Unlike Mount, there have been no reports that Kane has categorically told Levy he will not be signing a contract.
All the reports are that Levy has not given up hope of goading Kane into another contract if they have a good run this season. And that’s why Levy doesn’t want to sell, especially to a rival.

Maguire + Martial + £50 million? Deals like that never happen, but seems about right.
That would be terrible for our FFP wouldn’t it? Or have Maguire and Martial values sufficiently amortised by this point?

If Kane was going to sign a new contract he would have done it by now. He'd be unbelievably stupid to sign a new contract in the next 12 months when he will have his pick of teams on a big money free transfer next summer.
I’m not keen on us waiting to be honest, any other striker target is a risk with Osimhen unattainable. There’s no guarantee we get top 4 next year so he might not even join us in that case. We need to make it happen this summer.
I'd be amazed if we could get more than 60m for both of them.
In a part-exchange type arrangement, could we not do something akin to the Pjanic/Arthur (Barca/Juve) deal that mutually benefits both parties? Or have FFP rules tightened to prevent artificial valuations like this? Martial's value is 15m euros on Transfermarkt and Maguire's is 20m euros, whereas Kane's is 90m euros so £50m plus those two sounds about right.
I'd say the 10 point deduction that Juventus suffered from the Pjanic deal would make me hesitant to do a similar thing...But they were obviously doing other shady stuff, like valuing players higher than they should be and confirming the transfers on/after certain dates to escape FFP deadlines.

Trouble is, it seems that FFP is so selectively policed. Lots of teams are finding all sorts of loopholes. Given that transfer valuations are inherently arbitrary, I'd have thought this was a canny but legal way of getting around it (within reason, unlike the Pjanic deal). But yeah, although I want us to be cuter in the market, I wouldn't want to risk us getting sanctions or be doing something that's considered cheating.

An analogy is the comparison of two otherwise unlike things based on resemblance of a particular aspect.
For example - ‘you’re thick as shit’ is an analogy.
Whereas Megadrive simply made a likely prediction.
Martial has been here long enough that the remaining value in regards to FFP would be very small, about £2.5m if I worked it out correctly. Maguire I believe is still about £26.5m. So in that theoretical scenario (Martial + Maguire + £50m) for £100m valued Kane, we'd be saying that we are 'selling' our two players for £50m together. That means we'd make a profit of about £21m between them to add to the amount we can spend this year due to FFP, while if we sign Kane to a five year contract only £20m would be coming out of this years amount so we'd actually be making a profit of £1m for this years total.
Is that right? In theory I think it is, but it also feels wrong to be making a profit in that deal (obviously only for this year since Kane would be costing us £20m for the following four years as well). Happy to be corrected by anyone with a better understanding.

Martial is 0 his wages is 13m a year. If we get rid it a massive bonus. So say 10m gives a 23m net gain to books.
I thought about wages afterwards, but you'd have to add Kane's as well. The two of them together supposedly make about £440k a week, so as long as Kane made less than that it'd add further profit in terms of what goes towards FFP. If we put Kane on what De Gea is currently on (£375k a week) it'd be a further profit of about £3.3m.
Of course, if we then sign a CB to take over Maguire's spot in the team that'd swing things the other way as we'd have to subtract his transfer fee and wages.

I have nothing against Mount but imo it's borderline stupid to use our limited budget to sign a player we don't really need but miss a player we absolutely need. We don't even have a single reliable #9 let alone a world class one. Who would massively improve us. It's just so stupid but with the clowns running this club you'll never know.
Anyway hope they're not that stupid and all this is just both sides bluffing.

Honestly, the people who are coming up with stories like this the last day or two aren't the most reliable of journalists they're kind of second-third rate ones. Now if Ornstein, Whitwell or Romano came out and said something, then maybe lets start to raise some eyebrows. Honestly though It wouldn't surprise me as well if it's us giving one last try to get Levy/Kane to bite before we totally and completely give up, that's why reports on other strikers have gone cold this week

Yeah he is the outstanding striker target,however dealing with Levy is absolute nightmare. I was having a chat tonight with my cousin who is a big Spurs fan and thinks he will leave but not until after the game in August

We could take whatever Levy says with a big pinch of salt imo. It's not like he's a man of his words anyway.
And imo it's actually not very bizarre. What Levy said is "I won't sell him unless it's a crazy offer". What we said is "80m or we walk". It's just both sides bluffing and haggling imo. Probably until the last days of the window when it's clear no one would offer more. 80m or nothing.
I started the summer thinking we had no chance of getting Kane until next year, but the more I think about it the more I expect us to make a real play for him late in the window. By then we should’ve rebuilt a lot of the squad with the signings of Mount, Hojlund, Onana/Costa, potentially Rabiot and a Maguire replacement, which would be a net spend of around 100m, with potential new owners in place ready to make a statement move. Levy would be twitchy knowing it’s 100m or nothing in a years time. He was never going to sell him in June/July.
£100m is just too much money for a 30 year old player. We could probably get Osimhen for a similar price.
Osimhen has a worse injury record than Kane does and he's what, 25?
