Harry Kane | Signs for Bayern

Still can’t believe he didn’t wait until next season.
And can’t believe Bayern paid that to buyout a one year contract.

FC Bayern president Herbert Hainer:
"Welcome to Munich, Harry Kane! We’re very happy about this top-quality new arrival. The transfer required tenacity, bite and perseverance - my compliments to all those involved in these negotiations at FC Bayern, led by our CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen. Harry Kane will not only strengthen FC Bayern, but also be a real asset to the entire Bundesliga.”

FC Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen:
"It’s been a long process, but now we’re all the happier that Harry Kane will be wearing the Bayern Munich shirt with immediate effect. Harry Kane was our absolute dream player right from the start. He is a perfect fit for us and the club's DNA in terms of both football and character. World-class centre forwards have always been an important factor when FC Bayern has celebrated its greatest triumphs, and we’re convinced that Harry Kane will continue this success story. Our fans can look forward to one of the best goalscorers of our time."

Harry Kane:
"I’m very happy to be a part of FC Bayern now. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world, and I’ve always said that I want to compete and prove myself at the highest level during my career. This club is defined by its winning mentality - it feels very good to be here."

Shirt numbers are getting ridiculous, how big is their squad?

Great move for Kane.

For Bayern... it's quite a statement. Paying this kind of money for a 30-year-old who never stepped out of his comfort zone before is a big risk. But I suppose they can afford it and they have the squad to make the most of him.

Can't believe he's actually gone.

Could see Spurs being bottom half of the table or worse. The entire club is built around him.

Fair play to him for taking on the challenge of moving to another league in a club where the spotlight is always on you and there’s always pressure on you (albeit a different sort of pressure perhaps).

4 years contract there. Hope he could win everything there plus a CL.

Disappointed that we didn't end up signing him, would've been transformative for us. But not bad that he's in Munich and can help him potentially win a UCL.

Yeah so crazy a 30 year didn’t want to waste a precious full season of his prime.

Be interesting to see if he breaks any of the single season scoring records in the Bundesliga. Lewandowski holds the current one with 41.

Fantastic striker and great move for him.

I reckon a 40 goal season is incoming in all competitions as long as he doesn't have any major injuries. The Lewandowski Bundesliga record will be tough though.

Not a fan of his career decisions at all. That stupid 6 year contract at Spurs and now this completely uninteresting move to Bayern.

What would have been an interesting career move?

I mean, had he joined, say, FC Zhenis in the Kazakh second division, that certainly would have been an interesting move. But I don't think you mean something like that.

Class. Notice how he thanks everyone from the kitman to the coach. Spurs held him down for years yet he stayed and gave them 100m when he left at 30 years of age.
Meanwhile a certain free agent was so bitter he only thanked Sir Alex and the fan, although the club pampered him for years and he cost the club several titles.

Kane is a prime example of how not to manage your career. Signing daft contracts and being owned by Daniel Levy.

It’s a good move for him; he’ll win silverware. But he should be doing this in the Premier League.

He can’t afford to waste another year at his prime, so this option is the least worst one.

Massive signing for Bayern and the Bundesliga. As long as he stays fit expect Kane to be a big hit over there. One of the best strikers in the World for almost a decade now.

Tough times for the Bundesliga “competition”, next four years no one else will come close to challenge Bayern. They’ve addressed their main weakness from last season on the domestic front, and I expect Kane to put up Lewandowski-like numbers, so 150-200 goals over the course of the contract, obviously barring injury issues.

Great move for all parties involved, though in Kane shoes I would have waited another year and pocketed some of the money myself.

So if the BL is as soft as some of you like to claim, how many goals will a striker who constantly topped the PL (pre-Haaland) charts, score in it?

Put your numbers up.

Fair play to him, the easy thing to do would've been to stay in England at Spurs and keep all the Great Bri'ish pundits happy, but instead he's proved a lot of people wrong and moved country for the chance at some silverware. Granted the Bundesliga is what it is in terms of overall quality but you can't do much better than Bayern on a European club level, I hope it goes well for him.

Think he should have waited the year, but impressed with him actually doing it and leaving the PL. I think he'll score buckets of goals for them.

30-35 goals without injuries.

So what's the German for "we press, we aggressive, fecking chances, goals, and we fecking kill ’em man, we fecking qualify today lads, we fecking qualify"?

Other than City and Real (neither of whom were options) they’re as safe a bet for big trophies as you can get. Anyone who thinks he should’ve waited a year for us or Liverpool… I mean he’s hardly guaranteed trophies at either. Clearly after not winning any in his career he just wants some to his name rather than a meaningless PL goals record. Fair fecks to him.
