Interim manager discussion: Who replaces the interim interim manger (Carrick)?

Mitten says that Rudi Garcia would be interested in the interim role.

Good to hear Crook saying we would be interested in Rangnick as interim if we can't get Pochettino now

Well if those two are able to work together then that's a definite positive in my eyes
I doubt Murtough cares and the main aim for him will be for United to succeed. And him being a huge admirer of Rangnick according to the Athletic is indication of that. The Athletic also report that Murtough is involved in the next hire process interim/permanent.

Have you got any link to the article about Murtough being an admirer of him or is it within that thing you posted

I've just finished listening to the Talk Of The Devils podcast where he said that.

From the way Mitten phrased it, it wasn't so much that he knew Garcia would be interested in the United job. It was more like he thought Garcia's past experience should make him an interesting option for the board.

But that was just my understanding of it. YMMV.

The Express are running the story citing The Athletic as the source (link below). It was also reported by someone last year that someone from United had a meeting with Ralf Rangnick. According to the guys at he 'transfer ground guru', those people were Murtough and Woodward.

So now we have an interim coach waiting for a slightly longer term interim coach to be found.

Class act

Lucien Favre would be interesting. Id love us to get hold of Dortmunds playbook. They always seem to get the absolute best out of all their players.

On the same page there. Really not sure what to think of Poch at this point, but I'd definitely prefer ten Hag to him.
Agreed.

And going back to Fonseca, I think he'd be a potential exciting interim who would look to implement a progressive play style with emphasis on possession play, which has the potential to lay down ground work for a head coach like ten Hag. And the below quotes which are attributed to him are music to my ears.

Fonseca: "We have an obligation with supporters to create a spectacle, a good show. That is the obligation of the coach,' Fonseca, 48, told the Telegraph last month"

"I want to win every game but just winning is not enough for me. I have to be offensive and dominate the games and have an offensive midfield and show courage in the game. These are things which will die with me"

I still think the Glazers will be pushing for Carrick to get the interim gig to keep wages down.

He would fail is he wants us to play a possession based game. Simply don’t have the midfield that would allow this

I’d bet my bottom dollar that the the interim manager is going to be Carrick. Then if he does ok we’ll have another Ole on our hands.

Roberto Martinez as interim? Not the greatest manager by any means, but very savvy and will get us playing some good stuff too. Haven’t seen his name pop up but wouldn’t be the worst idea.

What's AVB up to? He might be up for something non-committal if he's still waiting for that national team job.

Even with his flaws he should be good enough as an interim manager.

If this happened I would hope he stays with Belgium, I like watching them play.
I can't see him leaving that role yet because getting a chance with a national team who actually have a chance of winning something is very rare and that Belgium side is full of potential,

I like AVB, was impressed with his idea for a younger Chelsea team, let down by the older players not wanting change, I thought he did a good job at Spurs too, selling a star player and then replacing him with 4 or 5 is not easy, we've seen Liverpool struggle with the same thing, I'd be happy with him coming in.

The Athletic are saying: "Steve Bruce is very keen on the short-term managerial role at Manchester United" this appointment would be just to make an old man happy by letting him manage a club who he has an affiliation with.

Surely he doesn't really think he's in with a chance? Ole pretty much organised Cardiff's relegation from the Premier League so maybe Steve thinks we go for manager who are mentally strong and holding up the 17 other teams in the league shows tremendous strength,

I would rather have Sam Allardyce come in as the way he chews his gum is Fergie esq and I love a bit of nostalgia.

Can Woodward and Judge please feck off.

They both shouldn’t be in any position deciding the future of this club considering how far they’ve fecked the club over with their diabolical decisions.

Not sure I quite understand this one but the idea of getting enrique, deschamps or flick temporarily is fanciful. Enrique literally laughed at the idea of joining united when asked earlier
Sorry it was my attempt at humour... ironic at that.
Given the state of the club just now would any top manager want to touch us with a barge pole, only likely to attract 'chancers'.

Jamie Jackson article is laughable. Valverde has managed Leo Messi so he would know how to manage Cristiano? Ha! Pile of bollocks.

Surely this says it isn't going to be Pochettino then? The reality is that Pochettino is gonna be in contract now and at the end of the season so we'll still have to pay compensation no matter when we get him, so if we are truly interested then we should get him now, why waste a potential season on an interim.... Unless we want Ten Hag

Maybe because PSG would be more willing to let him go at the end of the season rather than the middle?

PSG might not be able to confirm Zidane?

It says in the article we're prepared to abandon all interim plans if we can get Poch.

The article says that Valverde is one of the options on the table if we can't get Poch. Wouldn't mind Valverde although my preference would be the PSG manager.

Maybe Pochettino wants to stay until the end of the season like Ten Hag?

Perhaps he doesn't fancy taking over this team midseason. Or, maybe, PSG won't let him leave until the end of the season.

Either way, we are going to have to buyout their contracts at their current clubs.
