Mauricio Amadaeus Pochettino | Chelsea sack watch

Correct. I have supported united much longer than I have supported Pochettino. It is just a shame that United didn't go for Pochettino. This season, I won't judge ETH because he is pushing us in the right direction, but having more loss than Ole isn't a good sign. I will see how ETH does next season
On the other hand he has more victories than any other manager since 2010/11 but not that you'd mention it.

Your obsession with Pochettino is disturbing.

Seeing you write in detail about Chelsea tells me you'll be their fan for a season.

Chelsea's new manager thinks trophies are for ego. He'll never last.

Let the death wind sprints begin! May the odds forever be in your favor!

Pochettino needs to stare clear of players like Lukaku (already stated he doesn't want to come back to chelsea) and neymar. He needs players that he had under spurs where they are willing to adopt to his style of football. Lukaku could be a llorente type striker but he must want to play that role.

Kane is ideal for them. His relationship with poch and leadership quality will have you guys challenging for a title next season. Any other strikers will be a gamble. Oshimen lacks the technical ability of a typically Pochettino striker, so he could be a gamble. Rasmus holjuland maybe more ideal if Pochettino can't get Kane. In addition, they would need rice to complete the spine of the team. His relationship with Mount, would bring good chemistry to the team and also the pressing football that poch wants to adopt.

As a goal keeper, I would say onana. Poch likes playing from the back and revolutionized the quarter back center backs in the premier league with aldwerwield and verthoghen. Having a gk that is comfortable on the ball is also ideal to a Pochettino system.

Correction to the system, I would actually employ poch to keep kovacic as back up to rice as they will need a midfielder that can bring the ball up from deep in the midfield

You're not going to pass FFP with that squad next year. Your revenue is going to be 25% down.

Why would Kane and Rice go to Chelsea this summer when they will be able to join Champions League clubs?

Kane won't because of Spurs.

But Rice might. It's been established before that players aren't particularly bothered about joining teams outside of CL when it seems like it could be a one off. That's how we got Kante. I believe United signed Pogba without CL. Both clubs regained CL football as expected and Kante went on to the league and CL of course.

That's still Nkunu, Onana, Rice....200m. A lot will bank upon how many of the dead weights you can get rid of.

The Nkunku deal was already done with a wage reduction with no CL. I doubt that Onana comes, he is happy where he is and they will demand inflated money. I really do not see us getting Rice, but it could happen if he wants it as Poch asked for him.

Nkunku liking social media posts about Poch. Good to see him excited.

Family atmosphere...

Is it just me, or does anyone else also read that tweet as "Poch wants to get rid of the ruthless winning mentality and success or fire strategy that made Chelsea successful in the Abramovich years"?

I think it's a perfect job for him. I'd be surprised if he doesn't do very well. They have plenty of unfulfilled talent there. They've had a diabolical season, it is impossible to imagine they can regress. The only way is forward.

I'm also not a big believer in narratives that when a big club is on the ropes it's a huge rebuild required to get back among the top 4. It's not. It's a suitable manager and few smart transfer moves that makes every difference. Converting the okay performances that they put in under Potter at times into actual results, much of which will come with confidence and squad harmony. If Poch can get that going he'll do fine.

I don't think Poch has demonstrated himself as a bonafide winner, though. Whether he'll take them to the summit I wouldn't be so sure. But the job at the moment is to improve the players they've invested huge sums into.

He will be sacked within 2 years, unless Chelsea are happy with top 4, which i doubt. At some point, they will expect him to challenge for trophies and he hasnt got it in him to do this every season.

He'll be sacked within a year.

Did Amadeus make that 'Who will win the league 1st, ETH or Pochettino' thread yet?

This appointment seems a bit desperate. Missed out on Enrique, missed out on Nagelsmann, settle for Pochettino who hasn't done anything of note for years now and massively underwhelmed (like Potter) when he took a step up to work with elite players who expected to win big stuff.

For it to work, Chelsea need to accept they're taking on a 3 to 4 year project with him and let him struggle the first couple of seasons until he manages to get the squad together like he did at Tottenham. It's going to take time but you can't envisage a scenario where he gets time.

We missed out on Bagelman because he didn’t want to go through an interview process and honestly both him and Enrique seem to be massively overrated on CAF. Didn’t want either of them.

From the sounds of it, Chelsea turned down Enrique because he wanted to coach in the CL QF vs Madrid and the hierarchy was worried about his break from club football and didn't want to rush into an appointment. Nagelsmann seems like a bizarre person who got annoyed the job wasn't handed to him sans interviewing, and now even Spurs have rejected him.

For better or worse, it seems Poch was our first choice all along. I desperately wanted Enrique, but I also prefer Poch to Nagelsmann.

Post a couple of examples of this "adoration" you speak of. I've never seen it.

Gary Neville continues to gush over Pochettino even if he hasn't managed in the Premier League since 2019, or been particularly successful since leaving.

I guess I'll have to take your word for that if you can be arsed posting the examples of "adoration" I asked for.

Not sure where this conversation stemmed from, but the Neville love is real. I get Gary's tweets on my feed.

"Adoration" might be a bit much, sure, but he does seem to be viewed as a top-level manager by some in the English media despite never winning a trophy in England and failing to do what he was brought in for in PSG.

Has poch ever played a 3 at back formation? Feels like managers have to try and make that work at Chelsea with them signing a ton of defenders recently.

2 years would make him tied for the second longest serving manager in the last 20 years

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure but I seem to recall that he was Poch-in as early as back when LVG got the sack.

Yeah, English media has lot of time for Poch. They throw his name for any top managerial position in other leagues when the reports in that country barely mention his name.

SAF was also fan of Poch, for a good reason too. Poch is very good manager.

I think Neville is carrying a lot of the weight for the media here. He seems head over heels in love with the man.

He is a good manager, but again I struggle to see how he fits the squad that Chelsea have. Unless they are going to get rid of some of their better players.

He is not the only one, also it's easy to see why he has lot of respect from English media. His record at Spurs is very good and with the budget they had, it was very good achievement.

It’s something smaller clubs focus on. This isn’t spurs Pochy. You’ll be expected to win or you’ll be out pretty sharpish

I honestly think his spell at PSG soured a lot of opinions on him and I include myself in that. He was well regarded among fans before that for the work he did at Spurs and Southampton.

Should have never taken that PSG job. It kind of undermined him as a manager. Sacked twice in a row, lost the league title in a one horse race and lost to player power. Another example not to bring romanticism into your job, he became PSG manager because he was their captain once. But even he knew what sort of club he joined... the clowns brought in Messi and asked the manager to perform a miracle fitting in 3 superstars upfront while the other areas are not so impressive. And now the fans hate Messi. It's a joke really.

This family atmosphere is very aligned with Boehly and Eghbaly. One of the first things they did with the Dodgers was spent millions on a family center where wives and girlfriends of players and staff could bring their families while their husbands were training or coaching.
