CharmingYou clearly no F*** all about driving then.

I did yes, and I agree with all of your previous post about it being for short term gains.I read that as he's saying those people think Max was the better driver, not necessarily himself.
In fairness blame the teams for that as they have asked for races to be finished under green flag conditions whenever possible.
Damon Hill who is massively bias towards Lewis even confirmed that the teams have been asking for races to not finish under a saftey car.
Not a 'bad decision' as such though is it, it's a genuine breach of the rules. As I said in a post earlier, it's not about who we want to win or believe deserved to win, or even sporting integrity, to an extent. This goes much deeper. What about suppliers, who might have win incentives/bonuses? Commercial partners, who might pay more/less to sponsor the F1 champion(s)? Employees in-line to receive win bonuses? Mercedes might claim loss of earnings for next year, through not being able to market Lewis as the champion etc...
Then maybe you should slow down and actually read the postsDon’t know if you’ve noticed but we now have posters who have never made a post coming on here telling us all types of sh!te after watching one F1 race. No time for them.
You seem to be having an arguement with yourself here.Well something is congratulating and something else is saying "u deserve it".
And most of the people in this thread don't share this opinion with the team principal of Mercedes, which is really sad, for them.
Any bad decision in officiating any sport is a bad decision because it goes against the rules, or is a contentious interpretation of the rules. That's the only basis for it being a bad decision. So in essence it's no different to a football team winning a league title because of an offside goal in the final game.
All the teams in the Prem accept that the buck ultimately stops with the FA when it comes to refereeing decisions, and I'd bet they have to sign legal agreements to not take gripes with refereeing decisions to outside bodies. And the FIA probably make F1 teams do the same.
So true. And I’ve got no explanation of why people are even trying to engage in debate with them. Especially people who come out with “there’s been good and bad decisions all season, some for and against Lewis and Max”. Shows a fundamental lack of understanding of a basic difference between an opinion on a judgement call vs an action which is outside the laws of the sport and unsporting in nature (in particular for someone like Sainz).Don’t know if you’ve noticed but we now have posters who have never made a post coming on here telling us all types of sh!te after watching one F1 race. Leave him man. If anything, let’s all learn that Masi needs removing, and that certain posters are not worthy of your time. You seem to be having an arguement with yourself here.
I haven't seen anybody saying Max isn't a worthy winner over the season. Whoever won out of Hamilton and Verstappen both deserved it.
The fact is though Hamilton was cruising to victory and Red Bull had given up. The safety car happened and then the FIA massively ballsed it up.
If you can't understand why people are annoyed at the FIA, there's not much help for you. I think most sensible people realise that if the rules were followed then Hamilton is a x8 champion.
What? I don't think you'll find anyone in this thread who seriously doesn't think Verstappen deserved to win it. Most people think both Verstappen and Hamilton were worthy champions including pundits and fellow drivers. It's the manner in which he won that has everybody angry. He deserved a better conclusion.Well something is congratulating and something else is saying "u deserve it".
And most of the people in this thread don't share this opinion with the team principal of Mercedes, which is really sad, for them.
Agreed. there's 2/3 wind ups in here that are just trying to cause trouble.Leave him man. If anything, let’s all learn that Masi needs removing, and that certain posters are not worthy of your time.
This might be the worst thread on the caf. So many WUMs. Here's hoping the 2022 thread will be better.I don't know whats worse. This thread or the 'Covid Outbreak at Man Utd' thread.
Awful.

