Westminster Politics

This is unbelievable. He's really not going to go, is he?

It doesn't matter who says it, how many people resign, whether or not the 1922 committee change the rules.

Man is going to fight to his dying breath for no reason other than to stay in the post - because he doesn't even have a single policy he's actually passionate about.

I can't wrap my head around it

He's not going to go voluntarily.

The only thing that matters to him is power. He knows that he made it to the top job and when he's gone that's it. He will never have that power again so he will cling on for dear life.
The rest is all secondary.

But he will be gone.

Maybe not till Monday when the 1922 Committee which sets the rules for elections within the Tories is going to elect a Committee. They are then likely to change the rules for confidence votes allowing another confidence vote for the PM.
But it is possible that he will go before then.

But as you say, he is on borrowed time.

Boris is heading for the buffers and seemingly he is willing to take his party with him, his mind set is probably 'I won us the 80 seat majority by getting many people who in a million years would never have voted for the Tories, except for Brexit. So I will leave it to the public to turf me out in a GE, its up to you (Tory Party) to back me or sack me before the public gets to decided'.

The Tory Grandee's are now going to have their mettle tested!

Interesting point.
Assuming he manages to stay until Monday and the new 1922 Committee pass a rule change and there is then another confidence vote, which he looses, doesn't he then have to stand down before he could call a snap election?

He would no longer be party leader but would still be Prime Minister with the power to call an election.

Go on Boris, call an election and take your party down with you.

I watched some of the liaison committee this afternoon with Boris rocking on the edge of his chair throughout like a naughty schoolboy.
He said um or er about 4000 times and told almost as many lies.
The only person in that room who didn't know the game was up was Boris Johnson.

He'll be gone one way or another in the next few days.

Is Zahawi really calling for Boris to go now? That would be hilarious

I dont think he'll go. He wont go willingly and they cant force him, probably drag on a bit longer.

starmer has been anonymous. force him into campaigning and i'm not sure labour's polling lead would hold. as divided as the tories are right now, labour is also massively divided.
Dunno I liked his jibe earlier during PM's "Isn't this the first recorded case of the sinking ships fleeing the rat"
