Harry Kane | Bayern Munich player

Kane for a couple of years until Mbappe/Haaland arrive - makes sense for Real and a great opportunity for Harry - especially as Bellingham is going too - Im sure Jude can translate for Harry as I don’t see him speaking Spanish!

Madrid would be a good move for all parties involved. Real get a Benz replacement for a few years, Kanes gets to win some trophies and then back to the PL in 3-4 years. He’s only 47 goals behind Shearer, he can come back in 3 years and still break that record.

I'm not panicking personally because I never expected it to happen. I would hope that after last year's De Jong nonsense the club have realised they can't spend a whole transfer window living off fumes of hope. It's clear Levy would likely drag it out the whole window, so just move on and go after the next target on the list.

Madrid now would be good for Kane, he'll get security of a longer contract on, probably, much better wages. He'll get to win a trophy or two, then he'll get booed on the way out. Circle of Real life, innit?

I’m genuinely amazed that so many of you are saying that this is a done deal off 1 tweet

Presuming he would prefer to remain in England, surely breaking that mark in United kit would be a marketing bonanza for the player (and club). But I also wonder would Newcastle take a shot at him? Any others?

I think it's strange that people (particularly United fans) are suggesting that it is a "no brainer" for the English captain to go to the current version of Real (the ones who just got utterly humiliated by City) over us. Given that Madrid have only won two La Liga's in the last decade, are they really more of a guarantee of trophies than we are right now? - we are both CL outsiders right now and I would say that going from Weghorst to Kane should give us a bigger boost than them going from Benzema to Kane.

We're one good transfer window away from being serious contenders for the PL and CL. I'm surprised at the negativity.
You what
I think yes, the team with 3 league titles and 3 European Cups in the last seven years with much better players are probably more likely a guarantee to win trophies right now..
Admire the optimism but we’re miles off competing for major honours.

It's a great player who United are interested in, according to the caf by-laws every single tweet saying he's going to another club must be viewed as absolute truth to make sure any hope is snuffed out.

If all the stuff about him preferring a move to a PL club so he can take Shearer's record is true, I'd say the most likely scenario is him leaving on a free next summer, followed by him signing a new Spurs deal as the second most likely option.
I don't know about Kane you know. I'm not doubting his ability as a player but he seems like a guy who's perfectly happy to win no trophies and stay in his comfort zone. I can't even see him at United, I reckon he'll go the Matt Le Tissier route.

It's becoming very obvious that Levy will not sell to us. We cannot waste the summer trying to change that. Build the core of the team, get a younger striker like Hojlund, and go all in on getting him free next summer.

At least we can feck this off early. I’d like to think we’ve learned something from De Jong, but you never know.

Honestly if Madrid are in for him he would be stupid to turn that down. Record smecord, He’s practically guaranteed at least one trophy at Madrid and competing on all fronts. I don’t think United offer the same sort of assurances.

So if it really came down to it between United and Real to close out your career the obvious choice is Real.

I get that impression too, but I don't think he's quite as staunchly attached to Spurs in the same way Le Tissier was with Southampton. If a better PL side want him, we know his head will be turned.

Maybe it's the fact that his family is settled in North London and wouldn't want to move away to another part of England, who knows ?

Even his 'attempt' to join City a couple of seasons ago was half arsed.

He fecked the City move with his current contract because it gave Spurs all of the cards in the negotiations. You can't have 3 years left on your contract and expect your club to budge on valuation. Despite this, he seemed quite obviously put out when it fell through.

I can absolutely see him staying at Spurs though.

How is it “obvious”

Yeah maybe that is the reason to be honest. Maybe the problem is he's too professional, there are plenty of other players who would kick up a stink and cause mayhem to leave though.

I just think that Levy isn't dumb and despite people calling him an idiot he's not dumb enough to risk Kane walking away on a free just to spite United. I feel like Levy actually thinks he can convince him to extend or has been given some source of optimism from Kane's side.

Imagine Kane leaves on a free and joins Arsenal/Chelsea for example...

