Remember when Theresa May was the right wing of the Tory party? Feck me!

Because they can lie about wanting to invest in training British people to do the work and making sure the pay for the work is good enough to attract them.

Complete bollocks of course - no way do they want to put up taxes to fund care homes. They'll also claim that they are horrified that people have to sell the family home to pay for care.

In reality, it's just racist nonsense designed to feed a Daily Mail headline. The trouble is it still finds an audience and that means Labour getting asked stupid questions like how many more immigrants do you want and wrapping it up with "don't you want better pay for careworkers?"

File it under, "we don't need seasonal workers in agriculture - only people who have no faith in Britain think we can't pick our own food" and "we don't need doctors and dentists - we've got Google and a pair of pliers."
Don't forget "we'll fix the NHS in fifteen years, honest, and we definitely won't fall behind our targets or go over budget like every other long term plan we've proposed. More sawdust porridge?"

Not only is it an absolutely horrid, hate brewing remark, but it's also utterly crap "banter". Can we go back to 2005? At least back then the shit stirring was decent and politicians were held to account when they made comments like this.

Veteran Labour MP Dennis Skinner was ordered out of the Commons this morning, after raising allegations of cocaine use and the shadow chancellor, George Osborne.

In an otherwise mundane session of Treasury questions in the chamber, the 72-year-old MP, the member for Bolsover for more than 35 years, questioned high unemployment under the Tories in the 1980s before suddenly declaring: "The only thing that was growing then were the lines of coke in front of boy George and the rest of the Tories."

That referred to tabloid allegations, which showed a young Mr Osborne in the company of a prostitute and what she claimed was a line of cocaine.

Asked to withdraw the remarks by the speaker, Mr Skinner refused and was told to leave the chamber.

He shouted "It's true!" as he left, adding: "That was in the News of the World and you know it."

absolute cnut. See someone try doing the same joke about blackface and see how it goes. It’s rank that these jokes are still made in society about trans issues but when it’s the politicians leading the country…ffs.

I thought transphobia was meant to be against the law? I'm assuming it isn't anymore since the Home Secretary seems to think it's ok.

You would think given they are in a workplace it would be. Presumably somebody would need to report her under the Equalities Act though.

To be fair to the oily twat, and I can't think of any good reason why I should be, the guy got duped into saying "up the RA" by some bloke taking advantage of his £87 a pop personalised messages. Dimwit Farage just didn't realise what it meant, read the request out verbatim and pocketed the cash.

There are 6 million people on welfare they should be incentivised to work in care homes some how.
Yeah because you really want to force someone unqualified and who resents working there looking after Grandma.

Carers should be a well paid, highly qualified and regularly assessed profession, its a vital part of society that, potentially, will impact us all at somepoint. Sadly the government and many voters are too short sighted (or rich) to bother.

By ‘welfare’ are you meaning UC?

If so then about 45% are already in work. Many will have physical disabilities which don’t help with care work, and many will be caters themselves, on ‘welfare’ so they can care for relatives.

This nonsense rhetoric that we can just fill gaps an in incredibly nuanced and skilled sector doesn’t hold up to the even the slightest of scrutiny.

To look at people who come here to earn a living caring for others and effectively suggesting you’d rather people left in their own excrement, than be cared for professionally by someone who wasn’t born here - the most base example of racism I can think of.

May is very much an architect of all this hatred. Her "Go Home" vans were just ten years ago, she was wrapped up in all that 'enemies of the people' nonsense and happily fuelled hysteria around BREXIT. For all those people cheering her kicking Johnson when he was down, don't forget she appointed him foreign secretary knowing what an awful, deceitful piece of shit he was. She only pretends otherwise because it came back to bite her on the arse.

I know. She's an odious hag but the party is to the right of her, which is fecking scary.

I'm not one to defend Tory PM's and especially not May.

But we need to consider the structure of the Tory party. Many of their members are twisted and in sects. One of the biggest and most influential sects in the party are the bigoted extreme right wingers. If any Tory leader wants to stay as leader they have to pacify their rabble.

Not excusing it, just explaining it.

No, I don't think care is a vocation that people should not be forced to take up for one. The vast majority of the people on UC are on it for a good reason for another. I'm talking about 50p Lee's plan. I personally think it's crazy.

I'm as pro European as the next person and wish that we hadn't made our country toxic to the wonderful people who used to work in our care sector and NHS. Since we have we need to get qualified people from further afield to fill the positions.

Lee Andersen is one of the most repugnant people we have ever voted into parliament and that says something with the rest of the shower he sits next to.

And yet your recycling his talking points?

I don't know why I bother listening to PMQs as I always basically end up both saddened and enraged, but I did listen today again, and one of the final "questions" by a conservative MP was [almost literally] "can you explain why every single Labour government since WWII has ended in economic failure with Sterling weaker and unemployment usually higher". I mean, come on you fecking cnut, what is even the point of these sessions if this bullshit is allowed? And to make matters worse, the very next question by a Labour MP was "answered" with a "that's not even a question, just a rant". So fecking infuriating.

There is an email doing the rounds on Twitter and trending ahead of George Osbourne’s wedding on Saturday. Alleging all sorts of things. Don’t want to post it here due to the nature of it but it’s on Twitter.
