For everyone bringing up Van Persie, it's worth noting that he joined a team that had finished second with 89 points and scoring 89 goals in the previous season. It's not like he transformed a struggling team.
If Kane does indeed sign, expecting him to immediately turn us into title challengers is probably overly optimistic. We're much further away than we were in 2012. Hell, we actually scored FEWER goals in the league with Van Persie in the team (89 vs 86). Imagine if that happens with Kane.
Do a player for player comparison then. I want to see how far off this team is from the team back in 2012.
