People going at Poch for not dominating the ball against a Pep team away from home? Do you guys like ever watch any football or just like saying big words like high press and possession?

He can’t press, because Messi, Mbappe and Neymar won’t. Not dominating the ball? Which manager does away from home against a Pep side?

You can see a mile off that Poch is a bad fit at PSG.

Yeah it's beyond obvious. Mind you Ronaldo

It is quite likely Poch won't be able to beat Pep/Klopp. Which other manager is there other than to take a chance on an up and comer like Ten Hag, may be Enrique.
So someone who's proven they can beat Klopp and Pep probably won't be able to beat Klopp or Pep, so take a huge gamble on a bloke who's never proven he could go toe to toe with either and beat them, let alone most PL teams. Got it

 Football fans can be reactive morons. Pity some United fans weren't this knee-jerk over our previous manager who was genuinely clueless. Until it was too late.
It's not reactive, even in the reverse tie which PSG won they got dominated and won with individual moments and the fact that city missed too many chances. City don't even have de bruyne, foden or grealish in this match...

They're choosing to gloss over the fact his job was on the ropes before they played Madrid away. Luckily the United board have Ten Hag lower down in the pecking order than the folks on here

The United board are known for their excellent managerial choices.

Wh
Yeah in the pre Klopp/Pep era. He would be eaten up by those guys today.

Maybe with the squad at the time, but the point is that approach with the right recruitment will allow us to go head to head with these clubs. For a club whose roots are to attack we lately seem so happy to quickly concede dominance to any team that can actually play football.

Our approach to dealing with teams that pass and move well shouldn't be to concede and let them do whatever hoping we can hit them on the counter. We should be looking for coaches who can implement a similar style of dominance. I just don't see any excuses anymore, we spend as much money as anyone yet teams like Brighton seem more interested in actually playing football than we do.

I want someone capable of going up against Pep instead of shying away from it.

I could've sworn that Neymar was a harder worker off the ball than this. As things are currently, PSG essentially play with 7 men when they're out of possession.

It's clear that everything Pochettino is good at; implementing a high organised press with narrow lanes to pass through, is not possible to have at PSG while Messi, Mbappe and Neymar are there. They simply aren't putting in the effort. They should still be looking a bit better offensively then they have though.

Pochettino is my number one choice for United manager. He had Spurs playing at such a high level with a squad that was performing far above it's capabilities on paper. But it does concern me a bit that he can't get a turn out of his front three.

In all seriousness I just don’t see what difference he brings to United

Who would that be?
Ten Hag might not be able to beat it but I know if he was manager we’d attempt to actually keep the ball. I absolutely hate handing opponents the advantage and knowing ahead of kick off how the game will play out.

That’s just reinforced what I’ve been saying about Poch since he’s been linked with us. Not for me. Not good enough.

We were so bad under Ole and yet most of the players still respected him, including Ronaldo. They were willing to work for him, just looking confused. PSG forward lines are dickheads and will refuse to respect any manager I reckon. When Tuchel and Poch struggled with the players then its the players. Tuchel left them and won the CL. Dont let PSG cloud your judgement when it comes into managers, learn from Tuchel or regret it.

Yeah, it's effectively a broken but incredibly talented team and the best way to manage is to play on the counter a fair bit, like the 2015 Barca CL winning team with Neymar-Suarez-Messi (2/3rds of the same frontline obviously, but 6 years older and less into tracking back or pressing) that I knew (and bet on) would win the final once Juve followed up their equalizer by continuing to try to dominate and push high up and leave themselves open to a counter from that trio.

We should hire Pochettino IF we think he's the man to turn a team with a Greenwood-Rashford-Sancho-Bruno front 4 (maybe Diallo instead of Rashford) and a Varane led backline into a quality team, since that's really all we can be reasonably sure of after next year.

Signing Rice would make a ton of sense if we get Poch, as he would fit what Poch did at Spurs and Southampton well, since Rice can be the DM when he plays 4 at the back and the 3rd CB when he goes to 3 at the back (which he learned from Bielsa). Other things that would seem likely to be replicated are Bruno playing where Eriksen did as a 10 who also gets a lot of time on the right of a midfield 3 with license to get forward. VDB could play the #10 role Deli Alli did when Bruno is more right-sided, with Sancho out left and one of Greenwood or Rashford up top.

So yeah, I wouldn't worry about the PSG stuff too much, if he's hired it should be because we think he's the man to lead our talented forward line and new midfield (maybe one more season of Fred as the 8 playing with a new 6 and Bruno/VDB) over the next few years.

TLDR: We should hire without looking at Poch's PSG time or Cristiano's existence. If the next manager is a success he'll be here for at least 5 years.

When Pogba was linked with Chelsea, Mourinho said that everyone is interested in Pogba but that you can't have everything you want, he then compared him with the Eiffel Tower. I bet people have a theory about how he didn't really want him at Chelsea and just said these things for show.

He really wanted Shaw at Chelsea too and look how that turned out when he got here. I guess it’s easier to talk about stand out players when you haven’t had to try and coach and cajole them.

With that midfield? Man City have dominated Liverpool and Chelsea this season, who have much better midfielders than PSG.

PSG's midfield is very average, so this is the way this game was always going to go, particularly when you have to play a few players who don't help when defending.

Messi and Neymar do nothing to help the defensive side.

Not for me. With the amount of quality in that side they played premium quality rubbish football. Thats the difference between a mediocre manager and great ones. Pep or Klopp for example would have that PSG side playing brilliantly.

Still Ten Hag for me.

Just looks like a run of the mill PL manager..
No he looks like Russel crowe and he’s commander of the army in Paris, manager of a murdered team, leader of murdered attack and he will join United, in this life or the next

How PSG play has little to do with Poch., We all know he's a high press coach and his front three don't press. So very little of what happen reflects on him either way

For me if we continued down that path with better recruiting and maybe a similar manager appointed afterwards we’d have been a lot more successful. We certainly looked like a big club in the big games.

Fortunately when he comes to United he will have a fantastic midfield to work with and a set of hard working forwards.

His record against Pep is abysmal. Man oh man I'm really not sure about him. We should try hard to get Ten Hag and Rangnick as an interim

Neymar is usually the hardest working player of the 3 (far more than Messi or Mbappé) but clearly wasn't in a good night.

Through Ed Woodward tinted glasses he does, the fantastic judge of manager he is as we all know.
