Again you're being completely disingenuous. People think this was boring. They're not calling bs. If it could have been red flagged that would have been a better option for spectators but only if it was legal.
More people liked last year's ending. No one, or only a handful of boring people, liked this one.But people didn't like this ending.
They didn't like last years ending either.
So are we suggestion we wouldn't be happy either way?

Only if it favours your driver...This is what everyone wanted last season to end like? Finishing a race under a safety car is a disgrace
YupMax will retire as the GOAT.
Yes, rules are rules, fine.
But last year Hamilton fans were disgusted with the ending. Max fans weren't.
This time around, without a title on the line, it seems everyone wanted the race to have a finish.
That suggests to me if roles were reversed last year, Lewis fans would have loved the ending.
Just my observation of course
I think after he wins the WDC at singapore he shouldnt race again this season. Just play no9 for utd and score 50 goals before the start of next season. Who needs haaland? We have supermax the greatest GOAT ever blud. After all he is the GOAT of all time of every sport, in every universe, of every dimension, every to be crrated or yet to be created.A new herculian sportsman destined for real GOAT status has stood up. Max, go get those world championships! 10 10 10, we want 10.
People probably said the same about Vettel.Max will retire as the GOAT.
I’m starting to think Latifi won’t win the championship.
With a crane being brought out onto the track that should have been red flagged but of course that would not have given Max a definite win. They only finish a race under the safety car when max is in the lead.
Yep.Crofty is clueless and bitter. There are clear guidelines for red flagging and this didn’t meet them.
Red flagging if there’s a track obstruction with x laps to go is a fine idea but you’d have to write it into the rules.
Red flag and restarts here and in Abu Dhabi would probably have been best.
Worth noting that there would have been less complaints last year if they’d red flagged it, as Hamilton would probably still have won then in a fair fight.
Mr Consistent. Very rarely sparkles, very rarely makes a mistake.Another race I'm totally convinced confirms Russell is secretly just an AI driver, he does nothing of note, flies under the radar and collects his good result. 7 podium finishes now yet outside of his pole in Hungary he's done nothing spectacular.
At no point has anyone gone "oh shit here comes Russell!", he's even boring in the wheel to wheel stuff as he just picks his battles. If Merc ever give him a race winning car he's going to be hard to beat over a season, he's so consistently boring.

Just to be clear, I have absolutely no problem with this ending. It ensures that the best driver of the day won, benefiting from the 20 second gap he had made. I’d always prefer that outcome over a manufactured one lap shootout. However, you do understand that the difference today was that, had they restarted, it would have, at least, been a fair fight?
Had situations been reversed last year, I’d have been happy enough for the FIA to do the right thing and reverse the result. Sporting integrity should always trump any personal preference for one of the participants.

Jenson Button regen (although Button was more likeable).
you've missed Spa from last year out of that list.Safety car finishes and winners before today:
Bahrain 2020: Lewis Hamilton
Bahrain 2019: Lewis Hamilton
China 2015: Lewis Hamilton
Canada 2014: Daniel Ricciardo
Brazil 2012: Jenson Button
Monaco 2010: Mark Webber
Italy 2009: Rubens Barrichello
Australia 2009: Jenson Button
Canada 1999: Mika Häkkinen
But yeah, they only finish a race under the safety car when Max is leading![]()

He got half points for a race that should have been cancelled. Not a safety car finish. And he got half points in a race he probably would've won from pole.
Or do you think F1 orchestrated these conditions so Max didn't have to race that day?!

I'm quite sure that the red car we can see in that picture is a safety car.Not a safety car finish. And he got half points in a race he probably would've won from pole.

That is a really good point.I'm quite sure that the red car we can see in that picture is a safety car.
Either way the race should never have taken place and The last race as per the rules should have finished under a safety car. Either one of those things happening and he wouldn't have won the title.
I was also sure that after what happened to Jules Bianchi if a crane needed to be brought onto the track the race was supposed to be red flagged.
absolutely this, man took one for the teamMasi is a legend for not letting the championship end like this last season. We could've used his leadership today.
Yes they did the minimum distance they had to do not to give refunds to the crowd ... It should never have startedHe got half points for a race that should have been cancelled.
It was a farce behind the safety car.
Its his first proper WDC that isnt tantied and is fully deserved. Its a huge shame we didnt get to see the psychological effects of a drawn out wdc race between max and leclerc. The pair of them underb extreme pressure would have been a interesting watch.Yes they did the minimum distance they had to do not to give refunds to the crowd ... It should never have started
As for max a great drive today ... And he will win his first non human error world championship with ease
Hard to imagine that red bull and max not being right at the front again next year ... Who knows hopefully Ferrari cut the mistakes and merc make a car they can understand and we get a more competitive season next year
Of course, the key problem last year was that the rules weren't followed with regards to letting lapped cars either all stay in place or let them all come through - which is clear inconsistency and was very hard to justify. (Except with the get-out clause 'the race director can ultimately do whatever they want'.) It's not about the use of the SC or a red flag.Yes, rules are rules, fine.