I'm now starting to wonder if the whole 'exciting' season was fixed by Masi for the contenders to have roughly equal points on the last race, to draw in record numbers of viewers. Handing out penalties at key moments, letting things go at other key moments....
Ugh, can of worms.
Surely the decision going to court of some description would look that horrific for the sport it won't happen.
If they overturned it now it would probably be more farcical than what actually happened.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/formula1/59643988The handling of the sport's rules during the safety-car period that ultimately decided the drivers' title in Max Verstappen's favour has focused a deeper discontent that already lurked beneath the surface of the sport.
F1 teams and drivers were dismayed by the events at the end of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after a season in which many have complained about the consistency of the FIA's decision making.
Many felt the rules were not followed correctly at Yas Marina, and now a number of F1 insiders believe that changes need to be made at the FIA.
The subject is controversial, so senior figures have not been prepared to speak on the record in the immediate aftermath of the race.
But a number have told BBC Sport that at least half the F1 teams have lost confidence in race director Michael Masi, and that many of the drivers have concerns as well.
Exactly, gave Max a shot at going past Hamilton but gave sainz feck all chance of going past max. Sainzs team should be lodging complaints for that alone.
No, the new tyres probably gave him a couple of seconds a lap.Bickering aside. Could Lewis have done better in that final lap? Verstappen Overtook him like he was Mazepin. Sure he had older tires, but still..
And we’ve also seen from a restart while the two at the front are battling a third (ocon) has sneaked past. Max didn’t even have to care about defending anywhere it was pure focus on what’s in front. It was pathetic.Max and Lewis have pulled away from everyone in restarts this year. Sainz should've been behind Max, but do you really think he would've been in the mix? Max was on fresh softs. No way in hell Sainz would've split them. Unfortunately we'll never know for sure.

Red Bull had the better car up until Brazil then Mercedes changed something that gave them an advantage.According to some in here the Red Bull had the faster car on all but a few tracks.
The pace that the Merc had with medium or hard tyres on was unmatchable from Silverstone onwards, especially with higher fuel loads.
This might be the worst thread on the caf. So many WUMs. Here's hoping the 2022 thread will be better.![]()
It really was a triple whammy: new tyres, two grades softer and back markers as rear gunners. Pathetic is the right word. And we’ve also seen from a restart while the two at the front are battling a third (ocon) has sneaked past. Max didn’t even have to care about defending anywhere it was pure focus on what’s in front. It was pathetic.
Fair. Still he had no chance of staying in front of Max. Masi just handed the title to Max because, 'it's called racing'.More than that I think... Fresh softs vs fresh hards - average delta is about 2-3 seconds
Fresh softs vs old hards? Delta's got to be at least 7-8 secs
Its not all been bad, there has been some good in it.This might be the worst thread on the caf. So many WUMs. Here's hoping the 2022 thread will be better.![]()
It's actually got better since Santi was banned.Nah F1 threads since the early days have always been like this. Just the last 6 years (outside of the mini Seb in a Ferrari vs Lewis battle) has been so one sided nothing much went on in these threads. 2022 will be the just as bad this 2021 thread.
Fair. Still he had no chance of staying in front of Max. Masi just handed the title to Max because, 'it's called racing'.
He's messed up all season. The sport is definitely poorer for the passing of Charlie Whiting. We lost a great man who understood both the spirit and letter of the laws of the sport and ended up with Masi.Completely agree mate. Which is why, even if Masi fudged it for TV, it was just shit TV. Can't believe he couldn't see that.
Red Bull had the better car up until Brazil then Mercedes changed something that gave them an advantage.
Mercedes won the constructors by 28 points even if Red bull had been awarded 24 for equal first for both Max and Checo they still wouldn't have won the constructors.Another really dodgy thing. Again opening a can of worms here... Why was Perez suddenly retired for no reason when he was ahead of Bottas in the last few laps under safety car?
Red Bull willingly gave up the Constructor's to Mercedes by doing that.
Mercedes won the constructors by 28 points even if Red bull had been awarded 24 for equal first for both Max and Checo they still wouldn't have won the constructors.
No, Red Bull had a significantly better car at Bahrain, Monaco, Baku, Austria and Mexico.
Everywhere else was either even or a Merc advantage. And then a significant Merc pace advantage in the last 4 races. That car became a monster on medium and hard tyres at high fuel loads.

But the difference would not have been enough to make up 28 points. If Checo got 15 points for second and Valtteri had got 6 instead of 8 that would of been a turn around of 17 points not 28.But Checo was ahead of Bottas no? So Botta's would have got less if Checo stayed in third?
