in the form of his life. Still it didn't translate to anything tangible for Pochettino

There is a vocational element at times, but these days I can dip in and out I have to admit. The fanaticism has waned, but maybe the new manager will rekindle that.

Having a great striker is not sufficient to take Spurs where he did. He brought them to their highest ever finish and then even higher than that the following season. The only sides finishing above him while he was there (bar final season) were the ones broadly spending more money. He took them to a CL final, he took Southampton to their highest PL finish ever, etc etc.
Your view is just too simplistic. Its one thing having a couple of top players but its another getting the whole team to look collectively better than a sum of their parts, and he did that more often than not.
To me it comes down to who's available right now. If Poch is available right now I'd take him, if he can't join till the summer you have to go for the best manager available at the time, which imo would be Ten Hag barring any bizarre manager changes.

He didn't work with the budget of a midtable team. If you look at how they got the low net spend you will realize that there are no starters outside of Walker, they essentially sold deadwood for good money.
fair enough, but I won't judge a manager based on their CL final hangover. I think everybody, including them, knew that they had gone as far as they could and couldn't get it over the line in the final, and they kind of tanked after that ... but it's not like they've done anything of note ever since sacking Poch. And that dozen of games or so shouldn't taint the good work he did with Spurs before that.
Yes and they are on course to win their league and qualify to the next stage of the Champions League.
If he is willing to come now I think that's a bonus, so we can at least in theory hit the ground running next season.

The game this past Saturday is the first one I've intentionally not watched in a very long time, I'll be sitting with my shitty stream tomorrow tea time, I wish it was easier to dip out like you mate, as I'm completely deflated by the Ole situation and another boring manager on the horizon.
Same, I'm not totally against it but the risk vs reward is just too big on him for him to be considered first choice.
Barcelona, Madrid, Chelsea, Juventus, Bayern, Tottenham, Newcastle, Inter and Roma (to name a few) have all replaced their managers in the last 12 months and not a single one of them were linked with Ten Hag, but apparently we HAVE to get him? Something really doesn't add up when you think about it.
