In this day and age, if the Italian Police and Authority cannot manage to protect the safety of foreign football fans from harm before and after a match, the Italians should be totally banned from playing European competition altogether!

Of course fans attending should always be taking care of themselves. But such warning sounds so serious and if it deters foreign fans from going to the game, we will be asking what sort of Police Force they are having if they cant even contain the situation with sufficient information well before-hand without controlling foreign fans movement?!

Italy should be thrown out of Europe if they cant do their job in crowd and safety control! And why cant Roma be warned they would be thrown out of the competition if their fans, ultras or not, caused trouble? That will certainly deter their fans' impending action, no?!!

Morons. I just can't fathom why so called football fans would want to beat the shit out of the rival supporters. Members of these firms are no more interested in football than my feckin granny. I wouldn't call them cowards, they're not scared of violence or the consequences of what they do. Instead I would call them cnuts, but not to their faces obviously as I'd probably get stabbed.
 
Definitely not cowards. I predict the same sort of violence that occured last year when Boro played them. I have never been one to believe the Italian police are genuine. I've been to Italy a few times now, and any time I required their help they almost laughed at me. They don't give a flying feck about our traveling fans, and if there are injuries, stabbings or even deaths, the police will wash their hands and say there was nothing they could do.

Like posted above, it is down to the fotball governing bodies to lay down the law on this bullshit, and if there is a hint of trouble that Roma get banned. Then you'd really see the club taking this problem by the horns.

Your right man the club and Uefa need to sort it out. If they keep acting in such a manner the club should decide by themselves to even play behind closed doors at home as a form of punishment. They obviously wont as they will lose funds from the gate receipts. If they did do such a thing it would show a real signal of intent that such things will not be tolerated.

What does it take for Roma/Italian teams to be banned from Europe? Deaths? There have been numerous stabbings of travelling fans there in the last few years, UEFA must be waiting for someone to die.

I had tickets but due to work commitments and spiraling flight prices, I decided to leave it.

The main difference is that if you want to be an innocent fan at a game in England, it is extremely rare that you will wind up in trouble, however you can be minding your own business abroad, and some soppy cnut will come and stab you... hardly fair game, any lad who is worth his salt would never rumble with someone who didn't want to know, this makes the Italians wankers and cowards of the highest order.

BBC now reporting that there were skirmishes prior to the match, 7 injured and one being stabbed. No word on their nationality.
