The bad (typically gun related) things happening in America thread

   Apparently someone shot a flare gun out of the house and then started shooting at the cops when they arrived before it exploded.

Unclear if Philadelphia PD was in the area at the time.

That was Arlington, Virginia. I don't know how nor why Philly PD would be there when that's more of a job for DCPD nearby.

There have been at least 80 school shootings in the United States so far this year, as of December 6, more than in any year since 2008, when CNN began tracking shootings. Twenty-nine of those were on college campuses and the remaining 51 were on K-12 school grounds. The incidents have left at least 37 people dead and more than 88 injured, according to CNN’s analysis of events reported by the Gun Violence Archive, Education Week, and Everytown for Gun Safety.

This is America

That's made me cry. Absolutely fecking disgusting. An entire nation of children having to learn that. He should be making hand paintings and playing on climbing frames not learning how to save his own life due to a percentage of the population that are selfish, ignorant and moronic pricks who refuse to give up their guns.... Cos... Merikkka :(

My little cousin is the same age as that kid, his biggest concern in life right now is to swap stickers with his schools friends to finish is new panini sticker book. It must be hell for parents to even have to teach that stuff to their kids.

Horrific video with the little kid.
Just to slightly lighten the mood The Wisconsin News are reporting that a woman who took a handgun into hospital where she was having an MRI was shot in the ass by her own gun. She had answered negatively when asked if she had anything iron prior to the MRI.
Apparently the gun reacted to the powerful magnet in the machine , fired and the bullet struck her in the buttocks.
The wound is said to be healing well.
Her brain however ………..

I thought it hit her brain, it did hit her in the ass right?

It's not happening in America, but it involves a US Navy officer in Japan being handed in American custody after serving time in a Japanese prison. Seriously, I say he was right where he belonged for his crime.

Such negligence should not allow you to not serve prison time in the jurisdiction where the crime happened, even if you wear the uniform.

On the flip side, keeping people in prison is expensive, so they're probaby saying, feck this you can pay for this one, I understand this is not unusual

Was anyone following the Hannah Payne trial?

Summary: In 2019- a motorist (Kenneth Herring) ran a red light and had a minor crash with another driver. 911 were called and he fled the scene (he did so as a medical emergency- it turns out he was going through a diabetic shock which is why he ran the red in the first place).

This woman, Hannah Payne, (she wasn’t actually involved in the crash she was just there) thought he was a drunk driver and decided to play Cop and followed him, called 911 to say she was following him and continued to even several times after the dispatcher told her not to (so basically George Zimmerman all over again). She blocked his car off with hers once she caught up to him, walked up to his window and demanded he get out they had a back and forth before she eventual shot him in the stomach through his window.

Anyway the trial was this week. She tried to claim self-defence by saying he rammed her car and tried to grab the gun from her, but there were witnesses who all testified that she was the aggressor (also, there’s a NSFW clip of the shooting circulating on twitter which was filmed by another motorist who was there). And there was no DNA evidence or anything that he tried to grab her gun or evidence that he attempted to ram her car.
She got found guilty on all counts and sentenced to life without* parole :D

edit: *sorry it was life WITH the possibility of parole. Still happy with the outcome anyway.

I had not heard about that case, but good to hear that justice was served. Also, it was not at all surprising to learn the who of the two was white, and who was black.

Her character reference (a coworker) took to the stand to say it couldn’t have been racially motivated because Hannah was currently dating a Hispanic man and dated black guys in high school :lol::lol:

Stumbled onto this last night when bored off my ass during the Giants/Eagles game. Well worth a watch if not yet seen. It details a couple cases of innocent persons convicted, how corruption puts people into prison at alarming rates, the prison for profit industry, and so forth.
