Here in Italy we've been getting shedloads of money from the EU as a post-Covid stimulus, as have the other member states. It's great, we're even getting infrastructure improvements in our little village.

But of course Ellwood is as ignorant of how it all works as the rest of them.
But it's not the case. Look at the quotes carefully, he is suggesting that the UK and the EU should create a single market not that the UK should join the current one. He talks about creating a single market and then refers to "that single market". He is doing what you have been complaining on a daily basis, unicorns and cherry-picking.
I took the other quote from his local paper the Bournemouth Daily Echo but found his quote in the Guardian:
“All these challenges would disappear if we dare to advance our Brexit model by rejoining the EU single market (the Norway model),” he wrote.
It caused a big stir amongst his fellow Tories.
Either way it isn't happening and wouldn't solve most of the problems.

So a big reason for Brexit was the free flow of labor from other parts of Europe but now it seems the not British enough are next.

In fairness, while I agree with the overall sentiment of this post, our approach to the refugees from Ukraine was undoubtedly amongst the least welcoming and with the most bureaucratic hoops amongst all the European countries (almost like we were trying to dissuade them from coming......).

The UK have let in less Ukrainian refugees per capita than most EU countries (e.g Ireland). The Tories intentionally made it very difficult.
We're very happy now to have the right to live in a European country, even with our bizarre new government. Of course, the whole (deliberate) premise of Italian politics is that all governments are coalitions and they always break down, which prevents one party staying in power for years and years. The UK could learn from that.

Britain faces low investment climate, labour shortage, increasing trade deficits, higher interest rates and a ballooning fiscal deficit. The country is fecked.
The biggest scandal is that all these are being discuseed as transitionary and not long term structural problems. What's worse, Labour don't want that discussion either.

feck me, he’s still flogging that dead horse? The vaccine rollout had nothing to do with EU as mentioned a million times, and even if it did, most EU countries caught up within no time, so it had very little to no effect on anything, not opening up and certainly not on the most important figure of all when claiming it’s success.
If that’s the best “success story” so far from Brexit, that should tell you everything about these daft corrupt cnuts.
