He didn't even know the club was for sale until last week.

And even then, he's talking about buying the club, not the shares as such. He should have referred to us properly.
That was the Glazers' way of rubbing shit into our collective faces. That made sense.
But this kumbaya, new age crystal bidder should know better.
I find myself increasingly uncomfortable to judge Jassim on what another Qatari owner did. It does stinks a bit of stereotyping. Regarding the rest, most people have no experience in football prior buying from a club. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't judge INEOS record in football

I’m not neutral, I have a bias against state ownership and lean towards the INEOS bid for that reason.
If Jassim can prove he is genuinely independent and private then I would be open to this bid too, but with the billions in spending promised I just can’t see how that’s the case.
Im not seduced by the money or galacticos, I’d be happy with somebody who buys the club, clears the debt and simply operates the club competently. I feel that’s all we need.
I’m not stereotyping, he could well be like PSG or like Malaga, two extreme scenarios for you there, but for some reason you’ve decided he’s the good scenario with extremely limited information.
So how does that qualify you to judge how he might run a football club compared to how Ratcliffe has run then somewhat unsuccessfully so far?
They used their own wealth to buy up initial shares.
They then leveraged the purchase of further shares to outright purchase the club and placed that debt on the club's balance sheet.
They have never introduced any of their wealth generated outside of the club for direct capital investment in Manchester United.

As with Dev, you have no issues backing a guy with very limited information about his funding. He could well be a PSG situation or a Malaga situation, but you’ve backed him anyway and have a really strong bias. That’s a little bit odd to me.
Whenever someone wants to back INEOS in some way, especially after negative comments regarding their bid, such as the word “modernisation” being pounced upon this morning, you see that as someone being strongly pro INEOS.
Plant like myself has always maintained that we don’t have enough information, but that we lean towards INEOS due to the fact that the Qatari offer appears state backed, and we both are against state ownership due to it being an unfair advantage over 99.99% of other clubs on the planet.
Just as plant says above, if the Qataris could be more open here and transparent regarding their funding in order to convince us that it’s not state backed then I would be very neutral on the subject. I’d still need to see both detailed plans for the club before commenting further.
Well fair enough mate but you've been doing a very good impression of someone who's defending them.
If any of the original cash to purchase United was 'their own' it didn't go to United and hasn't benefitted the club in any way. And has been been repaid from the hundreds of millions they've taken out of the club.
And to be fair you replied to my post mate as opposed to vice versa. So I've still no idea which part of:

I couldn't care less about arguing semantics about the language used in PR and statements.
He's neither Malaga nor PSG although from the money being thrown around he's probably closer to PSG then Malaga. I mean Abdullah Al Thani bought Malaga for less money to what United spent on AWB. I very much doubt that the Qatari would let a 6b + investment fail and quite frankly I can see QIA being involved into the deal even if with a minority stake.

are we saying that every potential first time owner who is never owned a football club before it’s better than INEOS because INEOS haven’t taken Nice further than fifth in the league in just over 3 years?
You realise how odd that is right? We have absolutely no idea how Jassim would do at Nice for example.
It's obviously just basic logic to come to this conclusion though mate.
so, again, your entire backing appears to be on a presumption that he is state backed, yet you have absolutely no idea at this point how he is being funded.

Tbf it might be cos the Caf seems to autocorrect it otherwise now (which I’ve only just noticed!??) … but it’s worth checking.
We don't know how much Elliott have offered or what size of the pie they want, but the Glazers offered to sell 20% of the club to the Saudis in 2019. That would be worth £1.2bn based on a £6bn valuation.
I am throwing no eggs at no one. I know my role as a helpless spectator and quite frankly I wouldn't be pissed off if INEOS get the club as they are my second favourite bid (I prefer them to Ares, Elliott, the Glazers and the looney guy with the app)
However from what we know, Jassim's bid seems far more attractive then INEOS. I also prefer the unknown with huge ambitions and investment to match then someone who had been dabbling into football for quite some time and proven to be mediocre
I am speculating of course but its common sense really. No private investor has 7b-8b hidden under the sofa. If you ask me, I won't be surprise if the club will be eventually be bought up completely by Qatar.
