F1 2022 Season

Decided to sleep and not watch.
Will watch it later, well what there was.
Well done Max, he was always winning this years WC, he has been far and away the best on the grid this year, its the people round him I dislike.
After all the hype at the start of the season about new cars and closer racing, this season been has been disappointing, Mercedes not close, Ferrari impoding on themselves, Max won't win an easier WC.
Hope next season Mercedes and Ferrari and one or 2 others, get their shit together and give RB a proper fight.

Just realised I somehow chose Zhou for the fastest lap on the predictor. Oops!!

Annoying as I'd have picked Max who got it urgh

Not seen the race but sounds like it was a complete and utter shit show?

Oh well, congrats to Max on his first championship title.

I thought it was actually decent minus the front 3. From Ocon onwards there was plenty of competitive racing for a short race.

The weird thing is they introduced the rule so that a farcical situation like Spa would never happen again, but introduced a rule where it clearly could.

The FIA are just so incompetent.

F1 is dead now with an average driver winning purely because they have the fastest car. We need to go back to the days when everyone was in agreement that the best driver won against teams that were equally as strong. Hamilton/Mercedes, Vettel/Red Bull, Schumacher/Ferrari and Haaland/City.

Just caught up.

Crazy that more people didn't pit earlier considering how much faster the fresh tyres were.

The likes of Ricciardo in 11th down, they all missed a trick there. No idea why the teams were slepeing.

Turned off my YouTube notifications but then decided to check my email for some reason, where I had an email from Red Bull telling me they’d won the title

Doesn’t sound like I missed a classic though. Deserved winner. Been pretty faultless all season.

Max just a different level this season. Perez nowhere near. Can see Max winning 5 WDCs on the trot.
Bold claim, I can see him winning 5 easy but not on the bounce, this season has been easy for him, easier than any of Lewis wins.
Next season I hope will be a closer fight, Mercedes will have learnt lesson and they should be better and oters will join the fight.

Watched the highlights and it was a decent race once it got going
Max with a 20sec+ gap in those conditions was very good.
Leclerc with a five-second time penalty for cutting the chicane on the final lap, it was right and gave Max his WC win.

This is a joke of a sport as I said before. If the rules are this clouded as so no one knows what happens then it's a shit show.

What made me smile was the fact it was not Horner that told Max he was WC :D

Yup, stole his big moment. Must have been a nightmare for Drive to Survive too.

Horner and Max will probably re-record the message in the next race for the cameras and pretend like it wasn't a weird blunder.

World: You should not get full points for a race that barely happened
FIA: We hear you. To stop such a farce happening again, there will be a sliding scale of points based on the number of laps completed
World: Great!
FIA (whispers): But we'll award full points, irrespective of the number of laps, as long as we don't end under a red flag.
World: What? Did you say something?
FIA: Oh, nothing, nothing!

They wanted Red Bull Honda to win the Championship in front of their home crowd and had enough wiggle room in the rules to make it happen. With the Commentators saying it would be half points all race it would have been easy for someone from the FIA to put them straight but no they like their clouded rules.
It really makes no difference. Max was going to win the tittle anyway but they had to make it so he won at Honda's home track.

I agree with the previous poster - short of a mini rule change to slow down the Red Bull, like they did with Mercedes last year, then Max is going to run away with every championship until the next big rule changes.

Perez won't be allowed to challenge him even if he was capable, and Red Bull
are simply too far ahead, while other teams are trying to figure out how to catch up they have time to pull even further ahead.

Not the case in the slightest. The rule was made after last season. The rule always stated it applies when a race is only X% completed AND the race doesn't finish under a green flag.

This race finished under a green flag so the half points rule doesn't apply.

It might be a stupid rule but they followed it exactly. Not their fault people didn't read/understand the rules.

The problem is the pundits at sky don't read the rules and then the rest just parrot what they hear on the telly.

It is they could have put them straight. For well over an hour they were saying that it would be half points all that it would have taken to put them right was a text or e-mail.
The teams didn't know either both Red Bull were seen checking the rules after the race to see what had happened.

Agreed they should have sent out a message saying there would be full points but that's not what you said in your post. You implied they wiggled the rules to get the result. That is not the case.

Also on all the FOM graphics they where showing full points to be fair.

It is. In those conditions the 5 second penalty for Leclerc was harsh.

Tell you the truth I haven't seen the rule but it's been reported to be vague.

So if it stops the guy you don’t like people should be able to literally cut corners and cheat?

come on.
I thought the rule was that if you went off the track that you had to come back on behind the car that was in front of you when you went off. Not directly behind the car but you couldn't be in front of a car that was in front of you.

Any way as I said before Max was always going to win the title so it stopped nobody.

He went off the track knowing that he would lose his position if he didn’t, he had to face a penalty and did.

Unless they let Max rewrite that rule as well in his 20 second relaxation time with an evil cackle
