Believe that was in relation to the Mazepin incident, Hamilton should have got a blue flag telling him there was a car on a hot lap behind but didn't so wouldn't have known Mazepin was on a hot lap. Guessing the team might get a fine for not warning him but as it's practice not quali, shouldn't be a penalty. There were definitely yellows earlier on, believe it was Verstappen driving slowly that caused them for extra absurdity.

The flag was visible for 1 second. I think that must have played a part in the decision.

Why couldn't they see that before he was called. It should only take a minute for them to see it was a mistake and disregard it. Impleading during a practice session is normally a fine as well so that could have been dealt with after practice.

This is the sort of circuit, with a wall of champions waiting at every other corner, so an off lap or a lapse and its all over

I hope not. But if we get away with it this year it needs serious changes if they ever race there again.

Although I suppose the Saudi government do love to breach human rights so... maybe they paid a big fee to get the track approved for sportswashing purposes.
