Joe Rogan

“Rogan's said young, healthy people shouldn't get the vaccine, he's promoted the use of ivermectin to treat Covid, he's railed against wearing masks, he's hosted several guests who has spouted outright lies about the pandemic without pushing back or asking them to provide proof or sources.”

My question to you is: what is the best way how to handle this whole situation and prevent Rogan from spreading misinformation?
When I woke up this morning, I realized that the TV was still on. It was kind of nice actually, just waking up to a funny video by a youtuber I like. I stayed in bed for a while watching it, and I'm pretty sure laughing at it helped me wake up properly, so maybe I should do that more often? Don't know how the girlfriend feels about it though, but I'm guessing she's not going to be a fan. The youtuber in question has a pretty childish and crass sense of humour, and while she's not stuck up or anything, I think it might all be a bit too silly for her. And then there's the whole thing of just leaving the TV on overnight. I know I'm able to sleep through that, but she might not be. The TV might have an on-timer or something, which would solve that problem, but I don't think you can set it to both turn on and play a particular youtube video or a show on Netflix. I guess I could take the old PC I have gathering dust and use it as a media PC and just have whatever I'd think I'd like waking up to running on that? But I'm getting ahead of myself here, since I don't even know how she'd feel about waking up to the TV yet. And let's be honest, I'm probably not going to go through with it anyway. It'd be nice and all, but might as well just turn on the TV and pick something to watch when I wake up, right? Anyway, my point is that I'm not interested in engaging with you.

The best episodes were always the ones with 'non-political' guests, notably past and present boxers and UFC fighters, and comedians.

Listening to him talk to Julianna Pena about her win vs. Amanda Nunes for example, is far more interesting than listening to him discuss 'cancel culture', climate change, Democrats vs. Republicans, politics in general, cultural issues etc. with other guests.

I don't see whats so dangerous about him or why people are clutching their pearls over a pretty dumb guy and his longform podcast for assorted nutters

Well, I think (I'm a big mouthed guy who don't have a solution for anything and it seems there are a ton of people like me that Mihajlovic has supposedly met) the issue here is rightly or wrongly, Joe Rogan has a big platform in Spotify where he's paid 100 Million dollars for his longform podcasts and he regularly has famous personalities who again give credence to what he says and it seems his views are taken seriously by a lot of his fans. You may be blissfully unaware of the problem and good on you for that.

Dude I’m just trying to understand if you are only bitching about Joe Rogan or if you actually have ideas and suggestions of how to alleviate or eliminate the problem. I work in a high pressure fast paced business environment and I’ve met tons of people like you who have a big mouth but when asked for solutions they have none. I have a practical solution how to deal with this problem and I shared it with you.

Great. I will give you a honest answer. I think you are trolling in the thread about how you hate Joe Rogan and want to see solutions on how to contain his lies and there's no point in engaging you in good faith. You may be right about me though, so it's not all doom and gloom for you. Wish you all the best on your work front.

Sealions are the worst.

You posted a few valid questions the other day (apologies for not responding earlier). If I remember correctly you asked 'where shall we draw the line', and that is truly a very difficult question to answer. We've been debating this forever, most famously in regard to the issue of Holocaust denial. My feeling is that more conversation about these kind of topics are better than less conversation.

Not only should Joe Rogan be cancelled but I'd also suggest Lex Friedman needs to go as he is one of Rogan's best friends and has a podcast that's reaching millions of people.

I think we also need to take care of Tim Dillon. He needs to go as he's also good friend with Rogan and his podcast is dangerous as his jokes about Covid-19 could be misleading to many.

I'll try to think of other podcasters that also need cancelling and share with you guys asap.

That Nadal win really hit you hard, huh.

Video clip of Rogan dropping n-bombs currently bouncing its way around Twitter.

Seems like such a cnut.

Those early podcasts didn’t age well huh. At least I can tell I’ve grown mentally since I listened to them at 18 due to how messed up those clips sound now.

There’s more on the thread, some antisemitism tossed into the mix as well.

What the clip where hes saying he wouldn't do it and its ridiculous to make a dog do a nazi salute.

You will hear what you want to hear but that clip is nowhere near what you are trying to portray.

The way people use this term "misinformation" lately is far more dangerous than anything Joe Rogan has done.

How many years ago is that from?
Does it matter? He would have been in his late 30s / early 40s!
Joe has had some recent podcasts with Joey Diaz where they laugh together about Joey committing sexual assault etc that’s bound to bite him on the ass

the best solution for me is what is already happening, he’s getting loads of criticism and been made to reevaluate his actions

if he keeps up the antivax crap I’m sure Spotify will either reign him in or bin him - it’s terrible PR for them

let’s say he continues and Spotify do nothing, the protests and boycotts will ramp up and Spotify will have an easy decision

Of course. If he wants to talk about GSP’s career with GSP, that might be worth checking out

Jesus Christ

Reading comments here lately one would think that Joe Rogan spreads COVID misinformation 99% of the time and talk about other stuff 1% of the time. :D But this which hunt has succeed. Who actually is gonna get screwed at the end is Spotify. Joe made Spotify bigger, not the other way around.

What are your views on the Planet of the Apes references he made in post 1774 half way up the page ?

It is stupid. It can certainly be viewed as racist. I am more curious what black people have to say about it as their view is more important than mine on those two clips. I am not here to defend that Joe Rogan is a saint, he isn't. I am here to bring some balance as Joe's haters are outnumbering us, Joe Rogan fans, by a bunch!

You don't need a black person to tell you that calling Africa "Planet of the Apes" is racist.

How else can it be viewed?
