F1 2022 Season

Drive to Survive is out today, just finished the third episode. It's worth viewing and will no doubt reignite some boring and old arguments from last season.

I’m new to F1 and drive to survive is one of the main reasons why. What are the old F1 fans opinions on it? Like or dislike (I think I know the answer)

I like it a lot. It's a great way to expose new people to the sport and it gives the people who already love it a glimpse at the background politics and goings on we don't see just following the races.

I love it because it got you interested and also I love drama even if it's forced

I normally enjoy it.
But really can't be bothered revisiting last seasons clusterfeck in drive to survive. Last season is tainted.

Too much focus on Dannyric, not sure why maybe he is the only one that welcomes it?

It does tend to miss some of the key narratives of the seasons I've found, sensationalist in places, but a good gateway series for new fans.

Watching the first episode, Horner praising Lewis as one of the all time greats at different points last season and then we see private footage of him saying 'I wish he'd shut the feck up, how many times do we have to sit and watch this shit'. Bitter old man.

Obviously Mercedes and Lewis are under his skin.

When Horner and Geri were riding on horses in the 1st episode the cameraman definitely followed behind the wrong horse for the close-up shots.

imagine 2 or 3 cars all experiencing that as they head into the first corner and trying to avoid wheel contact by fine margins ... safety car is going to be busy (so put your money on max winning being gifted every GP)

Surely, FIA can't expect to carry into the season with that. They will kill the drivers by the time we reach a quarter or a third of the season done.

I like it. I only started watching Drive to Survive recently, but been following F1 for a while (Minus the Mercedes era). It accomplishes what it sets out to do. To create intrigue for newcomers, to reignite some memories for fans and has a decent level of drama to hook casual F1 viewers.

No better example of selective editing to add intrigue than what drive to survive did with Leclercs Monaco retirement. Making it look like a deus ex machina drama rather than a predictable outcome after his qualy mistake and Ferrari’s gamble.

Dislike but only watched a couple episodes of the first season. Just seemed a bit fake really, and a bit boring if you watched the season unfold. That said I don't think it's a bad thing if it's bringing in more fans.

Still, putting it on free to air TV would probably bring a hell of a lot more.

Shame about Red Bull's livery, I think their car would look really cool with the new upgrades.

Hamilton quoted as saying Mercedes arent in a position to win any of the early races, alot of work to do on the car. Not like Bahrain last year where they turned it around in the race.
