Incorrectly predicted the de Jong transfer 2022
What a shit way to end the season. FIA have fecked this up so badly
Get them both out on the track again. Five lap shoot out. After five pints each. The FIA not doing this is a farce. Worse than the FAI.
Soooooo, why didn't Hamilton pit like Max?
They didn't apply their own rules when allowing 5 cars to unlap themselves so they could have a last lap race.
Thanks for that …Christmas turkey will from now on never taste the same.no matter what is decided, it’s not going to fix what happened today. it’s like this old family saying we have, “you can’t unfeck the turkey, rimaldo, christmas is ruined.”
Eh? I mean whatever is decided in this protest is going to CAS. Regardless of the outcome.Well not really because if it goes to CAS i don't think there's a chance to appeal the decision as that is the final decision
If he did, max stays out and wins.Soooooo, why didn't Hamilton pit like Max?
They didn't want to be behind Max? (for some unknown reasonDon't get that either Merc seem very cautious compared to RB. All they do is react
No they simply didn't want to risk the fact that the race MIGHT finish under the SC. It wasn't a decision about the rules but probabilities at the time and since Hamilton had already passed the pit entry.Because if the rules had been followed, they anticipated that the race would have finished behind a safety car.
It's beyond luck they literally disregarded the rules so they could have a shoot-out last lap for a bit of spectacle. That isnt sport. That happens all the time in formula 1. It’s terrible luck but Verstappen had his fair share of that too this season.
Still wearing that T ShirtHorner looks confident
Theres still the issue of SC not coming in the next round, but the same oneWell that's the argument the FIA would no doubt use.
Because the order was very specific about which cars unlap.
It throws up all sorts of questions though about the future rules. Who decides what cars unlap? On what basis?
I think he meant if FiA award it... (not CAS)Eh? I mean whatever is decided in this protest is going to CAS. Regardless of the outcome.
Pretty sure there's more netflix fans here these days than racing fans

There was plenty of racing all of the laps before. You’d rather have no racing?

You’d rather have no racing?
Did you miss the previous 55 laps? You’d rather have no racing?
Not necessarily. Would have actually ended up a shoot out both on softs for one lap. Merc had no way to know that though. They played the probabilitiesIf he did, max stays out and wins.
That’s your opinion. That isn’t a fact.
If a team was leading 1-0 in the last 5 minutes and someone had to go off injured, would you be happy with the referee deciding it would be decided with a penalty shoot out?
The rules as they were rather than the probabilities. Not necessarily. Would have actually ended up a shoot out both on softs for one lap. Merc had no way to know that though. They played the probabilities
He was much faster though, would've easily overtaken him. They didn't want to be behind Max? (for some unknown reason)
Did you miss the previous 55 laps?
Because they gambled on safety car going till the end.Soooooo, why didn't Hamilton pit like Max?
Its not a good analogy. Because if you read the rules they didnt actually change them. The rule has an if in the wordingIf a team was leading 1-0 in the last 5 minutes and someone had to go off injured, would you be happy with the referee deciding it would be decided with a penalty shoot out?
For Red BullRangnick would have taken control of this situation.
Is there an ELI5 post in here breaking all this down?
Max wouldn't have pitted if they did and because all the cars needed to get past Lewis the race would have finished behind the safety car Max would have won the race behind the safety car.Soooooo, why didn't Hamilton pit like Max?
He had over a 10 second lead with Red Bull admitting it was over. The race was done. Hamilton deserved to win. There was outrage when the race finished behind the safety car and now people want to:
They were leading. There was no way they could make the right decision. Any decision they made Verstappen could gain an advantage by doing the opposite.Because they gambled on safety car going till the end.
Basically Merc had much faster car today but made wrong decision on every possible step (covering Max when Hamilton could go much further, not pitting on VSC and not oitting on SC). Toto should probably strees his anger on his team instead of damaging sports reputation.
Pretty much. Although the last call in reality was probably the right one weighing up all the probabilities.Because they gambled on safety car going till the end.

and the team principles need to behave and stop trying to pressure the Race Director.Nothing will happen with the protests, it's just more theater, the championship has been handed out and that's pretty much the end of it.
The only thing they can do is to get rid of Masi, who's been an inconsistent mess all year, and bring in a race director who can handle the pressure and stick to the rules.
In football terms, Hamilton was 3-0 up with 5 mins to go, at which point the ref decides that its next goal wins, but Hamilton has to play with no keeper or defenders, and Verstappen is given the ball because he is 3-0 down
