They deserve it. They’re children’s books. I always found it weird as feck that grown adults seemed to get emotionally invested in them. They’re perfectly fine for kids. My daughter loves them. But she’s 11.

No they are not. They start like so, but they become increasingly grim as Harry Potter himself ages. We see murder, anguish, depression, bullying, emotional and physical torture... none of these are children book concepts.
Unless you deem the entire fantasy genre to be for kids just because it's all surreal.
That’s almost certainly her internal justification. Although there’s obviously more to it than that. She will also be hurt by her art being criticised/attacked. And she must be naturally quite contrary to dig in this deep.
I’ve read them. They’re kids books. Kids books can have dark themes. Children can handle that stuff at a fairly young age. And yes, most of the fantasy genre is also aimed at kids. Not all of it though, obviously.

That makes no sense, it's unlikely she made a penny from a studio tour, but if she did she got paid when the tickets were bought. Throwing it in the bin is pointless.

I checked in on this story a few years ago and the summary of it was gowls online overreacting to a woman having a fairly reasonable opinion.
Is it still the same now, but the gowls have drove her a bit mental?

Basically, yes. Although she’s partly to blame for not walking away. As Nietsche almost said, if you hang with the gowls too long then you will also become a gowl.

It's a pretty commonly held view of both men and women that there's a debate over whether a transgender women is a women. Whether it's a reasonable opinion depends on your own personal outlook I guess!

Back on twitter via a sock puppet account apparently, still obsessed with this one issue. Having previously had multiple other sock puppet accounts, also for this one issue.
Imagine being so compelled to argue with people on twitter that you have to keep joining it over and over again. It's like a punishment the Greek gods would have inflicted on someone.

Seems fairly arrogant to simply dismiss anything you don't like by labelling as above without consideration. If don't think it's fairly normal for men and women to ask themselves 'are transgender women real women' then you must be pretty isolated from society. We're also only posing the question here...not stating any position.

Also loads of childrens books - and especially YA - have these themes or attempt to introduce ones like them to younger people through narrative. They don’t automatically become “adult books” by including them, unless you think Watership Down or Charlottes Web or Dahl or fecking Narnia aren’t for children?
I’m not saying HP isn’t very good and worthy children’s (or YA) fiction, but Millennials absolutely deserve to be laughed at for being well on our way to ‘Star Warsing’ Harry Potter as important high culture just because we grew up with it.
(Also it’s about a bunch of people who peak at school and then all stay friends forever.)

Buddy, they are children's books. They are aimed at children, they are read by children and most of your friends from the Harry Potter adult fan club probably began their obsession when they read them as children.
Youd be surprised at the amount of people that think like this.
I would say that they are early teenage fiction books. The writing is fine for that level of reading but good readers will excel it by the time they reach 15+.
What an unbelievable waste of time. Proper comic book guy from the Simpsons final thought stuff.
Lots of millennials were the same age as the characters in the books when they first came out, and they grew up along with the subsequent books. It's understandable that it had a big impact on them that they still feel today.
Not me, though. I think they're nuts.
I dunno man. There’s loads of books that I enjoyed as a kid that mean absolutely nothing to me as an adult. To each their own but it’s definitely a little odd to have people in their 30s and 40s still fully invested in the whole Harry Potter thing.

Not a big fan of cereal though. I mean it's fine if people want to eat it but don't get all in my face about it or teach it to my kids

I'm probably just a grumpy old fart but I don't see how I could ever find the time to be so invested in anything like that stuff to the level where I'm dressing up as the characters and visiting Wizarding World museums etc.
Same thing. I'll watch the movies, I'll play the games. But feck me if I ever think of buying a replica lightsaber or a framed autographed picture of Jar Jar Binks.

I reread the first Harry Potter book in German when I was learning the language. Was great for that to be fair, but I also find it a bit cringe when 30+ year olds go on about their love for Harry Potter.
What kicked it off is right there on the previous page:
She's peddling the idea that *they* are trying to erase women on the basis that companies, orgs, politicians and governments have started using more inclusive language to acknowledging that not all who need certain products or services are/identify as women.
There was a time where she was careful not to be blatant in her transphobia, but she has, from the beginning, expressed support and endorsed the views of some absolutely vile bigots. Her opinions were never reasonable if you bothered looking into her reasoning behind them, which was all based on lies and misrepresentations.
I dunno, I don't really see it.
Seems like she said some reasonable stuff, got hounded by a bunch of gowls on Twitter and now just trolls them. Bit childish but not a big deal.
