We're talking about you being up the moderator's arses every time they breathe, having been here for six months.

I was actually a part of the decision making process about the new newbie rules, and continue to be involved in implementing that policy. Somehow that makes me think that I've got a right to comment on it without being an annoying self-important prat.

Smith had good form when RVN was out and scored vital goals, but he was never EVER a natural goalscorer. And he never will be. That's not because of playing in central midfield or because of injuries. He just isn't that kind of player who is going to take the one chance that comes his way and win you match after match.

He's the Rooney type player who will help create chances and score goals here and there, but he is not a natural finisher thats for damn sure.

he is not a poacher , but he is most definitely a natural goal scorer.

Natural finisher = Ruud, Shearer, Raul, Ronaldo (Ex-fat), Henry, Eto'o

Not a natural finisher = Rooney, Saha, Smith

I mean that no matter how good he gets and no matter if he scores 20 or 30 goals in a season, he's still going to miss sitters now and again and finish poorly a third of the time. It doesn't come naturally to them and sometimes when it goes wrong they use some god awful technique.

well i dont believe in relying on poachers , i'd rather be the highest scoring team with 17 different scorers (like we were) rather than be like the old fiorentina or newcastle and be carried on the back of a quality striker.

I'm sorry, when I see him go through one on one I consider it a goal. With Rooney, Saha and Smith it always remains to be seen. I consider Eto'o a natural finisher.

football has ts definitions already, consider checking out the definitions of all types of forwards/strikers out there, you terminology is a bit off.

I'm one of the people who have newbie rights and promote people. There's 10 or so of us. There are a dozen mods. We work with the mods to help everything run smoothly, and promote/ban newbies.

It is not a modship, I can't ban anyone or change their taglines.

Mind you, noodle can't find his admin password, so he can't either. :D

Brad is upset because he is an authority on RedCafe, as well as being an attention seeking self-absorbed prat.

I'm a hypocrite because I discuss things I'm actually involved in, whilst telling Prad to shut up when he second guesses the mods every move.

He adores taking threads off topic to discuss how special he is.

Boss pleased with Nani debut

Sir Alex Ferguson was pleased with new signing Nani's scoring debut as the Reds hit Shenzhen FC for six on Monday.

The Portuguese winger was one of half a dozen goalscorers as the Reds cruised to a 6-0 win at the Macau Stadium in the third and penultimate match of United's four-game Asia Tour.

"[One game and one goal], it's a ratio that I hope he keeps going," :lol: Sir Alex told MUTV. "He did very well. It was his first game after an injury, but I was pleased."

Sir Alex used 19 players in total during the match, a sign that the entire squad is benfitting from minutes on the pitch. "I wanted to use as many players as I can," he said. "It's an exercise in getting everyone fit, that's what pre-season tours are about.

"We were able to do that, in the second half I brought on seven players which was good. Everyone had a share of the action. In the final game I will hopefully be able to give the likes of Phil Bardsley, Danny Simpson and Dong Fangzhuo more football.
"I thought young Darron Gibson, who has been out injured, did well in midfield. It shows the judgement in bringing him to the club, it's good to see the results of our scouting missions."

Although Shenzhen offered very little in the way of resistence, the humidity in Macau was difficult to deal with. "We found it a bit difficult at times in the heat," added the boss. "The humidity was very high but, nonetheless, goals are goals and some of them were very good.

"In the first match there was a bit of rustiness, which is natural in your first game back. But in the last two games (against FC Seoul and Shenzhen) we've not looked like conceding."

No mention of Smith in the last game... think he may have played his last from the reports I read during the match!
 
Is Hargreaves still having problems?

I think Fergie didn't mention Smith just because so far he's played every game, so it is hardly going to be a surprise if he plays again.

Damn. I hope he ends up ready for the start of the season, I'm hoping to see Carrick-Hargreaves against Reading since Scholes will probably be out.

Mind you, Gibson was ok today.

My problem with you is that you tell people to wind their necks in when they comment, but somehow this doesn't apply to you, despite you having no more authority than anyone else. I do have one thought on the game to share, Nani's celebration. He seemed to grimace as he landed. I wouldn't mind at all if Fergie told him to cut that out, seems like a needless risking of injury for me
 
Seems like Smith is gone. Can't miss an easy shot when your ass is on the line. I'll miss his passion - not so much his play.

Unfortunately for Alan Smith, whose future appears inextricably linked to United's attempt to sign Carlos Tevez, a failure to convert a golden opportunity 15 minutes from time will not have done much to convince Ferguson he can be an effective performer for the Red Devils this term.
