Saw this in reddit. From a Feyenoord fan on his style of play. First line reads like he has a similar style to Klopp. I think that is what they are aiming for.
For the Feyenoord / Dutch guys, how’s his time there viewed in comparison to someone like GvB who also won the league there?

As much as we rinse Pool on here, you are a much bigger draw than Villa for a manager. I do get he's in the ascendancy at Villa though and it will be hard to follow Klopp. Emery didn't do that badly at Arsenal, they had that period where he went over half the season unbeaten, I think the language barrier which seems to have gone now was the issue and we know it was a bad dressing room given it took Arteta a few years to really purge it.
Will be interesting to see with Slot, maybe it will be a season where there's a lot of leniency and understanding if things don't go amazingly given how long Klopp was there but obviously we hope he's awful.
Leverkusen are nothing like Leicester 15/16.
They are unbeaten all season and on course to win a treble.
He is much better than Van Bronckhorst I think. Before going to Feyenoord he almost won the league with AZ. At Feyenoord he transformed the club and playing style in a very short time.
If you're gonna equal a successful hire with filling the Klopp void then there is no one suited for the job.

GvB was mostly carried bij Dirk Kuyt's final wish to become champion with Feyenoord. Slot had to rebuild a new team with relatively cheap players and actually make Feyenoord fun to watch but it has to be said many points were taken in ridiculous amounts of extra time so in that way a perfect match with Liverpool.

Well, yeah. The Leicester story is far more impressive.
Leverkusen have been somewhere between 2nd and 6th in their league for decades with the occasional drop below that. They've played in the CL for years.
Leicester spent most of the decade before their title languishing in the Championship, barely avoided relegation in their first season back and won the title the next.
The point isn't which team had/is having the better season. Just that the sample size to make judgements on Alonso's quality is a bit limited. He's deservedly receiving immense amount of praise right now. But we can hardly extrapolate his achievements so far to other clubs and expect him to perform just as well.

The fact I was excited for Ten Hag is also another reason I’d be incredibly weary of being excited for this bloke! The step up is massive, and Ten Hag didn’t have the step up Slot will have because we’ve been shit for a decade.
He deserves a shot at the top level, though who knows how he'll do. I like him far better than Ten Hag personally, because he doesn't have the wooden numpty social skills of Erik (obviously I'm biased).

Winning the ecc with Roma isnt really am achievement. Their striker is worth more than the entire team Slot fielded against him.

Everything I’m hearing about Slot is what we heard about ETH before he came to Utd, modern, attacking and possession based football etc, which doesn’t seem to hard to achieve in the Dutch league.

I think Edwards is basically using the numbers to try to fit the coach to the squad as accurately as he can - because they don’t fancy spending another £300m to completely re-fit the squad to play a completely new style.
Slot‘s wagon-wheel is essentially an identikit to what klopp /lijnders were doing a couple of years ago, looking at the diagrams posted by the athletic. Amorim despite the different formation was also similar - as was Alonso’s at sociedad B.
The Portuguese papers are saying Amorim wants full control of transfers which he isn’t getting under Edwards explaining why he’s gone from odd-on to bottom of the list following their meeting (looks like a very similar outcome now happening after his talks with Tim Steidten at West Ham).
Hopefully he gets smashed 7-0 by rivals and gets - goal difference, having a host of embarrassing results and have zero control of any match while spending 100s of millions and in the meantime this being accepted by the media and a large chunk of their fanbase.
The difference is that EtH did it with by far the best squad in the country, (at least at the time) best management setup in the country and the biggest financial resources. Slot does it with a much smaller budget, which should be roughly comparable to Liverpool's still limited spending power. Slot joining Liverpool would in the context of the league be like EtH joining City. Yeah, sadly I think this might be the case. Liverpool to their credit made progress under Brenda post the Hodgson horror show and then followed that up by signing Klopp. While Slot isn't in the same mould as Klopp and has won considerably less, his style is actually suited to how Liverpool already play - unlike Ten Hag's Ajax and United ever were.
Can see him doing very well at Liverpool.
Not sure which media you're speaking about, but Ten Hag has been under the cosh since we won the Carling Cup last year and arguably since we signed Anthony for 80m. No Manchester United manager has or ever will be accepted by the media.
I hope they do get Slot, I just don’t think he’ll do it in the prem. there’s something about Dutch managers. Has there ever been a successful Dutch manager in the prem? I can’t remember one.
Hiddink did alright in his various caretaker stints at Chelsea. Martin Jol wasn't too bad at Spurs either.

I think they underestimate the league. It’s nothing like the Dutch league. Which is surprising because the Dutch are known for playing good attacking football, similar to the Germans. They like to press high.
I mean our previous Dutch manager didn't exactly set OT alight with displays of thrilling attacking football, and the current one seems to have made our team allergic to creating chances. But yes, I don't think the Eredivisie -> PL transition for these managers has been a particularly successful one.

This is hilarious, am seeing in real time Scousers who were aghast at his potential appointment initially suddenly becoming experts in Dutch football and how, ackshully, it's a shrewd approach by them - truly great to see, they are fecked imo.
