The only green smilie required here is one for you if you think that Spurs are going to be competing with United for a CL place next season! :lol: Absolutely no way in the world that you finish above 3 of United, City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle and Chelsea. You will be lucky to compete for a Europa League place and Kane surely knows this.

You talk about £15 million quid like it means nothing at all. That could mean the signing of a promising youngster, or the difference between having a bid accepted for a top player and falling short.

I can tell you right now that Harry Kane will have his pick of clubs on a free transfer and virtually all of them will offer more money, and more chance of success than Spurs.

I'd say the chances of him signing a new contract at Spurs are as close to zero as you could possibly get.

Nice trolling but everyone knows Inter had one of the easiest routes to the final. We beat them 2:0 twice in the group stage. They don't have a bad team but they are not close to City, Real and other top teams. Still in a final anything can happen and they played a good match I will give them that.

Why would he not just wait till end of the season to assess? As in end of next season, what would he have to gain by signing a new contract before then?

The thing is that from Kane's perspective, he probably doesn't see a difference between Spurs earning 80m from us or from Bayern so if Levy turns down our offer while accepting Bayern's, Kane would probably see it as needlessly vindictive - especially given that he's carried the team on his back for what seems like an eternity. People are forgetting that Kane was utterly (deliberately?) atrocious for the first few months of the PL season 2 years ago after being denied his move to the cheats. Spurs can't afford to make him unhappy again.

Of course, if Kane is happier to move to Bayern than us, then all bets are off. He may not be as bothered about the PL goalscoring record/moving his young family as he is about winning trophies - Munich is the obvious choice if so.

As I just pointed out to @balaks Spurs would need to finish above 3 of United, City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle and Chelsea to finish in a CL place. it simply isn't happening next season. They need to rebuild and aim to get back up there in the next couple of years - and ultimately that is highly likely to be without Harry Kane anyway. They are not a direct rival of United next season whether you or they believe that or not.

Top 5 get a champions league place next season (from what I understand) - Spurs definitely should be challenging for one of those spots.
 
Still think we should slap in a bid of 60 Million + Maguire to see how good Levy's resolve actually is.

Of course Levy is vindictive. I think even Kane accepted that by now. Levy will ask a price premium if the offer comes from a PL rival. Not saying this is good behaviour, I think the good karma move would be to let Kane go to you (I do think United is his preferred choice) for a reasonable price after all these years when he carried Tottenham. But he won't do it.

The question is what does Kane prefer:
- Join Bayern immediately
- Play another season for Tottenham and then join you.

I'm not a Spurs fan, but trying to look at it from a Spurs perspective, £0 next summer. I get another year out of arguably my clubs best ever player, much better chance of securing European football and he'll be 31, so on the decline. There's probably no Striker close to Kane that would join them now anyway.

It might not happen, but it's pretty much a 100% chance it won't happen if you sell your best player and only real source of goals to one of those teams. I know they're not a direct rival to us, but that's not how it works. Obviously Spurs want to be in a position where they are, so what's the point in making the gap bigger.

I wasn't talking about the past few years. I'm referring to right now. Bayern were swatted aside fairly comfortably by City. I imagine we would be very competitive against Bayern should we meet in the Champions League this coming season.

Bayern lost 3-0 in the 1st and drew 1-1 in the 2nd leg. With all due to respect, City can destroy every team. United did not even manage to draw aganst City once in the last 2 years. You got beat 6-3 last season in the PL.

By your logic, Inter is better than both Bayern and United because they had the closest match.

We beat City 2-1 in January. I don't necessarily think that Inter are better than Bayern or United. I just think there's a chasm between City and the rest. The rest includes both Bayern and United.

All these Spurs fans who actually support Kane, dont care in reality. Kane's main ambition is to be the record goal scorer in England.

I would like to know the rational behind the thinking of letting Kane go to another league tbh.

Yes of course! Why is this difficult to grasp? I couldn't give a single feck about Kane's records - the ONLY thing I care about is my club and the success of my club. I do not support Harry Kane, I support Tottenham. Kane playing in another league is much better for Spurs because it means that one of our rivals has not got him in their team. This should not be hard to understand guys come on.

Levy will let him walk on a free before he sells him domestically.....they are going to gamble that he will sign an extension at some point during the season
 
We keep hearing that Levy won't sell to a PL rival.

So why don't we just sit down over a coffee with him and say, "Daniel, Daniel, am I ok to call you Dan?. Listen we are NOT your rivals ok? Arsenal yes.Chelsea yes but not us. Are we good now?"

A simple strategy to de-escalate the situation and Bob's your uncle.

You are looking at this with very short term focus. Barring some kind of miracle they will lose him for free next summer anyway. Genuinely I think they would be better off taking as much money as they can possibly get this summer, drawing a line under the Harry Kane era and starting a proper rebuild. Otherwise they are highly likely to under-invest this summer - which with a new manager is exactly when they need to make some major changes - and end up with no money from Kane next summer. I would think this regardless of whether or not I wanted Kane to come to United.

But eventually you will lose him for free and long how would that benefit Spurs ? You're too focused on the short benefits of him not playing for a PL "rival" when he is an opportunity to strengthen on a squad.

At this point only Bayern made an offer. Man Utd's interest, just like Declan Rice, Caicedo, is just talk, no offer.

The point I was discussing was whether I would rather Kane move to another league or a domestic rival - I have said multiple times in this thread that he could move to Utd this summer but only if Utd pay up - Levy will (rightly) demand more money to sell him to a domestic rival but he would definitely sell at the right price.

What you are missing here is that every spurs fan is on a massive dosage of hopium that Kane, for some reasons during the season will reconsider and sign new contract.

So if you dont care about Kane, and only Spurs, why would you not want the extra 20/30m if it was on the table?

So clearly, its not just about Spurs is it? For example, if United sold any player, I would sell to the highest bidder.

You talk about rivals, but are United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, City actually Spurs rivals?
 
Bayern and Levy will reach an agreement. Bayern won't make an official bid unless Kane already agreed to the move. Harry will have a better chance winning league title and CL with Bayern, so a good move for him.

If Haaland decided to run away to join the circus would you prefer to sell him to City than us, on the grounds they aren't realistically your rival?
