You're the one who had a problem with us expressing our opinions.
Calm down, eh.
What? You mean calling everyone that has a different opinion a muppet?

They are a great pairing and Rio is a great defender but better than Baresi, Nesta, Stam, Mcgrath, Sammer, Blanc, Hierro and Ayala at their best? No chance.
Well that is the great thing about sport. We can argue forever without a definitive answer.
Few defenders would look as "world class" as they did in the United defense given how attack minded we are.
Stam wasn't a patch on Rio but looked good because his speed and blood and guts approach looked great. A great defender before his injury mind.
Most of the other defenders you mention operated in a much slower and better protected environment so who can say.
I rate Rio up there with the best TBH
My opinion is that you're a muppet.
RIP Jermaine Stewart.
Wibble and jason why do you consider someone a muppet if he has a negative comment/opinion? I mean not everybody can see the glass as half full. Right? And Giggs as a second striker is not working and this is not an exaggeration, or is it?![]()
People should get behind the shirt even if we are playing badly. Screaming doom and gloom when SAF plays players in unfamiliar positions due to injury is another fair sign of muppetry.
The idea that some juvenile idiot knows better, with no knowledge of the injury situation etc, is laughable and the sheer arrogance of people who think they do know better that SAF is gobsmacking.

That's right. As for Stam, I think you're being a bit disingenuous.
Fair enough its your opinion but you won't find many people putting Rio ahead of the players I named and I dare say nobody outside of united fans will agree with you.
Spoony when are you starting a religion?
I loved him, particularly in 99 but after his injury it was apparent that he wasn't a defender from the top draw but compensated with physicality and speed to make up for his mistakes. After he returned from injury he wasn't the same player and I think SAF made a correct and courageous decision selling him. We could have replaced him better mind.

Spoonism?
He was a shot stopper, but a brilliant one. Agree about the loss in pace, but I still think it was a mistake to sell him. He was never really replaced, as Blanc was initially penned into to partner him.
I think Rio is easily up there with Ayala, Blanc and Hierro.

Was that for me or was it general? Also does that mean that I should be at least 20 years old in order to express my opinion? I thought that a forum is a place where people exchange their opinions in order for a nice discussion to take place, of course everything should have boundaries. Now you are telling me that expressing a negative opinion makes me a muppet and less of a United fan? Sir Alex is one of THE BEST managers in the world, alive or not, but he is a human being and he can be stubborn at times or make a mistake. Pointing that out shouldn't make you less of a United fan but it should start a discussion. I thought that was the purpose of a forum.

Definitely in general and possibly in specific. TBH I can't remember what you said.
I do however have a problem with the mindless drop of the hat negativity that seems common amongst younger fans these days who seem unable to support united when we aren't winning.
Within reason opinions are a personal thing. However I am also allowed to hold the opinion that some opinions aren't worth a pair of fetid donkey's kidneys.
If that's the case, in the 2 years before last season United must have lost many supporters... Not every foreign fan is a glory hunter and not every fan that has a negative opinion won't get behind team and support it.

We didn't lose very much at all last season.
What I am talking about is ludicrously ill informed comment such a criticising team selection based on zero knowledge of the injury/fitness/match fitness issues and rubbishing of Ronaldo based on 3 free kicks. People seem to have forgotten how to have an opinion without turning it into melodrama.
This doesn't mean you can't have an opinion that I /we agree with/disagree with but please make it sensible.
