Yes it was good deal for Australia, nothing in it for the UK. The EU have signed a much better deal with NZ than the UK did but the Australia/EU discussions collapsed a few months ago.
Had been shipping to Australia since the early 90s and it was the most pain in the a*se country to ship to after India. Especially as the UK love red tape so much.
The UK are/were desperate for anything and have now got their hopes pinned on the CPTPP and India which will be worthless to them. These countries want to sell to the UK not buy from them.
It’s somewhat ironic that the U.K. go cap in hand to India begging them to buy their products after what colonial Britain did to that region
Yes, but the Brexit mob like Mogg and co., because of their exceptionalism, think they these 'developping countries' are interested in buying British products. What has the UK got that they want to buy? If they want and can afford 'western goods' they'll buy from nearer to home like Japan or Australia plus they want to develop their own industries, which is why they are called developping countries.
So the Brexit mob - first started shouting WTO WTO WTO, then it was No Deal No Deal No Deal and now Its CPTPP CPTPP CPTPP , not having a clue what the consequences of this was and believing all the bs from people like Mogg, Truss, Widdecombe , Badenoch -the list goes on.
One day reality will hit although they won't admit it.

Plans unveiled by the Business Secretary include proposals to remove regulations that make it hard for pubs, restaurants and cafes to get permission to serve customers outside.
Pubs could also be given the automatic right to sell takeaway pints. Temporary allowances were granted during the pandemic but are due to expire next year.
Yesterday's package will also loosen some regulations on gambling, including allowing bingo halls to install fruit machines.
And the official definition of a medium-sized business will be doubled to those with 500 employees, removing thousands of smaller firms from onerous red tape, such as the requirement to publish 'strategic reports'.
Small firms like cafes and corner shops could be permitted to 'self-certify' for some functions, meaning they would not be 'subjected to needless inspections or mandatory training courses' before they can serve customers.
Mrs Badenoch is also introducing a Whitehall principle that extra regulations should only be imposed when 'absolutely necessary'.
And regulators will be given a new 'growth duty' requiring them to show that they are helping firms to grow 'at every opportunity'.
She said a regulation programme introduced in the wake of Brexit had already cut 50million hours of business admin per year, saving firms an estimated £1billion.
'This Government is seizing the benefits of Brexit by reducing burdens on business, pushing down the cost of living, and driving growth in every corner of the economy,' Mrs Badenoch said.
'These reforms will give entrepreneurial businesses more opportunity to innovate, experiment, and capitalise on the UK's global leadership in key sectors.'
Business leaders welcomed the news.
Tina McKenzie, of the Federation of Small Businesses, said that smaller firms 'suffer more' from badly designed rules and 'contradictory regulatory requirements'.
She added: 'We're especially pleased that the Government has adopted the principle of regulating as a last resort, instead of as a first response.

with guys as clearly switched on as Jim economically I simply don’t believe they were genuine in their vocal support for Brexit as a good move for the country. For whatever reason business or personal he felt it suited him and that’s it. There’s no way someone could look at the situation and not see a glaring hole that would need to be filled by more migrants
In my experience it wasn't the owners of companies but the team behind them that determined the success of the company.
Brexit for him was about taxes and probably personal.

He doesn't live in the real world that's why. He's got so much money and has done for so long that he's not had a normal life. Just another rich dude in his ivory tower telling the normies how to live.
He lives in the real world, he lives in the realest of worlds. As @horsechoker said, the likes of Ratcliffe's goal was to control regulations and it's easier to do when you only have to lobby one government/parliament than with a structure like the EU.
