Tuesday 24th April 7.45pm Old Trafford

Wahey, I've beat the kids to it.

I reckon 1-1.

Fill your boots children.

We need to win to get the advantage for the second leg.

Also if we make it very nervous for Ronaldo and Scholes (Imagine him missing another final :() getting booked in second leg.

 Who do you refer to as kids?

Btw, don't you think there should be at least some info about avenue, kick-off time, date etc?

Shit match-day thread. Sack Fergie, burn OT.

The kids are the ones that scramble to be the first to post pictures of club badges at the top of the thread in some bizarre playground style testosterone contest....anyway I won ho ho.

As for the info on the match...if this website is peoples first port of call for information on United then we're all fecked.

Just post your prediction and be happy I've spared you the agro.

1-1 then.

I'm no psychic, but I cannae see us winning the Champ's league and I suspect it will be our reason for fecking up the league.

Out: Neville, Rio, Vidic, Silvestre, Cathcart, Richardson, Park, Saha

Ronaldo------Scholes------------------Carrick------Giggs
--------------Rooney------------------Smith------------

Subs: Kuszczak, Lee, N´Galula, Fletcher, Eagles, Solskjaer, Dong

You people are a bunch of feckin lunatics!! A makeshift, patchwork defence and youve got Scholes down as a CM trying to protect them in a ECL match!?!?!!

Seriously what planet are all of you on!!!???

I don't really know how to play this game. Do we go cagey and try to keep a clean sheet with a makeshift back four? Or do we go all out attack and try and get a hat full of goals?

Do we risk playing Scholes and watching him pick up a suspension that will rule him out of the final? What do we do with Kaka?

Personally, you'll hate me for saying it... i'd play 4-5-1.

------------------------Van Der Sar---------------------
O´Shea-------Brown-------------------Heinze------Evra(hopefully fit)
Ronnie--------Fletcher-----Giggs-----Carrick------Rooney
--------------------------Smith-------------------------

Keep Scholes on the bench. Give him a rest for the weekend and protect him from another booking. That team should give us enough cover, with Fletcher ghosting Kaka and keeping him quiet while allowing Carrick to protect the back four and spring the ball out quickly to our danger men. Giggs would take up the free role and join the attack.

What we simply cannot do is play Scholes and Carrick infront of that defense. It would be suicide.

If Rooney and Giggs had both gone forward, thats on massive gap on the left, but AC Milan tend to plow through the middle rather than going wide. If we get a result against AC Milan on Tuesday i'd call that the best result of the season, espically if we keep a clean sheet.

Definitely - if this seasons ECL competition has shown us anything its that teams that nick away goals tend to go through....

:smirk: Our bench is really shit atm, is Cathcart even fit? We can't even fill out the bench ffs.

To be fair Fletcher has been fecking everywhere in his last few games for us. He's the fittest bloke in the squad without a doubt.

Rights lads

The Youth Cup Final is on Thursday though, so I don't know how many of them will join up with the first team on Tuesday

I can also see us getting tonked here, but got to think positive, eh?

Id personally think about leaving out either Smith or Giggs and because i cant decide which i wont be posting a team this time around. 1 thing i would say is we have to play Fletch in center midfield and tell him to go and do a Roma job again

No idea what the score will be either, if Rio was playing then id say we'd win but with no Rio i fear the rest of the team will worry more about the defence than the attack

feck knows whats going to happen in this game is the point im trying to make

1. Where´s Scholesy.

2. Cathcart and Richardson are injured.

3. 2 GK´s on the bench. la la la

Any of you who think Paul Scholes wont play this game need a kick in the fecking balls.

Best passer of the ball in the team, why would you leave him out?

Cos you think he aint that good defensivly?

The advantages of having Scholes in the team far far outway the disadvantages.

Wrong, wrong and wrong....... in the ECL at least.

The key point is that without Scholes we still have plenty of creativity on the pitch - and lets be honest Fletch although mostly hailed for his defensive has some really quite decent short-medium range passing.

With Scholes as one of our CMs our defensive ability goes into freefall in Europe - the shit he gets away with in the EPL he never does in the ECL. He has an especially worrying habit of giving freekicks away on the edge of the box - im sure Kaka, Pirlo and Seedorf will all appreciate those chances from 25yds....

These days success in Europe is all about not conceeding - especially at home. Scholes Im afraid can hinder that philosophy significantly, which considering our defensive crisis is really the last thing we need.

This isnt a bizarre Scholes bashing thread - the guys a legend - merely saying that he is an accident waiting to happen in the ECL. If we get a suitable result on Tuesday night then maybe start him in the away leg but if we have any chance of proceeding we must keep a clean sheet at home.

I hope he proves you wrong but i sorta agree with your premise. Carrick and Fletcher seem to be the right answer against AC milan. of course scholsey might get a hatrick and we will all be singing his name

Well what do you suggest? It's hard to even fill the bench with fit players.

Maybe, but seeing as Scholes wasn't in your team surely he's a shout to have on the bench

And lets make a further point, say Scholes gets a yelow 20 mins into the match, this reduces our defensive ability even further as Scholes getting sent off will be the final straw.

I hate to say it but - Scholes starts on Tues = MUFC cocede at least 1 away goal.
