Players In Revolt At Chelsea - Report

The assertion by Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon that the club's players are 100 per cent behind newly apointed manager Avram Grant is in stark contrast to reports in the media that the Chelsea dressing-room is in revolt over the departure of Jose Mourinho and his replacement by the club's erstwhile director of football.

The Sun this morning claims that the players are furious about the events of this week and with the club's decision to name Grant as their new boss.

The newspaper alleges that a "furious row broke out at the team meeting after training yesterday," and that "angry words were exchanged between big-name players as they argued about Grant taking over from Jose Mourinho."

As has already been reported , Didier Drogba, Florent Malouda and Ricardo Carvalho are particularly upset that Mourinho has left. So too, it seems, is defender Ashley Cole.

According to The Sun, afterr training yesterday at the club's Cobham HQ, Chelsea's first team squad had their first group discussion with new manager Grant since Mourinho left the club in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Grant and assistant manager Steve Clarke apparently talked about how to approach Sunday's crucial Premier League clash at Old Trafford against champions Manchester United.

However, that session lasted less than 30 minutes, after which captain John Terry called the players to a private meeting without Grant and Clarke present.

And apparently it was at this meeting that tempers boiled over and several players vented their anger at Mourinho’s departure, The Sun claiming that, "Arguments continued over the course of a stormy 50-minute meeting."

Is hargreeves still out or is there a late fitness test which will determine whether he plays ?

Apparently Terry was a major component in the Mourinho sacking. Wouldn't surprise me one iota if Lampard made it. Drogba has been kicking up a fuss and probably woud say he was injured even if fit.

Tough game. As ever with a new manager it will present a difficult task for us. Our record against Chelsea is abysmal.

We've been largely shit this year, our season needs a kick-start....this has to be it.

If we knock in a few today and with our strikers all fit, we'll go on a proper run.

Marker needs to be put down IMO.

I reckon chelsea will win this one or at the minimum draw it,they'll be a closely nit group and will be up for it.

feck just realised we have the same amount of goals as derby county, can't believe we are last in the list.

I have mixed feelings about this match. We have been playing poorly, but we can absolutely win if we play anywhere near the standard we are capable of. Although I fear the gotta-impress-the-new-manager factor, I think this could go our way for once.

feck it, i'm going to beieve that we will 4-0 today. rooney 2, ronaldo and carrick. i will cry with both joy and frustration - frustration as i havent put money on this and, if i weren't so saintly, i could make lots of cash if i did.

oooh and my team prediction

VDS

Brown
Vidic
Ferdinand
Evra

Giggs
Scholes
Carrick
Ronaldo

Tevez
Rooney

In some kind of strange 4-2-4/4-3-3/4-2-2 formation.

subs - PIG, Pique, Saha, Nani & Me

Even a 1-0 would do today. I would hate to see that result again but a win against them is better than nothing. However, DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE Chelsea today. They could be all fired up and angry as they try to win this one for Mourinho. This match will not be easy by any means at all. What I want to see is us rediscover our form in front of goal again.

United are slowly hitting form, getting vital wins while not playing all too well. Chelsea heve recently been suffering a loss in form and now they have lost their master tactician.

I predict a 2 - 0 scoreline to the homeside.

I agree, but how would that be winning for Mourinho, can't imagine he'd give a feck about Chelsea from now on.

ha - so far so good. i got the team right. now for the goals. best be off, need to go sit on the bench.
