I mean, as I said in my one line mate "everything has to fall that way"Yeah and mathematically speaking Man United or Newcastle could still win the league if they win their remaining games and at the same time both City and Arsenal start losing all of theirs but is there anyone who actually think that might happen?
The probability for someone other than City/Arsenal winning the league this season should be around the same as Chelsea being relegated, which would require us to lose all of our remaining games (possible) and also coincide with multiple relegation-threatened sides going on winning runs all of a sudden (theoretical at best).
Everton 41 points (4W)
Leicester 40 points (3W 1D or better)
West Ham 40 points (2W 3L or better)
Leeds 40 points (3W 1D or better)
Forest 40 points (3W 1D or better)
Wolves 40 points (1W 3L or better)
Basically a minimum five of those runs need to happen and we have to lose all remaining games to be in any real trouble. I don't see Everton, Leicester, Leeds and Forest all turning their form into title winner quality for the remaining games, especially as some of them have really tough fixtures coming up. Maybe one could surprise us and somehow fly their way into safety but at least three of them doing it is just not going to happen.
Mount has always been a player who for some reason has divided the fanbase. Some rate him very highly while others don't rate him at all. The latter group seem to have some weird agenda against him going back to when he was performing really well and was the club's POTY two seasons running.
Personally I think Mount is a really good player but it has to be said his form this season has been utterly terrible. Maybe it's been partly because he's been overplayed to the ground in the last couple of seasons, maybe it's the uncertainty with the contract situation, maybe it's just the team's form and lack of structure in general or more likely a combination of them all. Either way he's not been playing well.
I do hope the contract situation can be sorted out and he stays on. Maybe a solid compromise for all parties could be a 2-3 year contract to get a better idea where he fits in under the next manager and how influential his role in the squad will be before either party commits to a longer deal?
Nice to know you're not concerned with the fact that you can literally be relegated, that is a (albeit slim) possibility.
