Fair enough. Again, I thought Fergie was very fair with when he decided to let squad players leave, especially those with a connection to United who could have been convinced otherwise out of love for the club.
Back to Henderson. I fail to believe Ole outright said he would be number one at the beginning of last season. The guy seems very bitter that he didn’t take his chance. We literally had one of the worst seasons ever, three different managers, and none of them fancied him.
I do believe he was messed about and knew this blowup would happen as he's a very cocky young keeper and I said the same a year ago he'll be fuming about missing first team action somewhere and here we are. The club made a rod for it's own back with De Gea's wages and while I think Henderson is ok, we can do much better for the next number one. He's also so sure of himself which can be a good thing that it'd be silly to try and string him along, it's first choice or bust with the lad. He's not going to be fine wasting precious time on the bench so we really should've sold him or loaned him again with a view to sell. It's just poor running of the club as this was clear.
I don't think he's on the level of the top keepers that have a generally bigger frame and are a few inches taller, he's quite small looking in the goal but has some good attributes.

I mean I have some sympathy for him as he was meant to start last season as the number one GK but he got long covid and DDG performed well during that time. But he also shouldn't be so naive to feel entitled to a starting position just because he was promised before the season started. Surely, he must have some understanding of the dynamics within the squad over the season. If it was as straight-forward as promised means you always start no matter what is happening, I'm sure multiple players from each squad would be having these outbursts.
I think Ole promised him the number 1 spot but when he got covid and De Gea was back in the team and performed well, Ole stuck with De Gea which was the obvious choice.

I’m sorry but he is so far DeGea that he can’t actually complain. Feels pretty good that he is not in the team anymore. The less negativity and other stuff the better.

If the report is true - and it could be as it's been repeated a few times - I feel Ole shouldn't have promised him an automatic starting place.

I don't know how your second statement tracks with the first statement. At the start of last season, it was looking like Henderson would start as the #1 but unfortunately for him, he got long covid and like you mentioned DDG started very well. So IDK how thats Ole doing Deano up a kipper.
I feel sympathy for any player who is the backup. Henderson wasn't good enough when he came in, even if DeGea never regained his spot, Henderson wasn't good enough for United. His moaning to the press only makes the good will disappear.

I've got no problem with most of the things he said, and he has a right to feel annoyed - he wasted a year of his career.

Still, goalkeepers do tend to have inflated ego's. Better that than lacking self confidence.

Henderson had only proven himself at small EPL club/lower league level such as Sheffield United, Grimsby, Shrewsbury and Stockport. His CV makes him a 2nd choice goalkeeper at a top club. So really there's nothing that justify his arrogance especially when our 1st choice GK happens to have a record number of Sir Matt Busby awards.
That's why I was always against hyping kids as its so easy for them to believe their own hype. Unfortunately United lack the structure to acknowledge that. Nobodies are given ridiculous contracts both in term on longevity and salary, we had a manager (can you really call Ole a manager though?) who guaranteed him a 1st team place even though he already had the highest paid goalkeeper in the world at his disposal and the fans do not help either. Just look at Garner whose already been considered the next big thing simply because he did fairly well in the long ball/rugby league. There's a huge gap between playing well against the likes of Helik, Travers and Norwood and playing well against the likes of De Bruyne, Salah and Haaland.

Yeah that line was proper weird. In some twisted way I can see how it makes sense for him, but I'm not convinced that this is how a professional should behave
exactly. He basically burnt bridges with ETH as well which is stupid considering that he's at the beginning of a long term contract. The stupidity some of our players have is unreal. I mean why would Henderson sign a long term contract with us when we already had DDG in the team? Did he really believe that we would put the highest paid goalkeeper on the bench? Same with the likes of Lingard etc. Did they even bother looking around and see the competition they would have for first team? Did they analysed the person who was making the promises to them at all? If so how on earth did they missed the fact that Molde had no idea what rotation is? FFS he ran Rashford to the ground and he might have ruined his career because of that.

He wasn't found out for Sheffield, though. So why would he now? He's a perfectly solid PL keeper, I don't see how there are any questions about that. Wether that's good enough for United is a different question, mind

Sheffield United took everyone by surprise and played exceptional defensive football. If I recall they finished midish table and had a lower goals conceded.

He will be found out this year, he's bleating on far to much for the football karma god's not to knock him down a peg or two.
We already know that. We're talking as though he was never given a chance here and this loan will tell us if he's any good, but he did get games here, and he wasn't very good.

He wasn’t impressive at all when he came in though. I think fans got excited by someone who came off their line but actual goalkeeping was middle of the road

Just watching the interview now, can understand his frustration but bad mouthing the club (whilst still a Manchester United player) and saying he is gutted he can't play against us this season just further highlights the need to sell him. An ok keeper that thinks he is Buffon.
