Manchester United vs. Coventry City [Carling Cup]

It's nothing to do with "season over", even if meant sarcastically. I just heard the match on radio - it's simply embarrassing. We should know that the kids are no good. It's more a reflection on English kids being useless than just United's kids.

Arsenal, for example, have numerous FOREIGN kids and they would have steamrollered Coventry had they been playing at the Emirates.

United just seem like a club that have a youth academy because they are obliged to. Most of them will simply disappear into League oblivion.

Just embarrassing...the youth scouts have much to answer for.

You know, I laughed at Escobar's sarcasm, but you're not wrong here. Our youth academy has done very little for us lately and it is a bit worrying. I hope the Club's addressing this.

Blessing in disguise if you ask me. Who cares what the fecking press thinks, they'll be arse licking us when we win the league anyway.

The way it works is freebie first, paypal later:drool:

You can rule out all the kids. Evans and Simpson will do well for United. Brandy and Hewson look like good players coming through.

The real problem here is that we have not been ruthless enough in weeding out the mediocre players. A blind man could see that Martin, Eagles and Bardsley were never going to make it at United.

We should have got rid of them in the Summer and filled out the team tonight with some more experienced players. That would give the players with a real future (Evans, Simpson, Pique)at the club a better platform to show what they can do.

I tend to agree with that.

Agree.

Losing, like winning, can become a habit, which is why I can't easily dismiss this embarrassing result. But I'm also trying to maintain a sense of humour in order ot ward off my depression, so.... more titties and honey, please?

My thoughts simply are: I hate to lose a match, ANY match - even friendlies! I like to see us win EVERY game possible, no matter how important or un-important it is. I'm not gonna lose any sleep over this TBH. I'm disappointed because the young lads we've got coming through obviously aren't stepping up to the plate when matters. Yeah I think he should have had Rooney on the bench to help if things weren't going our way but Fergie obviously didn't see the point or even the need. I also feel for the 75,000 fans who paid good money to go there tonight and for what? The good thing is it's the least important competition and it's the one out of the way which gives us less games than our rivals which can only benefit us. Bring on the next Premiership match and the next CL match - the trophies i'm REALLY interested in :D

Our record says something else.
And our scouts found Ronaldo, Evra, Vidic, Anderson, Nani just lately

And I'm proud that United have still a british core and dont play XI foreigners, despite me not british at all

1) I'm talking about the English youth scouts, not the ones we use abroad.

2) You miss my point. I'm not advocating Arsenal and Liverpool's apparent preference for foreign kids, but simply that ENGLIGH kids in general are, for want of a better word, useless.

the only downside to this is that the youngsters/reserves don't get more minutes for the 1st team. Apart from that I couldn't give a flying feck. I've only listened to 2 minutes of BBC Five Live, 2 minutes of TalkSport and 2 minutes of 'Your'e on SkySports'...and the wank-fest was fantastic...saying United fans will be 'devastated'...it can 'impact the rest of the season' (see last season dick heads)...it's bad for the game...feck OFF...we love it the attention...i bet Fergie is pissing himself.

Get beat by Southend, then become champions

I'm sure Rooney and Saha would have had a good chance to change the game if either of them were on the bench and came on at half time. Putting Carrick on the bench is much less threatening, since no matter how good his services were, the player on the end of them were Dong and Campbell.

That will do, it true last season Arsenal esp had way to many games to play and zero depth. They are going to loose Adebayor and Toure and others (?) in Feb and so are Chelski, cant wait.

Lets be honest here people - Anderson should have stood out tonight - he didnt.
Nani should have stood out tonight - he didnt.

Nani has looked bright in the PL this season, and I think he will be a promising player but Im getting rather worried about Anderson.

Even with his injuries, and lack of match fitness, Ive seen nothing whatsover to suggest his huge price tag is justified. No flicks, touches, 40 yard passes, explosive pace and thunderous strikes, no outrageous pieces of skill...nothing..

Im not meaning to be harsh but Id of expected to see a tiny glimpse as to what we have invested in.

will give him a bit more time but i agree, haven't seen any promise at all of what he apparently has.

hope hes not another kleberson!

Almost everyone and his or her dog (plus Amazon parrot and potbellied pig) said that we'd have to be patient with Nani and Anderson when we bought them. Nani's looked reasonable so far. Add to that Anderson's very significant injury last season and let's not worry too much at this point.

Don't forget we didn't even want to sign Nani or Anderson until next season, but Fergie's hand was forced.
