Mauricio Amadaeus Pochettino | Chelsea sack watch

This is as bad at the Conte Chelsea sacking. Does he take pre season training whilst he waits?
I imagine they will sack him once they sort things out with Galtier. That Conte situation was one of the most bizarre things to happen, has it happened anywhere else in the top flight?

He's still technically the PSG coach, isn't he? This must be the longest sacking in history.

Imagine planning pre season for a man who knows he is getting sacked any time now.

How can you run a club like that? The CEO was also out saying we are negotiating with a new manager whilst Poch is in place.

No, Galtier was allegedly at the Camp des loges today. Sarri "left" Napoli on May 23rd and was appointed on July 14th.

And the reason for the delay is kind of amusing, Pochettino allegedly agreed on a severance package but then asked for next years performance bonuses. I like the pettiness.

If he’s rolled into the new performance year why not

Reminds me of when Conte got sacked on first day of pre season training by Chelsea in 2018. Chelsea could've done it a month earlier but guess there was some sort of contract technicality so held off for a few more weeks.

Assume PSG are fixed on Galtier but wonder if they would consider Sampaoli who's just quit Marseille. Mind you Messi and Di Maria weren't fond of him when he was their boss for Argentina but would be fun to see him managing a CL contender in europe.

Didn't know Poch was sacked until today, shows how little interest i had in this topic or attention i was paying to this thread. No surprise the CL exit would be the end of his time at PSG. What he "achieved" this season even his fan boy Amadaeus would have replicated if manager. Low hanging fruit is easily picked..

His replacement Christophe Galtier, the fella that beat Poch to the French league title in 2020/21 with Lille hmm.

I kind of forgot about him after our manager saga was over, but I'm glad we dodged this bullet at least.

He will probably take a break now, but what's next for him? La Liga? BuLi? Back to the PL? Rodgers will be sacked by spring next year, so maybe Leicester? Aston Villa next summer?

Would be interesting to see Poch at 2024 Madrid campaign if Ancelotti retires after the upcoming season.

Considering his stint at PSG I consider him a neutral manager, definitely overachieved at Spurs and is often underrated in his contributions there but then had an abysmal period in France. The excuses about specific players not fitting his philosophy tactically isn't a great one because Tuchels PSG played with an identity to the extent you could see his managerial input.

For me, the worst manager of the QSI era when you consider the resources and team he had available. The fall-off statistically once he came in was almost immediate and just kept dropping until the last couple of weeks of a season that was already wrapped up and with no stakes to it. This team without Mbappe, might not even have won Ligue 1, and at the very least would have been a very close win which is unacceptable either way.

He belongs at a mid-table club, that's his level. He can do solid things without too much expectations or star players to deal with. As soon as expectations come in or he has to manage a dressing room full of egos, he seems to fade away. His media interviews were so defensive and showed you someone who's weak mentally and can't hack it under the microscope. Big clubs with a lot of media attention should steer well clear of him and he can make himself a nice career managing clubs like Tottenham or Athletic Bilbao, and he'll probably over-achieve with them, but he's simply not cut out for the high-pressure environments IMO.

Must be nice being PSG/Bayern. Hoover up all the talent (both players and managers) and stop other teams in your league from ever truly competing with you.

I think Galtier is very good but not sure he's cut out for the favourites role. Strikes me more as someone who relishes being the underdog and who likes battling, physical players. Will certainly be interesting to see how he gets on with the likes of Neymar and Messi though. Perhaps he can create an "everybody hates us, prove them wrong" type of siege mentality, let's see.

You'd have to say this sacking has turned into such a saga you'd think we were handling it.

Literally the first time PSG recruits a manager in Ligue 1 since the QSI acquisition, and he comes from a club that was very far from competing last year and seemingly wanted a new manager anyway.
Never heard of Christophe Galtier up until now.
Beat PSG to the title the season before last with Lille. Pragmatic coach overall, but he has never had such talent to try and extract the best of, not to mention the egos that come with it. Will be an interesting season.

The issue with us we dont know the outcome of the sagas. Here it was always clear the sacking is coming, only a matter of when.

HE GONE

I think this is a impossible job. Poch is not as bad as this stint makes out. Pretty sure he will be in a top job somewhere. The drama at PSG is next level with Player power I suppose. Now add the Judge , jury and executioner powers of Mbappe ,,there will be fireworks!!

Failure from Poch at PSG.

The job appeared to big for him to ever get to grips with.
Be interesting to see what club takes a punt on him next.

Why has this actually taken so long to be confirmed? Everyone's known for ages? Everyone has known the replacement for a while now and they seem to be making signings for him already. Bizarre situation.

Pochettino's compensation.

Do feel somewhat bad for him, but he knew the job he was taking and he has the trophy monkey off of his back.

Good manager, interested to see what's next for him. Does he wait for someone like Madrid?

He leaves with the worst win percentage in the QSI era since Ancelotti, a decade ago.

No surprise. He never had it in him to manage a club like that.

If I went into a coma today and woke up in March and he was the United manager, I might be a little surprised, but I wouldn't be shocked.

Nothing against Ten Hag, he just obviously isn't going to be backed with his key targets. Just like every other manager wasn't
