F1 2022 Season

If they’re going back to the start, then surely they should’ve let George re-join if they could’ve fixed his car? It makes no sense

Think they should up the height of the barriers to the crowd after that, I know it's rare this sort of launch happens but it was too close to comfort to going over them. Make them clear, but taller.

Let's face it, apart from the front cars, not involved in the accident, how do you decide the starting order for the rest of the grid?

Read somewhere that’s it’s just the qualifying grid, when the crash happens on first sector, first lap.

Is he not allowed to move over to the racing line? Gasly would have known he would, others on that side of the grid where as well. Looked like Gasly went for the gap too late.

Gasly was already in the gap, you can see him try to slow down when he realised George was going to hit him but he can't just make his car disappear.

Russell got a poor start, got passed by Latifi then tried to close the gap but Gasly was already in it.

That was a crazy crash. When I saw this car upside down in the back of the shot (of cars going through turn 2) I was sure this was going to be bad. I'm glad he is ok. Once again, it is amazing how safe these cars can be.

Even though Sainz is benefitting from this, Don't understand why he is going to start on pole again. Though I full expect max to take it back, unless Ferrari change to softs.

I am not sure if people understand that it's not just Lewis and Max unlucky, there's basically half of the drivers on the grid who gained positions after the first start and all of them are unlucky same as those two. Alonso gained two very good positions on the start, I'd say he is the unluckiest one.

Just seen a picture of Zhou upside down. The halo is 100% saving him as its keeping him so his head is clearing the ground. Saw the f2 crash and it saved the guy in that too

After watching the accident a few times now, I agree that was on Russell , on the Hards falling behind and trying to defend on cold hard.
Stewards have said no action will be taken, maybe should have been a penalty for the next race.

Might make it awkward for the spectators behind.

Anyone got video of the protesters?

Can someone explain, based on the rules, why it’s wrong to go back to the original grid order?

So did Hamilton? And Max took the lead? I agree with your underlying point by the way, just not with how you determine who is the “unluckiest”.

I think it’s more of a bit of both tbh. How far into a gap would you expect to be to ‘claim’ track position? I’d say racing incident with a really unfortunate (or fortunate as he’s alive) knock on effect to Zhou.

it’s just the way it is. if you don’t complete a lap it’s not officially happened. just one of those weird f1 rules

Vettel was at fault for the other incident too. Literally crashed into Ocon(?), he was probably dsirupted by watching the other crash and wasn't concentrated enough.

It’ll go down as a racing incident but I really also do think Russell knew he had a bad start, had seen Latifi go through that gap, and really should have seen Gasly there instead of closing in on him.

I think he crashed into the back of Albon, but can’t really blame him. It was absolute carnage for anyone behind Russell and Zhou. Hard to make the “he wasn’t concentrating” argument, he clearly tried to stop.

State of this wanker. He's everywhere.

I guess it makes sense now. They could figure out the grid for the drivers up front, but probably can't for the guys in the back.

That's not the case on any other laps, which is what feels weird. A red flag is normally the position at the point of it being shown but I get that it may be difficult when there's a load of overtaking going on - Leclerc and Hamilton would be difficult to sort for example.

channel 4’s fault for giving him a platform from his river cottage. fame went to his head.

Oh I agree, racing incident, a fair portion of the blame sits with Russell but that's just racing.

What else is he supposed to do though, head into the corner on the wrong racing line and potentially take someone out there instead, or just fall back further and wait to cut across, not many drivers would do that. Either way just glad Zhou is alive.
