Enzo Fernández | signs for Chelsea

He’s played in 18 out of 20 games in the premier league. I wouldn’t say that’s “hardly using him”.

If the Enzo deal is off, then that’s good news but also strange and possibly foolish by Chelsea to let Jorginho go. Especially to a rival.

Yes apparently they do  The fans just don’t like him like McFred.

But as I’ve said with Enzo they are two far apart. Chelsea cannot afford the full fee in one payment and Benfica don’t have any to sell.

TalkSport have been talking like it’s a done deal. Feck me Jim White loves a transfer

He stays

The Argentine footballer will continue to serve the Benfica, according to RTP.

The Chelsea did not meet the financial claims demanded by the reds.

Benfica demanded the cash payment of the termination clause, the English paid the 120 million but in several tranches. The president of the Reds, Rui Costa, was adamant.

It is very unlikely that Chelsea will pay the clause in the conditions demanded by Benfica. The transfer market closes at midnight and until that moment everything can happen, but a source related to the transfer assured RTP that Enzo will remain in Benfica.

The player is away from the team, does not line up tonight, and showed he does not have the psychological conditions to line up against Arouca.

The back and forth was with FDJ tbf.

True. Although, am quite sure we had contact with de Jong and he agreed on the deal providing he can get a mutual agreement with Barcelona (famous deferred wages issue). Otherwise, it didn't make sense for us to wait that long or even make an offer to Barcelona.

In any case, it is a complicated deal. Am hopeful we can have have a clearer situation this time around. At least, try to make a deal early or have a deadline until we are willing to wait.

As crazy as Chelsea are acting in the transfer market…it would be utterly mental for Benfica to not accept the 100+ million being offered.

Enzo has only been in Portugal a few months! the profit they would make is ridiculous.

Chelsea were always going to cave on this.

Strange negotiating to let Jorginho be public news whilst still not agreeing the deal.

Benfica in dreamland here!

Dream scenario now is Enzo collapses and they pull the Jorginho deal

Will boil nuclear amounts of piss

Bizarre how he seems desperate to go there right now. They're 10th and likely won't have Champions League football til late 2024 at minimum. He could have his pick of clubs in the summer.

Sky are reporting a medical is underway

Are they? I'm seeing reports we have a medical team on standby in case there's a breakthrough, not that he's already taking a medical. Only common sense to have one ready with so little time left before the deadline.

If he joins he'll have Champions League football in about two weeks.

Yeah but he's also got that at Benfica, and likely next season too. Whereas he probably won't at Chelsea.

Good player but seems a bit overrated to me. Could be wrong of course.

No one can question that. A player who most of Europe has seen for what 6 months and a WC? £115m is a big big sum, its a record fee for the PL.

I wonder what Souness will say about him, will he get the same Pogba treatment for him?

That hardly matters though. Players don't tend to make decisions like that based on the next 12 months. We have both signed players without CL football before.

That is Euros?

Yeah it's more on the timing. Middle of the season to a team that's struggling when he could just wait until the summer and see if you've picked up a bit of form/judge his options then.

United are a different pull to Chelsea. Who have Chelsea signed without CL footy for the season ?

With the payers Chelsea have brought, they have a very good chance to make the top 4. People are talking as if they won't just because they are currently 10th. Liverpool and Chelsea both can.

United just have to not give up and keep getting points. Just hoping both miss out of the top 4.

I hear you, but you get a huge offer like that from big club like Chelsea you're going to want to go. Taking my Chelsea tinted glasses off, it's more sensible for him to wait but I can understand why he doesn't want to wait when the offer from Chelsea is there right now.

That's besides the point though. We both have enough pull to convince players. We signed Kante just after we finished 10th and no European football at all the following season.

I get that, money also is a big motivator. There are some players, who look at CL for the coming season and make decision and there are others who think, this is the project, they are signing xyz, with me in the team, we should get CL.

People forget the PL is actually massive. Also, there are times where an opportunity comes once, you have to take it.

Look at the likes of Maddison, Zaha who all had opportunities to go, either the club didnt let them or they didn't push. I bet you they both regret it.

Kante signed in 2016.

Jorginho snubbed City to join us in 2018, though that was also heavily affected by Sarri becoming our manager.

Kepa signed in 2018 with a world record fee for a goalie. He obviously turned shite afterwards but at the time was among the most sought after goalkeepers in the world.

Nkunku apparently signed his contract with us in December 2022 when it was already looking unlikely we'd have CL and now Enzo wants to sign right now when CL football for next season is looking even more unlikely than a month ago.

So overall not that many 'top pulls' but that's probably more to do with the fact we've only missed out twice in the last 19 years.

Chelsea are 10 points off top 4 with a mess of a team, have no striker despite spending 600m, and have Potter as manager who apparently doesn't know what he's doing with them. They aren't a concern. They haven't signed a group of world class players. They've signed projects who might turn into class players, but are a bit away and inexperienced.

Damn. Really like the look of him. Hopefully the WC wasn’t a good representation.

Chelsea have a very good young team now especially with Enzo they just need a top manager now.

Would have loved Enzo at United.
