If Poch comes in I think Tripper follows him about 5 minutes later.
Thought about it. But he is bit old to fill in as wing back for Poch. He always have 4 full backs and likes to rotate them very often and he need all of them to be very hardworking and running.

Don't know, may be he will take Trippier back but i think we should sign Livramento.

I don't think people remember the scale of what Poch walked into at Spurs. Adebayor stinking the place out on big wages, big money signings in Soldado, Lamela, Paulinho who were massive flops. They were in an awful state after AVB had wasted their resources. The atmosphere around the club was rotten. No resources left, but the club needed a total overhaul. It was a very tough job for anyone.

People see the players already there and think he arrived with them at that level. Eriksen was promising, but Lloris, Vertonghen, Walker, Rose were all part of the side shipping 51 goals the previous season (11th best defensive record). They conceded 27 goals in 8 matches to the top four alone that season, scoring just 2 goals vs. them. They also only scored 55 goals overall. 7th highest behind Everton (61) & us in 5th (64). That's our 13/14 season under Moyes, enough said.

We have a lot of similarities to Spurs when Poch first joined them.

A broken, soft team, with overpaid pampered 'stars'. The upside was, Poch inherited a young team, but he still had a lot of hard work to do to guide them to their full potential over the years. Without quality coaching and guidance, there's not a chance they would have developed the way they did.

Kane acknowledged this point himself that he would never have developed the way he had, if he was still around the dysfunctional set-up before Pochettino.

Don't rate Pochettino. Wouldn't rage as much as with Rodgers of course but I think he would be much worse than other available options.

Rickie Lambert on Pochettinos training methods.

'He broke me'

I just couldn’t cope,” he told Radio Solent of his training methods. “We would come in on Monday after 90 minutes on the Saturday and do 12 horseshoe runs.

“I had the bottle to go into his room, pull him to one side very respectfully and I said, ‘Mauricio, listen, we understand what you’re trying to do, but you’re pushing us too much on a Monday, you just need to calm it down, we’re not used to it’.

“Mauricio was dead polite, said ‘yes, that’s fine, I understand’, we shook hands and went back to the lads, made up, thinking, just sorted it for you boys.

“Next Monday, we came in and not only did we do 12, we did 24 runs. I was running around laughing, almost crying. I knew what he was doing, he was trying to break me and he did, he broke me.”

Looks like it. I am happy, but also a bit afraid to miss out on Erik ten Hag.
I’m the same I think.

I really like Pochettino. He was my first choice in 2018 to take over from Mourinho.

But Ten Hag just seems like one of those that come around once every few years that you can’t miss out on. Feel like if we don’t get him, we’ll look back in a few years and say we really should have waited for him. Like with Klopp now.

For me its now just a question of NOT Brentan. If Pochettino saves me from having to watch United with Brentan as coach, I'm for it.

With a few exceptions the team does have similar tools as his great Spurs team.

Cavani - Kane, Rashford - Son, Eriksen - Bruno, Ali....... -Sancho?

I agree. Biggest fear was Brendan or Gareth taking over. Absolute noghtmare. Would still take Ten Hag, but cant trust Ed. As soon as Rodgers gets fired, he would go after him. So get Poch now, as this club cant be trusted to make a great decision and stick to a plan.

100%

No but I want proper change at the club and that only happens with someone like Ten Hag imo.

I think there is a chance he could become manager one day IF those yanks finally decide to sell up. New owners would happily give him the CEO and DOF he rightfully wants put in place.

Wouldn't you liken Alli and Bruno? Eriksen was a playmaker and comfortable dictating things.

Anyone know what sort of manager Poch is? ;)

@Amadaeus if he joins before January, where can we expect to finish in the league?
He is a project manager. He is not a manager that comes in and you expect a quick fix. He is a manager that is a more hands-on-manager with the training. As you see in the video with psg At around 1:30. He will want his players playing the way he wants them to play.

His first season is typically a poor one. So if he comes mid table, we may just get fourth, but ole has us in such a bad position and competition is tough, it will depend on whether he is lucky with injuries and with key decisions in the game. The next season, we will see much better and we will compete for the league. The 2nd full season, is when he will win the league.

DDG - Lloris
AWB NO, Varane / Maguire - Vertonghen/Alderweireld, Shaw - Rose
Double Pivot - NO
VDB/Sancho - Ali
Bruno - Eriksen, Cavani/Greenwood/Ronaldo(who wont press) - Kane, Rashford - Son

I think we very much have the type of squad to fit his playing style.

Kind of missing the point. This is 1st time he’s been in a seat where he should be winning things, let’s see how he does this season but he’s won 1 minor cup, is walking Ligue 1 and will be intriguing to watch them in the CL.
So wrong. Check out his career at Spurs. He bottled it several times.
only to go on and bottle it at PSG. Big time

Under Solskjaer we had this trend of having really big highs and very big lows. We could go and win 5 games in a row but then the following month we lose and draw 5 in a row. What Pochettino could provide is more stability to our results but I'm still a bit skeptical about him being the right man for the job.

How exactly did he "bottle it" at Spurs? He just coaches the players and who he thinks will win. It's the players that generally "bottle it", a manager can only do so much.

I'm not sure we've ever won five games in a row under him aside from his caretaker stint. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

I'm not being rude but is that not being pragmatic no?
That's having a core philosophy. Pep's team will always try (and almost always) dominate possession. Klopp's gen gen pressing.

Those two can be pragmatic like how they add more midfielder in place of an attacker, to ensure their philosophy still work to contain opposition, in exchange of less attacking potent. In Pep case he can go to the extreme of having no natural no 9.

Poch toward the end of his Spurs time couldn't stay true to possession based, and high pressing philosophy. So he's more pragmatic than Pep and Klopp in term of philosophy, by being ready to abandon his preferred football.

Being pragmatic is not a bad thing though. Tuchel is more pragmatic in comparison to Pep and Klopp for example. However, people should be more careful about their expectation, since our team is unbalanced, and our position on the table is not ideal, and mid season meaning that there is no time like pre season to drill every aspect of his philosophy into our team; if Poch's to come here, he may turn up with pragmatic measure, which is not pretty. Also Poch having a lower bottom level, so don't expect Poch having as good honey moon period as Tuchel for Chelsea.

I hope Pochettino can lure Verrati from psg to Manchester United. He is the one player beside Hakimi, that I want pochettino to bring. Nuno mendes as well.
Dream United team.

De Gea
Hakimi - Maguire - Varane - Shaw
Verrati/Fred
*DvdB/Mctominay - Bruno/Pogba
Greenwood - Ronaldo/Rashford - Sancho

*might be Pogba and Bruno ahead of Verratti.

Fred might be used similiar to the way he use gana. We have no Verrati or parades in our team, so that will be a huge issue that Pochettino will want to address next summer. Also, how to phase out Ronaldo. And to get a more attacking right full back. I feel that Rashford will be a Pochettino project and Pochettino will transform him into a player like Kane.

Why are you spouting such nonsense firstly Ten Hag didn't even make any such demand it was some random analyst on tv show who suggested he should do that but gullibility of our fan base knows no bound unfortunately, getting enraged at things that aren't even true and I don't think he would ever be so stupid to actually to put such conditions.

Jesus if he could lure Veratti it’s worth bringing him in for that alone.

Obvious that is what he will say. Like rio Ferdinand stated, it will be hard to lure him mid season. If anything, he will come only at the end of season or after he gets knocked out of the champions league
That's not the issue by all accounts.

pretty evasive answer, loving it. Would be easy to say "I'll stay here for sure" or "I have no interest". It's on like Donkey Kong.
