This and the sprint race on RB Ring (so 2 of the 3 sprints so far) has produced some of the best racing of the entire season.

I'm increasingly starting to wonder what Pirelli has done to become the tyre supplier of choice for F1 for all this time, and they just renewed it as well. At least bring back another choice to spice things up a bit strategy wise.
I agree, needs another manufacturer to step in, Bridgestone did it years ago, but I think the US GP quite a few years ago, did not help them.
In an era of cost caps, F1 will not go back to multiple tyre suppliers.

I assume everyone will be on the same strategy and pit within a lap of each other given most of them have the same tyre allocations available. Still will be interesting who can get the most out of their tyres.
See I'm conflicted about statements like this. F1 was more exclusive of a sport back in the 90s for instance when the larger scale attention to the sport was mostly confined to Europe and obviously track selection was more limited to said continent as well. I grew up watching the sport with my grandfather and it was very much seen as golf pre Tiger Woods to a degree. At least that's how I saw it. A glamour club of white "gentlemen" surrounded by wealthy sponsors and team bosses and then throw in things like pit "kittens" to complete the picture.
What it does feel it did better was having more drivers come in who didn't necessarily bring in huge money bags and tracks chosen were also based on how good they are for racing and not just for location and money making purposes alone. Going to a race also felt more accessible to the working class so to speak.

To be fair, when everything is pretty much done, I am not even mad they are testing something else, but it would be better if they removed DRS and stuff like that, I don't see what 3 pitstops will bring.

Yes I agree. And my congratulations to Max as well. Not my favourite driver. But despite his car and his team being absolutely phenomenal, he still should be appreciated for being a top top racing driver. Fully deserved this year.

Yes and extra penalties as well for breaking curfew and working on the car when they shouldnt.
Like Williams last time around, sounds like the car was so severely damaged they basically had to build up a new chassis. I presume teams knowingly take the penalty in those cases instead of not being able to race at all.
Idiotic to be handing out penalties for repairing damage sustained in a stupid side show.
Imagine this was 2021 and George Russell torpedoed Lewis/Max at the start of a sprint race, damages their car beyond repair, then they take the double hit of having to start from the pit lane in the GP where they originally qualified on pole. Would be utterly farcical.

Not really, since the rules around car repairs and parc ferme were developed based on a standard race weekend. If you crash in qualifying it's your own fault, and if that affects where you start in the grand prix then obviously that's a fair consequence.
If you qualify well on Friday during a sprint weekend, then some clown side swipes you in the sprint race and you total your car, why should that also inevitably ruin your chances in the grand prix?
Shouldnt take much imagination at all to see why this is moronic and that at some point it'll happen in a way that will cause massive controversy, especially if they keep adding sprint weekends.
Sounds like Sainz won't be starting this race.
