Wrong. He's said his preference is a back 4 but he is choosing a back 5 to be more cautious in these games and compensate for injuries. This whole line up is about being cautious and countering.
It's a good thing, it tells us that for a player to succeed, there are so many things to consider other than the league he used to play before

This Chelsea kit is horrible, some sort of half Inter, half QPR golem.
They wait to put the flag up as they can just check the build up if a goal is scored. By not stopping play, a player is injured.

I think that’s the problem. Lampard doesn’t have the tactical nouse to grind out a lot of clean sheets to compensate for the lack of goals.

VAR has no involvement in that at all regardless of whether the ball was out or not. Linesman or referee should spot that the ball is out. Neither does.

He’s not as bad as they say… simply put, he is a men manager, not a football coach. Without grown-up, smart players a la Khedira, Pjanic, Mandzukic, etc. he is lost.

But the linesman is supposed to hold his flag until the play has stopped because if he prematurely raises his flag and the ball wasn’t out after all (as seen by VAR) then a perfectly good goal would have been ruined. That’s where VAR comes in. If VAR wasn’t there the linesman immediately flags it as he sees it and Godfrey doesn’t get injured (if the linesman saw it as ball over line)

You just proved my point by saying "these games". His overall approach and trying to work off a foundation of that back 3/5 should be the norm and catalyst...but it is not.