Do you think these reports are coming out of thin air or Levy is dropping briefs to the press?
…& yet if they were to United you’d discredit them
Or approach them with some hesitancy? No?

in a way, I've always felt it was destined for him to join us at some point ... but if it's not this summer, I doubt it ever happens.

I still can't get my head around him signing that 6 year deal back then, without securing any sorts of realistic clauses in there. One of the most baffling decisions by a top footballer I've ever seen.

Really was. Like not even a non cl qualifying release clause or something. Absolutely nothing. Fair play to levy for pulling that off though.

Glad this one's a non starter this early in the summer. We can feck it off and see what happens towards the end of the window and see if Levy softens his stance but the reality is we need buy players that will still be here in 4 years time so we can build a squad instead of having to replace players every 2 seasons like what we do now.

City have players that were there before Pep and every year they've built on the squad. We sign whatever name is available this summer then have to replace them 2 seasons later with someone else so we never progress past that cycle.

There's another aspect of Harry's decision making we should keep in mind: his off-pitch marketing potential as the huge fish in a tiny Spurs pond. After all, he would still be in London, still racking up 25 goals per season and guaranteed starter status for England. The moment he steps up to a bigger club he's taking a risk of being part of the story of that club instead of being the the story at Spurs, and presumably all of the marketing deals he has and will sign onto being the big fish in a tiny top 8 pond.

That said, I think he should force a move to a bigger club, but it's not an easy decision to take that risk.

There is absolutely no world where being the star of Tottenham Hotspur is more lucrative than being one of the main men at Real fecking Madrid :lol:

Ask Gareth Bale or Luka Modric how that worked out

If he wants to stay in England, we will have a shot at him. We are a project on the rise with CL Football and who just won a trophy and almost won a second one. We must play this weekend n a smart way to make it happen, otherwise then go straight for Osimhen.

I don't think we're getting Osimhen either considering Napoli want £150million. Their chairman is just as difficult to deal with as Levy is.

Realistically it'll be Hojlund.

I think we'd be the ideal move for him still in purely footballing terms. He'd still be able to go for those big personal records while having a much better chance at some silverware than at Spurs. Sure the Premier League & Champions league look a stretch still, but you have to think we'd have won another domestic / europa trophy had we had Kane these past few years.

I think at this point in his career it makes sense to prioritise personal accolades over trophies, but as spurs he has no chance of the latter.
If he wants the record, maybe he had to accept the possibility that he could have his career ended up winning nothing. Plus his record might not stay very long with Haaland inevitably breaking it one day if he stays with City.

I could see the Madrid move going very poorly for Kane. Barcelona are in the ascension while Madrid are aging faster than their bringing in the young blood. He might not win the league for the next two , maybe three years. Their Champions League runs are also likely to be less than certain going forward.

We are one of the richest clubs around (even without new owners), and are consistently big spenders. I’m be of Osimhen or Kane will be our number 9, I’m certain.

We have ffp to contend with, and need to strengthen all across the pitch. We can't afford to splash almost our entire budget on one signing.

feck ffp, everyone seems to ignore it without consequence..

No chance we are operating on Google finance.Ltd whilst others are operating in Dark Web Inc.

What an unbelievable move for him and his family. Best for all parties in the sense levy can cash in, without selling to direct rival and kane will win trophies. Doesn’t ruffle the fans feathers either, I think most of them would understand this move at this point. Gutted as a United fan though, he makes us competitive.

If it happens, Shearer's record lives on at least another generation. I don't see anybody coming through that may touch it.

good for him. if this move goes ahead he'll finally get a chance to cut it at a big club with a genuine chance of winning a league title.

And United can move on. (should've moved for him ages ago oh well)

Honestly if Kane goes to Madrid and still remains trophyless

Can't blame him if he fancies Madrid, arguably the pinnacle for most footballers, as for us, maybe suggest £90M plus Martial and Sancho to Napoli for Osimhen, bring Thuram in on a free, and decline the kid from Atlanta.
