He was outright quick even without the tow. He'll be rapid in his first stint on the softs tomorrow, Mercedes will need to make sure they have significantly better pace on Mediums and Hards.
Fantastic lap. Big advantage to RB now. Max just needs to smash it on the first few laps on the softs and try to build a big lead.

I think it's all about the race and strategy.
Hamilton can play the long game tomorrow, Perez in 4th helps him too. Bottas useless as usual.
I’m not sold on this theory that this is good for Merc. Red Bull have been faster this weekend than a lot of people expected. It’s advantage Max now, for sure.
He got pulled along both straights by Perez, really clever by Red Bull, Merc have never had the same nous when it comes to using both drivers.

I think you have to be worried about that pace if you’re Merc. Even without the tow Max would have had that quite comfortably.

One lap pace is very different to race pace with 100kg of fuel on board.

The Red Bull has been a great car over one lap, the Merc generally has been great in race trim.

It was neck and neck on the mediums before Max flatspotted, with RBs comfortably quicker on softs.
If it's going to come down to strategy, Red Bull must have the edge too, given Merc's propensity to feck things up.

Not a disaster for Hamilton imo. Strategy is going to be very important tomorrow. If Hamilton was on pole he would've struggled to keep Verstappen off him on that first corner anyway.
