I actually don't think the pass was that good, it should have been played ahead of Garnacho so he could run onto it and be straight through on goal. The pass left Garnacho a lot to do and gave the defender a chance to get back at him.

Park Ji-Sung played in centre midfield as well. I’d argue that we’ve been shit in midfield ever since Keane left.

Carrick, Park, Fletcher, Giggs (later on), Scholes, Herrera, Rooney (later on), Matic, Fred was decent towards the end in a more attacking role - same as Fellaini.

I think our midfield has been fine overall. It was never an elite level midfield, even under Fergie.
We've seen a huge transition from 4-4-2 which only needs 2 CM's to 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 which needs 3 CM's too. We've never needed to find 2 Deeper CM's until 2011ish onward since these formations become more common.
